  • Man this is just to fast!!But you gave me some ideas thx.

  • I do have a 2 part tutorial that goes in-depth and contains resources under my "Photoshop Tutorials" playlist. Both parts are also in the "suggestions" to the side of this video called "Photoshop CS4: Creating a Realistic Planet Pt.1" and "Photoshop CS4: Creating a Realistic Planet Pt.2" =)

  • Nice, never seen a planet made with a bunch of texture maps before. Cool man!

  • Thanks. I decided to use texture maps from Star Trek: Bridge Commander for the thought "what better way is there to create a planet from pre-existing planets and moons?".

Plus, I was pretty much rusty and re-learning Photoshop, hadn't got planet textures down myself at the time. =)

  • I see most tutorials saying to use the render, distort, sphere, twice on the circle with the texture in it, but whenever I do thiss, the circle goes out of shape and doesn't stay round, is this a cs4 thing? or just me. :/

btwww thanks I'll try this when the vid loads, :)

  • It's essential you use the eliptical marque tool when making a selection before doing filter > distort > spherize.

That's the only thing I can think of that might be your problem or the step your missing which I used to do a lot when I started out using Photoshop and trying to do these types of tutorials with planets. =)

  • Oh!...I forgot to mention...this isn't a tutorial, just speed editing. I do have an actual 2 part tutorial that goes into incredible depth and also provides you with the planet textures used.

It's in my Photoshop playlist on my channel. =)

  • @LordReserei01 Haha ok thanks :) :), I'll try that next time, but I managed to do it already after playing around with the 3d menu on c4, did the same effect I wanted.

  • you know what, despite how fast this video is, I actually learned how to make my planet from watching it. Took a little while, but i figured out almost everything- almost ^_^ Thanks for posting this, it's a great help

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it. This was more or less just a speed editing video, if you would like to check out my tutorial that includes all of the textures I used, it's under "Photoshop tutorials" in the playlists section. =)

  • give me the planet X.psd I`ll tell you my e-mail if you reply to this :)

  • I haven't got the .psd for this since I did it a long time ago although if you look in my playlists for "Video/Photo Editing" I have a tutorial on how to do this planet. =)

  • @LordReserei01 ok i`ll try x planet haha

  • hahaha planet x is dangerous hey!1

  • haha, yeah...I named this video after the rumoured Planet X. XD

  • looks like extensive stamp tool useage

  • you could say that, think it's in the top ten of tools I use most frequently. XD

  • awesome!!!

do ya think you can make a tut for this??

  • I'll get on it ASAP, the textures used are just from KM 1.0 so you shouldn't have a problem with that. =P
