  • so many idiot haters

  • 0:39 is awesome :D

  • lol , you obviously have no clue... in this case D.C. is lapped by M.Schumacher (blue flag) and should go out from the ideal line , not decrease his speed on it, no matter what the conditions are. Seriously go read the rulles before making any afirmations.

  • Schumacher is a SHIT. Senna never didn't make like this. Because he was intelligent

  • @DasJunqueira dont post junk, you dont even know the rulles

  • @DasJunqueira schumacher is emotional and surely as intelligent as sanna! both were gods of racing.

  • Still waiting for that wheel to come back to earth.....

  • Schumacher: Where's Coultard I'm gonna kill that fucker!!!!

  • and michael, absolutly furious!!!

  • next, eddie irvine out, fisichella hit nakano from minardi, great similar from Schumacher & Coulthard Crash!!!!!

  • unbelievable crash!! great tragedy~~~~!

  • Hilarious. What a twat Schumacher was. I remember watching it at the time and was in hysterics. And unless I am mistaken, Schumacher drove into Coulthard. Mind you he was always doing that wasn't he.

  • @bairns1234 I think you'll find you're the twat. Every possible camera angle demonstrates how bad the visibility was. Schumacher was driving on the racing line and obviously attempted to veer away as soon as he saw the Mclaren. Technically he did hit Coulthard, so I suppose a simple answer will suffice for your simple mind.

  • @TheNation6 The simple fact is that Schumacher drove into the back of Coulthard. In his typical Teutonic arrogance he assumed that everybody would get out of his road. Not that he was averse to driving into others when it suited him. And there is only one twat in this conversation and it would appear to be you. As for being simple, you appear to have cornered the market on that one.

  • @bairns1234 He was lapping Coulthard, and apparently had been stuck behind him for 3 laps. He should be able to assume he would 'get out of his road'. DC decided to let him pass by slowing down on the racing line whilst being virtually invisible in the spray. Let's not blur the lines, because I despise Schumacher for Adelaide '94, Jerez '97 etc, but this isn't a deliberate crash. It makes no sense. Schumacher had an overwhelming lead in the race and his championship rival was retired already.

  • Hilarious. What a twat Schumacher was. I remember watching it at the time and was in hysterics.

  • love to see where that tire landed

  • BIG SCHUMACHER BIG FERRARI

  • Damon Hill wins it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • schumacher is with 3 tires faster than coulthard

  • @manuel111214 coulthard didnt have his rear wing

  • blimey i wonder where that tyre ended up!

  • Coulthard is a dumass

  • I like to think Schumacher's wheel is now orbiting Jupiter...or something.

  • Similar to Schumacher's crash last sunday in Singapore.

  • ...quanti ricordi....amari.......

  • @lorenzostinga

quel pezzo di stronzo di coulthard

  • one word, spray

  • This was a crazy race for sure.

  • 'That's not gone well...'

  • OHHHHOO GOD!

  • Coulthard should've given that cheating bastard a Glasgow kiss!!!!

  • LIKE A BOSS!!! XD

  • David Coulthard would have absolutely pasted him. I'd have paid good money to see that.

  • @TheChohr No way. Coulthard would have needed another American, a Canadian, a French resistance guy and some drunk Russian to do that.

  • @Nackenzwei Everyone knows that the Scots are the greatest fighting race in the world; apart from you it seems

  • Pff, nothing wrong with the Scots. I pretty much like them for being pissed at English people.

Still, I don't think Schumacher would just fall to the ground in a 1on1 fight against Coulthard. Both of them look pretty much the same, body- whise.

  • Schumacher is KING of F1 !!!

  • lol oh god 0:38

  • Funniest crash ever. Almost pissed my pants by then! Hakkinen 4-ever!!

  • @xxxmonxxx yeh even though we all know Schumacher is waaay better than Hakkinen... thats why Hakkinen needed to get his team mate to sabotage someone elses race for him to win...

  • @VinceMcJericho u really think that? Schumi is more succesfull than Hakkinen but thats hit, Hakkinen was the only driver to beat Schumacher with cars with similar performances

  • @SennaHamilton4ever "Similar"? really? if you say so you do not know about F1 season 1998, Mclaren was 1.5 sec per lap faster in Australia 1998.

  • @flanker23 Did u see what u just said? in Australia. Ferrari caught up with them, if the car was 1.5 sec slower throughout the year Schumi wouldnt have won a single race

  • @VinceMcJericho Even if Schumacher won this race, he still didn't have enough to win the title.

  • @shinhawk he could have at least been in with a chance in japan but he had to retire coz of the car...

