midler made reference to this show at the Palace. i think she said she told paul jabara to do the show with himself as the lead. i sure do wish ELLEN GREENE WOULD COME BACK TO NEW YORK.
In 1986 he did a "pop-eretta" disco concept album with a plot about as weird as Rachael's was. The lead single from it was based around a brief one minute song from Rachael, De La Noche, and the video promo done for it, starring Paul himself in drag of course, is brilliant. Serious :P
Brilliant--my fave flop ever, though it seems hard to laugh *at* just cuz it obviously was meant to be the campy mess it was. Paul Jabara also went on to have three (minor) hit disco solo albums (including more duets with his friend Donna Summer, one of which Foggy Day/never Lose Your Sesnse of Humour used a song from Rachael), did Enough is Enoguh for Donna and Babs and Babs' own kinda forgotten disco gem The Main Event
@EricMontreal22 And was one of the first "celebs" to really work hard in the fight against AIDS giving many of his song profits to the cause (he also had Donna Summer sing a fight back single We're Going to Win that her label refused to release, but it's a gem). But best of all was the clip in my video response...

I've been looking all over for pictures of Ellen as Rachael. Where'd you find them?
