i dont mind bullriding... but why, WHY do people think they are monsters, bulls are a kind and lovely animal, i love bulls, thay are sweet, and i dont like horses in a rodeo, , some of them is treated like filth, and some are just to young to be in a rodeo shame! barral racing is not so bad, it is fun to watch, but dont hit the horses, they are doing their best. ( i am sweedish so forgive my crapy spelling)

to everyone that believes this is cruelty, reality check. the animals that perform in a rodeo are treated great i'm a person who is against all animal cruelty, i'm in fact an animal lover. these animals are in no danger. they're aware of whats going on. if you don't agree with whats going on keep your damn mouths shut & don't watch the videos this is what the animals know and love to do the person riding is in much more danger than the animal. but are you going to scream person abuse i think not

Anybody that likes rodeos, reply to me and answer one question - Do you really think rodeos are fun and "entertaining"? I have no problem with barrel racing and cow "cutting", but steer wrestling, calf roping, mutton busting, bucking bulls and broncs etc. are all very CRUEL! Anybody who loves and supports rodeos please REPLY. Tell me your opinion.

I beg to differ. please don't get me wrong; i love animals, and im a huge stand up for animal rights. I protest at stampedes BUT bucking bronc does NOT qualify as cruelty. Those horses are well treated. I know it sounds bad, i sound like an idiot right now, but hear me out. They are not in pain. the only time they feel pain is if they develop sores from the straps, which is rare. STOP FLAMING VIDEOS! If it bugged you that much you wouldn't watch them!

i ride bareback and all it is is a strap that tightens up around theyre flanks. once the rider gets off the undo it. they dont beat em or nothing. shit they get treated like athletes not like scum. bc with out em there wouldnt be any rodeos.

u say its just a flank strap tightened up around their flanks..... well, to the horses its a whole lot more. its a thing called "cruelty". to get the horses to buck, the strap must be so tight and being so tight it could hurt the horse, and after a while it does. i hate rodeos. theyre all cruel. they should be banned.

They leave these flank straps tight enough to stay on but loose enough so the animal thinks he can kick it off! Man you must ride English! But when you ride a horse and do up the girth in the normal saddle, they'll be agressive, but when you ride they do nothing wrong, right? When the flank strap is done up they'll do anything to get it off. See the difference?

Well yes, just as they are sensitive in the mouth. The reason why they turn to bucking is because of the placement, when you put a girth on a green horse they will most likely launch all legs off the ground to throw it off there backs. Since its closer to the back legs they try to buck it off, once they learn it won't eat them and that they are supposed to buck you have a bronc. You can slide your hand through it too, and its really padded down.

It also doubles as a support for the lower lumbar vertebrae. Cruelty does happen in rodeos as in every other equine discipline. Overtightened flank straps can cause sores, or some idiot brings in a cattle prod, but that isn't a common sight (I have never seen it). But hey, you seem to know a lot about horses thats just my two cents.

If ur talkin to me then i just have one thing to say = u say an idiot will bring in a cattle prod - is that the electric shocker that sets the horses off? Well its VERY cruel to do that to any animal and its just STUPID! And did you know that cows are very sensitive to electric shocks, thats why they use the prods on them, to set them off more? Then those idiot "cowboys" take advantage of that to have more of a "ride". Sounds like cruelty to me.

If you ever see a 'cowboy' with a prod in his hand then yes, you would be looking at an idiot. Yes a cattle prod is 'that electric shocker' and it is illegal to be used in rodeos (though some unfortunately get away with it like I have said as in all equine sports). Yes I realize most animals are sensitive to shocking devices that is why they are used to move pigs and cattle at farms and such. But not supposed to be used in american rodeos (not sure about those mexican rodeos though ugh..)

@lilbluependragon Actually the cattle prod is allowed to be used in Rodeos. PRCA rules strictly say it can only be used when an animal stalls in the chute however. It's safer to use one than to not use one in that situation. Animals can seriously injure themselves and the rider if they get too excited in the chute.

Actually the cattle prod was designed as an easier way to move cattle around the yards in no way was it ever supposed to be incorporated into rodeo.. its illegal and shld be stopped these days animals are bred to buck and need little encouragement... cattle and horses have a much higher pain threshold than humans it doesnt actually hurt them that bad.

@HorsePsycho Its been done, and i tried explaining this to your buddies over at SHARK, but because it made them look dumb, the comment was approved. Stock contractor sammy andrews (owner of some very famous bulls) put on an entire event with no flanks. The bulls bucked very hard, they just didnt extend their legs like they do with a flank (thats all the flank is for, to get them to extend their legs) so your argument is void, sorry bud.