  • Murray Walker=Best commentator EVER

  • Ahhh the good old days of F1, if it rained like this today you would get 2 things

    1. Drivers on team radio shouting "Undriveable!!! Undriveable!!!"

    2. Safety Car/ Red Flag

  • good old days, i miss this f1

  • coulthards a troll!

  • This was the real F1! not that stupid circus from these days!

  • Comment removed

  • i swear all the day when schumacher made this move :(, loose a big chance for title here!

  • well, that's the only thing DC will be remembered for in the f1 hystory.schumacher lost the championship here.

  • guess the cheater couldn't ake it so he had to huff and puff!

  • I still feel that same now as i did in 1998 about the length that Ron Dennis will go to to win.

Dennis should be banned from the track for ever. David and the Stewards should be ashamed of themselves. For mine Schumi won 8 even 9 world championships. Further David should of manned up to face Michael when confronted.

  • coulthard did wrong to schumacher deliberately.

  • xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD schumi sucker

  • I was at this race all i remember was, the rain, waiting 2 hours for them to clean up the track afterwards and being angry at Damon Hill for not doing a victory lap :L One of the best grand prix's ever.

  • "Now let us not forget that David Coulthard in these appalling conditions.....OH GOD!!!"

Gotta love Murray Walker, a true legend.

  • I think DC should have been a bit smarter than to simply lift off but it wasnt deliberate i dont think

  • Coulthard now presents F1 on bbc.. jeeze bet it will be right awkward when it comes to the time when he has to interview schumacher eeeek!!!

  • racing incident. too much mist/spray in the air to see what's in front of you. coulthard slowed to let schumi pass and unfortunately they collided. only place to let schumi by would be at la source but that was on the other side of the track.

  • Jesus germans are right mardy. Its only a championship, he gets in a strop over losing a championship which he has won probably 5 times already. The race should have been cancelled anyway in that condition, you cant see anything, this was F1's fault not schumacher or coulthards

  • @AbzPoo just wait till you see nascar...

  • Haha 1:40 Jean Toad

  • "he's going to have it out with David Coulthard"....classic Murray

  • If you drive on back of somebody's car the police will usually say it is your fault and you will be the one who is paying. I am so glad that Mika won that year =).

  • @ilferrari Well yeah he did lift, because he was about to be lapped, how is schumacher going to lap him without DC backing off. Yeah it was on the racing line, but on the other hand, if DC had moved across, Schumi might have too, so it could still have happened again. But, well, whatever...

  • Terrible driving from Coulthard. Lifting on the straight like that in heavy rain is dangerous for the drivers behind who can't see. 100% Coulthard's mistake

  • 0:39

    Not safe...

  • murray walker hahaha

  • Point 1 : Schumacher was BEHIND Coulthard from THREE LAPS (FULL THREE LAPS) driving TEN SECONDS SLOWER than his own standard lap.

Point 2 :Coulthard DID BRAKE ON THE RACING LINE, thats just insane.

I dont really see what schumacher could have done more, he was already lapping 10 seconds slower to take it easy, i guess he knew something was up...

By the way, without this accident, this would have been ANOTHER demonstration that all the other drivers had choosen a wrong job.

  • @NiteOfAiur Mate Schumi´s faul period. Coulthard was slowing down into pouhon, Schumacher just misjudged the space between them

  • @SennaHamilton4ever coulthard dont have to break on the raceline, srsly, he have to move his slow ass away like EVERY other driver does.

  • @NiteOfAiur Actually, he did brake on the racing line, but he was doing that on every laps (not that strongly though) so it was something to expect. Plus, Schumacer was following Coultard from to near, in a situation reducing the visibility.

Both driver are at fault, maybe not at a level for penalty though... Points might be enough.

Today, in F1, Schumacer might have been suspended for another reasons: if he did say he will kill Coultard after the crash, that's even ground for a lawsuit.

  • @therrydicule Is this for real?!? Both at fault? You expect braking on the racing line? Do you remember Webber's crash with Kovalainen last year? That was because Kovalainen put his foot off the gas for a second or so and it could've cause serious injuries to Mark. No way is this Schumi's fault, but it's true he shouldn't have threatened David...

On another note, Schumi on 3 wheels was probably faster than Coulthard on 4 :D

  • @IanZG42 My point is this: every driver must keep a reasonable distance from the car. It's basic driving. Schumacer did not follow this, and this could have get him a fine on public road... Therefore, he also have some responsibility. However, Coultard did something retarded.

When I say that both driver are at fault, I do not assert their share (it's not 50-50, maybe 85-15), nor I think it should be something for serious penalty (maybe a 30 minute talk in the pit area with the race marshals).

