I may really never get over her leaving so soon. Who my heart really aches for is her family and Mr. Takasugi her manager who saw a great talent and molded her to what she became ...and her music and memories live on..I miss her..
BEATIFUL! She had a gorgeous voice, maybe someone will desagree with me or think i'm crazy, but she used to sinn soo much better in live performances than her studio songs. a wonderful proobe about her talent R.I.P
Four years ago today she moved on to a new life. We miss her sweetness, her beauty and her talent. It was great that she had people like John Wilson to help and support her. I don't regret her early demise so much as I wonder, "did she know how broadly, deeply and truly she was loved?" The depths of this universe must value her as we do. A new life for Minako is no doubt unfolding in a realm where she will one day see her beloved mother and dear sister Ritsuko again. Greg Gibbs of Portland
It's actually not very difficult to hold for 30 seconds. I guess you just gotta know what you're doing. It takes some preparation b4 you can just do it, but I think anyone could get to the point if they know how to sing properly.
Seriously, lol it's not that hard. Not all too easy, but yeah, do-able. She did falter a liitle bit at one point while holding, but trust, i'm not judging. I love how she sang this.
She must have a really good breath support if she can hold out that long of a note. I have terrible breath support, and cannot last more than 2-3 measures of whole notes.
Ok, and it's not just that note that's amazing either! Did you guys see how quickly she recovered and came in again perfectly on pitch? Pure talent that will be missed.
Her voice was amazing. I was especially amazed by the note that lasted 30 seconds. This is a reminder to everyone to live your lives to the fullest, and to cherish each day that you have on this planet. You never know when it could end. Rest in peace Minako san. You will not be forgotten!
She passed away three years ago yesterday from Lukemia. I was living in the Japan when she was a very popular pop singer. I still remember how beautiful she looked in 1986 when I saw her for the very first time. She is the woman who opened my eyes to the beauty in Japan. RIP Minako.
Ever since I first heard this song I was hooked. It is beautiful the way she moves and expresses it. There aren't any lyrics of this online anywhere but I still manage to recognize some of the words an sing along. She's a blessing, she helped me to support my breathing better through that 30 second hold. I have a deeper respect for her now.
Damn. sorry, I meant WOW, how could she do that? She had a very long breath, also a light voice that helped her to do it, that is what I think, I'm really not professional about voices, but anyway this is really a great note.
it takes a LOT of training and a lot of breath support to do that. There are many breathing exercises for singers to do to get to that point. One that my high school choir teacher had us do was inhale and hold it there while he counted. First, he counts to 15 and back down, then 20, then 30. Only a few people in the choir could sustain a note for 30 counts. I could only last 20 seconds before I start taking in a huge and loud gulp of air.
Oh my goodness that note was sooo long! It was soo cool though, how she held it so long! She's such a beautiful person~ I love this dress too; she seems to wear it every performance x3 So cute~
Minako Honda passed away just after her 38th birthday of leukemia. The hope that, in this song, she tells us gave her wings was deep. Like all deep feeling it was best expressed in incomplete terms. She vowed to stand on a stage again and wrote to her mother the day before she died that "I will be coming home soon." Still she told her sister that she wanted to "become one with the god of music". Within the auspices of the Buddha's Pure Realm she has done so. She still calls to us. Greg G.
I have wings shinging in the sun. I keep travelling as I rise up into the sky, chasing my dream. I have a hope shining in my heart. As dawn and the setting sun colour my wings, I fly off into the sky. Freedom has given me courage and light. You have wings, too. Fly off into the sky. It's beautiful. You are happy, aren't you? Let's get carried by the wind and cross the rainbow. It's a vast universe. You are beautiful. Let our wings touch each other in the clouds.
I am Japanese English teacher so I can understand them in both English and Japanese though of course it's not perfect. I just want to tell you what she says cause you know it's beautiful.
A beautiful lady using her beautiful voice to sing a beautiful song.

彼女が歌うために、世に送り出されたかのような曲。 今思えば彼女に贈られた曲、彼女が天空高くからこの世を見つめ、万人を励ますために天から歌い続けているような曲ですね。

I have wings, brightning in sunshine
flapping, chacing dreams and journy far way
I have wish, brightning from bottle of my heart
fly with wings bathed by dawn by sunset
Freedom gave courage and light
You have wings, too. fly! to the sky.
You are beutiful and must be happy. Let's ride on the wind. Let's cross the rainbow.

I don't think it's just that she held the note for 30 seconds, but she held it at that particular tone without faltering in the slightest.
