  • APM?

  • Did a little research, Mannix was aired by CBS. I realized if Desilu was involved it must have been channel 2.

  • Yo,MisterBouncyBounce: There isn't anything that can't be found on YT. Thanks sir! Just love the classics and old school themes. Ahh, the memories. If my memory serves, it was ABC Sat's @ 10p.m. 66 to 71 or so. My father really like this show and I did too. Great opening theme. And Mike C. and Gail F. were both very nice looking people. Thanks.

  • @stevesilk53 hey you're very welcome. i know the feeling bud, i'm very grateful for all the things people put up too. it's given me a chance to relive some of the best times of my life.

  • I love this music. They used to rerun this when I was a kid in the 80s on Saturday nights after I watched wrestling. WCCW on channel 11 in greenville texas. I used to wait for the music cause I always liked it.

  • m encantaba mannix i love u

  • I was in love with Gail Fisher as "Peggy". The music wasn't bad either. Great post.

  • You guys - this is insane. I watched this with MY DAD too on the sofa and thought I was a big deal staying up late for this show. I think it was on at 10pm, and if I'm not mistaken, it was Saturday night! Treasured memory indeed! There is nothing on 'tv' which can replicate those innocent times.

  • Lalo Schifrin is a genius, he gave to Hollywood media and film an innovation too much needed because the conservative of certain establishment into music stereotype was very boring even for foreign public. Schifrin broke aggressively with musical rules establishing an attack into the harmony musical arrangement that was followed even by a new generation of musicians of 70s into jazz-fusion movement.Mannix is a jazz-waltz 6 time 8 with certain latin-folk influence.

  • @juanunderground I always thought the “Mannix” theme sounded like Toots Thielemans’ “Bluesette” sideways.

  • What kind of car did mannix drive it was very cool convertable right, green was it?

  • @ocampojr In early seasons he drove a custom modified Olds Toronado. I think it was a George Barris car. I can't remember what he drove later (I'm a big Toronado fan.)

  • @jamespfitz

He had a mildly customised Dart 340 Convertible (also by Barris), followed by a string of Cuda convertibles, a Challenger coupe and finally a Camaro.

  • el gran MANNIX de las mejores series de detectives junto

con BARNABY JONES , CANNON , KOJAK , PETROCELLI ,

    COLUMBO , MAGNUM P. I. , STARSKY & HUTCH ☺

  • This tune wails groovy from the top Daddy-O. It's got a coo-coo ca-razy kind of swing, babe. Grinchy!.

  • This episode was The Lost Art Of Dying, first telecast October 24, 1970.

  • Mannix was pretty damned funny if you have a functioning brain. Every week he got the crap beaten out of him from being a damned fool, then next week everything was back to normal again. LOL Great music though - Lalo Schifrin rules!

  • I don't understand why Mannix never banged (Peggy) Gail Fisher. He should've got some of that brown sugar. Damn Hollywood was so racist back in those days. LOL.

  • A friend and I tried to sell an intelligent Mannix reprise TVM in the mid-90s, even had backing from Paramount, but we got shot down by his agent for no apparent reason. Glad Connors is still around and in great health but miss what might've been... okay, mostly THE MONEY!!!

  • TV was so much better in the 60's, 70's & early 80's than today. As a sixteen year old, I remember watching the likes of The Wild Wild West, Voyage ot the Bottom of the Sea, Man from U.N.C.L.E., It Takes A Thief, Combat, Hawaii Five-0, Kojak, Rockford Files...sigh....where have all the great tv shows gone?

  • @markmartin1959 Well markmartin, TVLand could broadcast all the great shows but for some reason won't. Our generation is so thirsty for quality television.

  • excellent posting, 'start and end credits.

  • I loved this theme...have found several versions and now I hear how much the TV version is edited and sped up--still a great tune by a great songwriter. And did you catch that little spin that his assistant Peggy does ending with that pert smile? That gal (and maybe Uhura) lit my jungle fever and it ain't been put out yet after'n 40 years, no sir, heh heh heh heh. *Cough*

  • My grandma loved Mannix............."My man Mannix" she would say

  • toute ma jeunesse

  • @MsDanjune....So do I! That would be great!

  • Old school badass tv show, the kind they pardoy nowadays.

  • @cosmicdingo People don't know what they are missing.

  • I LOVE this theme song! I watched Mannix almost every week...enjoyed it. Lalo Schifrin wrote so many great songs....a musical genius.

  • @MALP1231 I wish there was a Lalo Schifrin fan club!

  • Music creates special connections in your memory ... just a TV show theme but it triggered a vivid memory of now 40+ years ago, being with my dad as a little boy, sitting on the sofa with him watching this show. Do I miss him ...

Time is fleeting ... I'm older now than my dad was then.

  • @DesiluTrek SAme here dude. I remember curling up w my dad in front of our black and white TV and watching Mannix, Mission IMpossible, The time tunnel, Combat, Voyage to the bottom of the Sea.....Man, those were great times and great TV shows. TV now sucks big time

  • @DesiluTrek Yes, but unfortunately we've gotten older, and all these movies are old-fashioned for the young. Only those of our age, can understand us. Indeed, those were beautiful times for us, but today, all these are just memories.

  • @DesiluTrek I share all of your memories.

  • @DesiluTrek You've touched me.

  • I saw Mike Connors on tv recently on an interview and he'll be 85 this year. Hard to believe. He looks unchanged.

  • My late uncle's favourite show. He could've picked worse!

Lalo's one of the greatest soundtrack composers ever.

    A genius.

  • this keeps me young. 1967 sept 5th grade here. always rooted for joe mannix. i grew up with mannix.

  • Back in those days, white men didn't talking about banging black chicks, but I sure hope behind the scenes, mannix did Gail Fisher. LOL.

  • @sigzor85 LOL. In my mind they did. When Connors had a guest starring role on Dick Van Dyke's Diagnosis Murder (Ms Fair was in the hospital...soon to be dead) Van Dyke asked about Peggy and Mannix says "She's on vacation." Van Dyke said "Maybe you should join her". Kind of says it all to me (at least IMO!).Connors was in his 70s I think.

  • i was 6 when it was shown in the philippines on channel 13..i always love the music of mannix, amazing.

  • i was 6 when it was shown in the philippines on channel 13..i always love the music of mannix, amazing.