  • @therrydicule Fair enough, hope I didn't offend you too much with my previous comment :)

  • @NiteOfAiur what the f u c r u talking about ?r u blind?sch is coming with the normal speed at the point.coul just let the gas for 2 secs knowing excactly what is going to happen.

  • OHH GOD!!!!

  • bro? umad? xD

  • but anyway WHATEVER!

  • Couthard claims that he went off the racing line and lifted off. This clip shows that to be a falsehood.

  • Nowadays there is no way they let drivers drive condition like these .

  • I love the end, "but anyway whatevaaaa"

  • @Coultard Ah Goodyears was it, ah well it was a long time ago its hard to remember everything...

  • 3 wheeled ferrari > Coulthard's Mclaren/Mercedes.

  • Schumacher even on 3 tires is faster than Coulthard

  • @TheGentlemenBand

Not being funny, but I wouldn't wanna race around in the wet with no rear wing.....just an observation

  • i hate schumacher.. i'm walking and i kick some guy and i fuck up myself.. then i want to punch the guy.. good comparison :)

  • Go on DC!

  • In the rain you dont back off on the racing line to let someone by.. You move off line to let them go. If you know spa you know what part of the track it was an how the racing line is right there.

  • What a pussy!

Goes down there like a hero but loses his balls and back away!

  • Schumacher fucked up

  • @flipsidedogchop pretty sure DC admitted a few years he fucked up actually, lets slow down on the racing line with loads of spray, clever david

  • @knightsy90 who cares who was at fault... all i know is at the time, i couldnt stop laughing

  • Do you have footage with commentary of Murray/Martin of the Nakano/Fisi crash a lap later?

  • @Phoenix1664 omg you are so stubid coulthard gives not any more accelerate AND THAT IS THE TRUE coulthard says for him and all at the year 2000 that this situation was planing from the team you idiot you can clearly see that he gives not any more accerlate and w.tf are you thinking also coulthard 150 kph he knows schumi is behind THAN WHY HE GOES NOT TO THE RIGHT SITE THAT SCHUMI CAN OVERTAKE you have realy a small brain and third. coulthard was 2 rounds behind schumacher also DONT SAY BULLSH!T

  • great era...

  • anyway...where is Schumi's wheel finished?

i think they found it in Russia after 5 years

  • Also, please dont think im licking DC's arse, I actually like Schumacher, but this accident was his own doing. And for those saying blah blah this lost Schumi the title, thats bollocks! This is F1, what happens happens! If Schumi didnt hit Hill in 94, Hill would have been champ, if Alonso had got past Petrov at Abu Dhabi last year, he would have been champ, if Hamilton hadnt got past Glock at Brazil 08, Massa would have been champ, senna and prost at sazuka another example! Thats F1 get over it!

  • @Phoenix1664 thumbs up!

  • Ok, that definatley wasnt Coultard's fault, he was hugging the white line right at the edge of the track, schumacher obviously hadnt realised coultard was backing off to let him go, its as simple as that. If anybody says coultard was driving slow on purpose, then no thats LIEZ. The reason Coultard was so slow was because the Michelin tyres were absolutely wank in wet conditions, and all Bridgestone runners were miles faster. Thats why Couldtard was so slow.

  • @Phoenix1664

    What're you talking about?

Coulthard was driving with Bridgestone tires, whilst Schumacher had Goodyears.

  • @Phoenix1664 Coulthard lifted on the straight to let Schumacher through, this was confirmed by all parties. Nothing to do with tires. Was 100% a misjudgement by Coulthard.

  • Coulthard, die rollende Schikane...

  • I'm sick of people saying that this incident cost Schumacher the WDC that year, when it clearly didn't. At the end of the 98 season, Hakkinen ended up with 100 points, and Schumacher, 86 points. The extra 10 points from this race would have only given him 96 points. Still not enough to beat Hakkinen.

  • I was there!!! :D i was only 6 at the time but my dad said we had a great view of Schumacher losing his wheel :L

And there was an hour wait at the start after the crash :L In the wet.

  • David Coulthard, possibly the worst driver ever to sit in a Formula 1 car. He could, and did, crash into just about anything, especially when it was easier not to.

  • @IAMCANADIAN1998 I'm sorry how can you say that? You probably never watched f1 in the late 90s/early 2000s because Coulthard showed numerous times that he was a fantastic driver and even capable of matching Hakkinen and Schumacher at times. His 13 race wins were fully merited. Sure in his later career he didn't do much but still he was a worthy driver who could compete well at the top of the sport.

