I don't get why everyone pity Zoro so much! He's been through so much but the same everyone forgets that Kaname has been through much worse! He was in that coffin for who knows how long, Yuuki didn't knew 10 ten years that he was her 'brother' (read chapters 61-64), she loves him but loves Zoro 2 and Kanames's scared that he might lose her to Zoro.. I've heard that the manga artist was really involved in the anime the first season but the during the second she was busy so they were pretty much on their own.. so they cut out both kisses (When she kissed Kaname and when Zero kissed Yuuki) during that time.. if you follow the manga, the arc they based that season on was running at the exact time the manga was being released.

I think when Kaname turned Yuuki into back into her vampire self it was (technically maybe?) an indirect kiss, a symbol of things to come. Im the same as you, i like both pairings.

In the manga it briefly addresses that purebloods 'interbreed' (i think thats the word) so that they stay pure bloods.
