My Haunted Mansion-Holiday

You are a genius! I do some Haunted Mansion Holiday stuff myself (mostly the Man Eating Wreath, the train with tentacle tracks, the tarot card book from Leota's room, and a few other things) but still to do this under a table? Epic! ^^

@thecopykidofthestarz If I'm not mistaken, it's just clay. It only looks transparent because it's a Pepper's Ghost effect :P

@handcraftedhorrors When you're doing it out of paper mache and only few hours (had to meet the deadline for a party), then yeah. I could sculpt it dead-on nowadays with some clay and plenty of time on my hands.

does it take as long to do your overlay install/uninstall as it does at the park (roughly 3 weeks)

The longest part was just making the decor, and that was a couple weeks. With everything made, the switch-over can be done in a matter of days (or even hours).

Everything was just scaled down appropriately and things adjusted. I cut the dancers to save room.

Why dontyou try an Indiana Jones ride theme, like in Disneyland. Such as the ballroom scene bacoming the lava pit, or you could just get another table. 1 table for one ride/model railroad, and the other for a different ride

I'm planning on a bigger table in the near future, almost twice the size and a bit higher. I'll take the indy theme into consideration, as its something that I haven't done yet, and it might turn out pretty neat.

how do you do the ghost and zero to appear and dissapear

Its done through an old effect known as the "pepper's ghost effect" which consists of reflections of figures on pieces of glass. The zero is the same way, though he's on a linear track that moves him back and forth.

What do you make your models and things out of? Are there any craft stores that sell it?

A lot of it is cardboard, sculpey, foam core and paint. You can get it all at Michael's (A craft store chain)

Yeah, I used black light paint from a halloween store and spent 2 weeks painting in the dark!