  • @MrRascasseman Actually, the late 90s and early 2000s were the only time I watched F1, because since then it's been ruined by too many pointless rule changes, unbelievably boring tracks and a whining, stuck-up baby named Lewis Hamilton. DC was consistently out-raced by his teammates, first Mika, then Kimi, and then after that he essentially ceased to matter... And if you can point out to me one instance of DC 'matching' Schumi for more than a lap or two, I'll be quite surprised.

  • I recall France 200 an instance of Coulthard matching and beating Schumacher.

And Lewis Hamilton a a whiny stuck up baby? I'm a big fan of Lewis and he is along with Vettel the two most talented drivers to have come out of f1 in a long long time. Whiny, stuck up baby could apply to Alonso who is equally a fabulous driver but you just seem horrendously ill informed.

  • the 2 dislikes were from coulthard and schumacher

  • Back in the day me and my family were huge fans of Damon Hill, we had the race highlights of this on VHS and we still have it now. When Schumacher crashed into Coulthard remains one of my favourite F1 moments.

  • maybe Schumacher mistook the silver rain soaked McLaren for damon or jacques?

  • @xXxPeeeeedyxXx

I realize the rules and regulations in F1, and that they don't stop the race even when wet, but it's dangerous 2 be racing with that much water on the track. Look at other motorsport. I am entitled 2 my own opinion as much as you are.

Isle of Man TT- Stopped if raining

    Moto GP- Stopped if raining

    SBK- Stopped if rainning

Granted it does make 4 more exiting racing but, it's not good to see fellow racers get injured.

(Also if i offened u in any other way then soz)

  • @wwefanme Motor bike racing is stopped in the wet if it's a down poor of heavy rain. If it is a small rain shower they race. Plus Isle of man TT is on public road with white painted lines over it. So it's like walking on ice for them. Plus in a car with four wheels u have more control then u would with two. I've been watching motor racing for nearly 14 years and have only seen motor bike racing stopped in rain twice, once at the night race they do in moto gp and the motogp race at the usgp.

  • You don't see this in F1 thesedays!

  • Schumacher Had all the right in the World to be angry. That is all.

  • schumacher you sore looser. Coulthard clearly backed off and moved off the racing line, why did schumacher go in his slipstream? why defend schumacher here, Coulthard was 100% innocent. And another thing, isn't against the rules to drive back to the pits with only 3 wheels? becuase vettel did it in australia 2009 when he ran into Kubica, and caused liegate becuase of it. vettel is schumacher's apprentice

  • @F1guitarfanatic927 - "Coulthard clearly backed off and moved off the racing line" XD Hahahaha!

Coulthard slowed down ON the racing line which is something you should NEVER do. You think that the outside of a corner in pouring rain is the racing line?

Also, Vettel was charged in Australia because he attempted to finish the race on three wheels, not just drive to the pits.

  • @FormulaOneFan4Eva "Coulthard slowed down ON the racing line which is something you should NEVER do"

then how come the drivers in HRT and Virgin didn't move of the racing line. That is the worst arguement ever because loads of other drivers have done it before. for example Takuma Sato did it to Nick Heidfield on the last lap of the Chinese GP when he was racing Jenson Button (can't remember the year)

And on Vettel, how much was he actually charged?

  • @F1guitarfanatic927 - Did I ever defend the Virgin or HRT drivers? And I vocally criticised Sato for what he did in China 2006. Do you think I have double-standards? Think again...

The fact is, Coulthard slowed on the racing line which resulted in Schumi hitting him in the back. This isn't road driving where the driver behind is held accountable, this is racing and you mustn't get in the way of the driver lapping you let alone slow down in the middle of curve right in front of him...

  • @FormulaOneFan4Eva Vettel didn't even make it around the next turn and crashed he was fined for causing the accident more then trying to drive back to the pits. But i agree it was Coulthards fault in the same way it was Schumachers, yes i am a Schumacher fan since i started watching F1. It was a 50/50 blame for the crash, but at least my irish team Jordan GP won the race and Hill proved he could win in a car other then a Williams.

  • @F1guitarfanatic927 That was the trajectory, the curve was on the left! ignorant!. Coulthard slowed markedly and was on trajectory

  • Schumacher hit coultard from behind - end of story. there is no way that it compares with waht schumi did to damon hill or villeneuve....

  • Schumacher went nazi Germany on british Coulthard. lol.

It wasn't Coulthard's fault. When it rain's that baddly they should've stopped the race. Of course you can't see what's in front of you when you have that much water on your visor!

  • @wwefanme

oh god you stupid! stop reeding the sun it youst fix shit in your head!!!

  • oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's so good

  • I don't think it was on purpose that Coulthard was trying to get Schumacher on his back, I mean... All Coulthard did was to slow down because he was about to get lapped, and Michael clearly didn't see that because of the spray. You can't just put the blame on Coulthard since he did exactly what he has to do, slow down and let the faster cars through when you're about to get lapped. Michael did a mistake and thought it was safe to drive "through" the spray.

  • @Ralleee

Coulthard slowed down Schumache on purpose for a few laps....he knew what he was doing...

  • @TangentopoliNoStop Well, all I can say then is he's a freaking genius. Even though I don't believe it

  • This race should had been won by Ralph Schumacher, giving him his first victory. But the team ordered to let Hill pass him.

  • @Peroo85 Hill was ahead of Ralf, and the team ordered Ralf to stay behind rather than risk a crash. A Hill victory was worth more in terms of publicity and money than the other Schumacher winning.

  • @tristancliffe Yes, you are right. My memory isn't that flawless:)

  • Yeah... one could see how either driver could be at fault there.

But which one was more wrong?

There's only one way to find out:

    FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!

  • why coulthard 's fault!!!!!!!

  • @MrAsetgraffiti

because schumacher was leading the race and he was going to lap coulthard.

instead of leaving the racing line to let schumacher pass he braked during that curve

  • I think history shows that if ya have the car you will get 1of c/chips

  • complete coulthards fault... i would have smacked him like senna on irvine. (anyway you'd destroy your hand on that jaw)

  • one of the most memorable racing moments ever!

  • Hey jb2k12 do you have the huge crash clip that happened at this same grand prix in English like this clip is??

  • @Mordecai4life - sorry for the late reply, i dont have the start crash in english

  • @jb2k12 Oh, do you know anyone who does at all??

  • @Mordecai4life no i dont know anyone who has the start in english

  • @Mordecai4life I have it :) It's very high quality. I can upload it if you want?

  • @Mordecai4life i do

  • @F1FullRace Your a legend, thanks so much :)

  • @Mordecai4life your welcome mate Xd

  • @Mordecai4life i'm not 100% positive, but i'm quite sure that no one died in the huge pile up. the only high speed collision is hakkinen hitting the wall (which started the whole thing). after that there's just no where to go to avoid crashing. awesome wreck though!!

  • @MrBrandonRTR

It was not hakkinen....it was coultard that lost it under wheelspin and hit the wall....this started the chain reaction!!!

  • Schumacher 7 champion mundial de formula 1

the best f1 driver off oll time Senna Schumacher Prost...

Hill is the best loser off all time xD

  • @JoKerDeluXe82 Best loser? you do know he won the world championship

  • Murray Walker: "Ohhhh God!"

  • This cost Schumi the championship.....

  • @Ezza190 you say that like it was a bad thing lol hehe

  • @Holtonfilmprodutions haha, i soppose so, but hey he got it two years later lol

  • @Ezza190 yeah thats cus there car was just plain better than everybody elses unlike it was in the late 90's

  • This was the BEST race ever.

  • Schumi is the greatest of all times whatever mistakes he has done

  • what a bastard, he cuts coulthard off all the wat to the end. little bastard

  • cockerel

  • very telling now that we finally have footage of the immediate events before this accident, very poor judgement from coulthard...

  • schumacher is a dick, he only had himself to blame during that incident. funny how it's always someone elses fault with Ferrari

  • lol, stupid comment. schumacher couldn't see a thing, coulthard should've realised that and backed off, while OFF the racing line.

  • schumacher is an idiot, even now, incident with barrichello on last gp says everything...

  • wow.. i memories of old f1 :) that time was the best

  • Maybe you're right on schumacher , but anyway Coluthard is a stupid and unfair person... each time i see him i'd like to hit him with my hands.

  • @federockmodena what else would you hit him with? your dick?

  • Comment removed

  • @Grisu94x bullshit

  • would they still race in conditions like that today?

  • @Pendor42 No, the Malaysian GP this year was cancelled because of similair conditions made by a typhoon or some big storm they get there? I can't remember but no, they don't really.

  • @Pendor42 Yes they would. That's not a monsoon. Rain at Spa and the Nurburgring down the road come with the territory and is standard operating procedure there. They wouldn't even delay the start. Take the most mega track with a ton of history then add water. May the best man win. On your knees, oval track pussies!

  • they do, unless it just becomes literally undrivable like malaysia 2009. i seem to remember both the and european and japanese grands prix in 2007 were worse than this at points and they were still racing.

also, you must remember that modern cars are stiffer and more sensitive than cars from 1998 and would be harder to drive in these conditions.

i hope it rains in belgium this year, that would be epic.
