Actually Festus aka Ken Curtis replaced Frank Sinatra with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra when Sinatra went solo. Curtis also sang with the Sons of the Pioneers. He was nothing like his character of festus. He was refined and eloquent.

Until I saw Ken Curtis in his role as Festus on "Gunsmoke I never knew how talented he was except for his music. He was quite an actor, too. Along the way I saw him in a couple of movies and some TV shows. Ken has a wonderful voice and he can sing just about any genre of music I've found. He was a nice looking gentleman. These are nice pictures of Maureen O'Hara. A beautiful lady and fine actress. Thank you for posting this. - Paula
