@Kinzokan - If what evolution claims was true we'd be surrounded by billions of years worth of fossil evidence - with physical proof for ALL the 'missing links' from amoeba to human. Instead we find only diverse species in the fossil record. Evolution claims that these 'evolved' from one to the next without showing intermediate proofs. The 'missing links' which should be numerous across the column are clearly unaccounted for.

@RUKEAL We do have fossil evidence that spans billions of years, however the creation of a fossil is extremely unlikely, requiring the exact right conditions and environment, so unfortunately we don't have fossils of every species ever to have existed. Also invertebrates and single celled organisms are even less likely to become fossilised as it's usually the skeleton that is preserved. Just because we can't see every species that's existed doesn't mean there isn't enough evidence.
@crazytosh1 - I'm afraid that does mean there's not enough evidence. Forget the single celled organisms - there are massive unaccounted for gaps in the fossil record. How many 'steps' must it have taken for just one species to progress from 'point A' to 'point B' in evolution and yet the evidence of this escapes us. This is simply because these 'links' never existed in the first place - the fossil evidence we find are simply the diverse species that lived in a previous epoch.

Instead we find only diverse species in the fossil record. Evolution claims that these 'evolved' from one to the next without showing intermediate proofs. The 'missing links' which should be numerous across the column are clearly unaccounted for.
'More probable' in light of the above is a ludicrous claim.

@RUKEAL We do have fossil evidence that spans billions of years, however the creation of a fossil is extremely unlikely, requiring the exact right conditions and environment, so unfortunately we don't have fossils of every species ever to have existed. Also invertebrates and single celled organisms are even less likely to become fossilised as it's usually the skeleton that is preserved. Just because we can't see every species that's existed doesn't mean there isn't enough evidence.

How many 'steps' must it have taken for just one species to progress from 'point A' to 'point B' in evolution and yet the evidence of this escapes us. This is simply because these 'links' never existed in the first place - the fossil evidence we find are simply the diverse species that lived in a previous epoch.

We are genetically similar to chimps, slightly less to rats, less to reptiles, and so on. This provides evidence for evolution as the differences in the genome of two species is in proportion to the amount of time there was between the evolution of the species.

@crazytosh1 - Well of course it would make a hierarchy. It perfectly obvious that all life on earth exists in a hierarchy in which humans are at the top. So naturally we would be more genetically similar to chimps than to rats. This simply shows the similarity in the building blocks of life - which should be expected if all life came from the same source. It certainly does not provide evidence for evolution or of any time factor between species.

Yes it does. Common descent predicts statistically significant adherence to nested hierarchies, and therefore the observation of nested hierarchies is evidence for common descent.

@RUKEAL It would be wrong to say that being higher in the hierarchy as you mean it means that you are more evolved. Are you suggesting that chimps are the creature the next step down the food chain after humans?
I assume you believe in god, so why would god create DNA codes that resemble each other and appear to form a family tree if all animals are not related to each other?

@crazytosh1 - Because DNA are the building blocks of life. Therefore they are the 'recipe' for life and one would expect these similarities. The same as bits and bytes form the 'building blocks' for computing - both the simplest and most complicated examples use them.

@RUKEAL Why would you expect the similarities? God would have no reason to make octopuses and humans have similarities in their genetic code, except to try to fool humans into thinking that he didn't make them. If God did make life then he wouldn't have created us with imperfections and wouldn't add over-complicated features like DNA, when, as a supposedly omnipotent being, he could just magically make us without cells or nerves or any of the bits inside us.

@Voidsworn Actually, Buddihism was originally just a philosophy. Future generations added their own superstitious bullshit to the mix, but the original idea had nothing to do with any kind of faith or god.

@Voidsworn Yes, the warped versions are wrong. I just think you should know that true Buddhism is the best philosophy. Buddha descovered things that scientists have only just recently confirmed. He was argueably the smartest man in existence.

@Voidsworn Don't get me wrong, I do not follow anyone, either. Even Buddha said for future generations "If you see the Buddha, kill the Buddha." Meaning he did not want anyone to idolise him. He quite openly encouraged people to question him and use logic rather than faith.

Ugh...such ignorance is exasperating. Apparently MegaSage007 makes "special pleading" case (in poor attempt to avoid infinite digress), "argument from ignorance" (has no understanding of evolutionary theory beyond creationist "data"). Science has nothing to say about existence of deities (atheists do tend to use science to back up their position), so on and so forth. "Nothing new under the sun" here...(yes I know it is a Biblical quote).

@VegataMig: Just hang in there. I was scared to drop religion and God, too. What I found: rationality, clarity, and reason led to higher path of knowledge, wisdom and inner security. I don't worry about eternal damnation or a god's wrath. As a result, I am much happier, less neurotic and more forgiving of myself and others. In fact, as a nonbeliever I find that I focus on other people more than I did as a believer. You can personally message me if you want to ask me questions.
