The woman who died on the ride happened in 2001, apparently it had to do with the new boats designs meant they had to change the chain on the lift hill and most sites say it's been operating normally since 2007.

the fat lady that died on it was at a private opening at Knotts in the evenin. Not only that but that was before the remodeled the boats had to have over the shoulder restraints before it was just a bar that only held you in. And she had a 50inch waist!

This ride is like literally FALLING APART OR NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY . /: i wentt today & short linee but they took FOREVER just to set the people in and load the ride . the seats weren't tight enough and had to keep testing and fixing it blahblah . we ended up just going under the slide where all the water was falling and got wet that way ! WAY MUCH BETTER ! XD

@68gleek I've been on this a bunch of times and you are right, the drop is VERY STEEP! When your going down you actually feel like your free falling. Plan on getting drenched with "stinky" water, too. It's a fun ride but I don"t think it"s that safe. It gets stuck alot and they are always having problems with the boats. My friend is a ride operator for this ride.

@PeteyandRuby12 hey what happened was she got on the ride and the lap bars fit her fine. but when the boat crested the hill, she put her hands up, which changed the center of gravity on her from her waist to her chest. From her larger size, it was enough to create a gap between her and the lap bar. She fell and was ran over by the boat.

my boss was the guy who had to pull that poor woman out of the water.

As far as i know no law suit was filed anyway. but yah now perilous plunge has a 5 point harness so that will never happen again. i definatly recommend the ride tho if you've never rode it. very thrilling haha

the first time u ride something that has a big fall for me it was the exact same thing at magic mountain tidal wave.. that was my first ride with a fall when i was 11 i think any way.. it feels kind of funny people refer to this as "butterfly's in your stomach" it feels weird the first few times but ride it 4 times or more you'd hardly feel a think
