We all need to think about this. Newton was playing second stringers and maybe 3rd and even 4th. He did good, but he wasnt playing first stringers. Im not hating or anything, he did good, but this is just preseason game #1. We cant judge who should be starting. Clausen did good, he made an interception which makes him look bad.

Newton doest have great accuracy, recievers had to slow down a lil. and he missed a easy touchdown pass. Right now, its still anyones game to take the starting QB spot.

Newton just looked like someone that knows how to play football. He was poised in the pocket had presence and showed a quick release with a lot of zip. His 8-19 was extremely misleading as he had at least two drops in the game. One in particular to Clowney in the third quarter. Even the commentator stated how good his accuracy was. Friday we will get to see how he looks throwing to Steve Smith.

Cam is a good addition. i saw the couple sacks but he's definitely mobile and appears to be pretty good at making the first defender miss. He needs work on accuracy (missing armanti edwards and making Olsen get low to get it) but he's good at waiting to see what the defense gives him and even extending the play. He's good for a rookie and will only get better as the season plays out. I'm thinking 8 or 9 games if the O-line stays up don't get too happy tho sports fans its just preseason game 1.

@199320022011 hey from last season ill take any win, and besides, its good to know how Cam plays, needs to work on accuracy a little bit but besides that he was great, our season last year was terrible, but the offensive line pro bowlers are healthy and we've got great TEs like Shockey and Olsen, we got 2nd year players like Brandon Lafell, and we've got 3 great running backs, Mike Goodson, Deangelo Williams, and J Stew, Goodson needs to work on ball security, Im liking this season already

I remember reading an article about Cam from when he was in high school. He was sick so he didn't start a game and they let the second string quarterback play. At halftime his team was winning 6-0. Cam decided to go into the game after halftime and they ended up winning 49-0. Same thing with the Alabama comeback. He is a gamer. He knows how to will a team to a win.

I disagree with peoplesaying they will probably win 5 to 7 games this year. They got the real deal coaches and everything else is the real deal. The only thing that needs some work is the offensive line. i think they will do great this year.

Clausen besides the pick pretty darn accurate. Newton much better than I thought, his mobility seems perfect for going out of the pocket (which looks to collapse a LOT) and elongating plays.

Whilst maybe not a massive boost, carolinas got a shot at .5-7 wins this season id say.

He also dropped a couple easy passes. Nice Punt Returns though edwards. Also Olsen and Shockey will be double trouble. I'm not sure why you think he put no effort to catch the ball. The third pass was dropped only because the defender stripped it (That was the only pass he dropped). AE=Player of the game

Ugh, I hate when the WR can't catch the damn ball. Cam only completed 8 passes. As i was watching it, it should've been about 10 or 11 completions, but Cam does throw a bullet and it makes it harder to catch but he did put the ball in the WR hand though. I like how he stood in the pocket til receivers came open, and he didn't scramble not one time. Cam had twice as more snaps than Clausen and no picks.
