This is a great story! Reminds me of my dog at trials :,) I cried so much (he would pee, jump out of the ring, etc) but now he is winning ribbons, and I have a new puppy, so when he is older, I can continue dog agility! (And she's a girl so maybe I won't have that peeing issue!)
Such a sweet video. Thick or thin, I'll be there for you two! You and Ri are such an amazing team, and even if he doesn't show it all the time in the ring, those moments that you DO click are those that will stick with you forever. What a curious boy he is. You can tell he loves to do agility and it doesn't *appear* to be stress related. It's hard for us to see them that way at trials, especially when they rock at home (I went through it for almost a year and a half with Kaiser...). Don't feel bad for not trialing him now, you'll know when he's ready again. And even if you don't, who cares? He doesn't - He still gets to ride along and party like a rock star. :o)
You guys are going to be just fine. I went through so much with Abbey from shutting down to joint scares at only 4 years old to not being able to keep focus in the ring or get her up to speed. I just kept at it, didn't give up and she didn't let me give up. She is now almost 7 years old, but competing and winning against dogs half her age. I'm sure you and Riley can beat this!! Just give it all you've got.
Your determination ROCKS! Someday every trial will be like that best trial. He's got so much potential, just work though this tough part and the rest will be great. :)
