What fun is having all of that money you swindled from idiots if you can't go to the mall and flaunt it without justice catching up to you in the very minor way of people making fun of you? Poor baby.
Mr. Tilton is a genius. He worked for no one but himself, took one of The System's "religions," and used it to obtain their "money" in order to get the objects that make him comfortable, like his beautiful mansions. If Wikipedia says he's a fraud, I'm inclined to believe he's not. It was the peoples' decision to give him money. Here is a man who bucked The System using their own institutions. He did not sell drugs or guns, nor is he a war-monger. He legally made millions on his own initiative.
@WhatsReallyGoingOn84 Preacher Tilton is a very smart individual who assembled an act based on the idea that if someone sent him a tidy check, God would reward that person by providing an even larger sum of monies. There were many testimonials but no evidence of such cause-and-effect empiricism. If people chose to send cash to the ministry, it was their own gullibility and greed which drove them to do so.
This does not prove that the ministry was not dishonest.
@sugarlanskee8 I agree; what he did was dishonest. I guess I just see it as a man fighting against what he saw was a greater dishonesty, namely, the institutions of religion and finance. Religion itself, and money itself, are dishonest control grids, so, he said, "screw it; I might as well use these things against the system and make a living so that my family and I are secure." I'm not saying this is completely honest, but, there's plenty of worse people in higher positions of power.
You are true in your evaluation of our ability to gain wealth which capitalism has bestowed on us. Religion, as a pure business enterprise, has means which are rational and self-satisfying while its methods are not only irrational as well as the Great Swindle of the hoi polloi.
Robert Tilton saw an easy opening, as do all of these preachers. Talk about people's imaginary figure and use it to exploit them for their money. They should be admired for their cunning.
Robert Tilton's problems began when he became proud and arrogant. Today he is still in denial. Instead of facing reality he still holds on to his: "self rightous" attitude. Many preachers want to correct others, but they don't want to be corrected. I'm still amazed at how some people still hold on to this man. People, you don't follow preachers, you follow JESUS. The evidence is in the open for people to see what this man has done. The love of money is the root of all evil.
@jiji45 You said "People, you don't follow preachers, you follow JESUS." Got a news flash for you, Jesus WAS a preacher. Whoops!

@jiji45 "The love of money is the root of all evil."
If that's the case, then why do organized religions want a minimum of 10% of my gross??
