I think this movie is about how to everyone it seems like everyone else has a rule book to life, all the answers except for ourselves. It's showing how its us, you, me, ever individual person who feels left out, and lost while it seems to us that everyone has that special cheat cheat that they won't share.
this 6 minutes short movie could be really life changing if you understand what this movie is trying to say in a much deeper scene:::::: no matter how beautiful you think life is, no matter how much you care about others, there are moments when reality will crush you with some ugly facts that you have been always ignoring and the wisdom here is not to give up your nice view about life but rather to maintain it in a way you 'll be ready to face the ugly side of life one day ; ) thumbs up
The point (I think) is that just showing up doesn't count for anything. Stanley went to class while his friend ditched, and he didn't benefit anymore than this friend did (probably less). Why? Because Stanley just went through the motions and didn't have the guts to stand up to Garth. He didn't fight for his place at the table; instead, he went crying to the teacher, who shut the door in his face because in the real world, that's just the way it is. Powerful lesson.
@angryseraph I think the Garth thing detracts from the wider message. Stanley represents the individual, you or I, and how the individual is ultimately isolated. There is a wall between the individual, and everyone else who seems to know the answers. I think the teacher shuts the door in his face to signify that ultimately, there is no help or meaning in life that can come from outside of yourself. Everyone else may as well have the answers, but you, the individual make your own meaning.
i favourited this a few years ago. just watched it again, twice. this is eerily exactly how i felt when i was 15 (i'm 23 next month), and all throughout my teenage years really. the loneliness and isolation, feeling like everyone else had the answers but you. i now realise, i realised a while ago now, that this is not the case. no one has the answers to life, you have to discover them yourself.

This state is a state of nothingness, not to be mistaken with total non-existence, means that no distinction can be made from one part to another. Something can not be said to exist above the state itself when in this state. To have life is to retain; to gain life is to take way; to lose life is to release all that you have contained.
I think it was trying to say that sometimes it feels as if everyone else has the answers to life, and you feel you dont. i think the lesson shown is that its your life and no one can tell you what to do with it. you take account for your own actions. Stanley could of stolen a packet from another student or asked for a spare from another teacher but instead he went to his classroom teacher who wouldnt do anything about it. he should have just done whatever he wanted to get the packet, instead he did what he was told, and outside of school- it doesnt always work like that.

I think the message was oversimplified. The acting was pretty solid, except for some unnatural dialogue. But I felt that the momentum was lost because of the ending. Overall though - awesome job, you hooked me in.

I think the message was oversimplified. The acting was pretty solid, except for some unnatural dialogue. But I felt that the momentum was lost because of the ending. Overall though - awesome job, you hooked me in.

Maybe I know I'm not alone, that my parents love me, that I can talk to someone. But, when I am all alone, with nothing around but my mind, my madness, desperation, and all I want is to scream, I realize that all I can (and all I learnt to) do is continue.
