(part 2) I honestly can't say, He's a great athlete but in order to judge him against them you'd have to give them the same equipment, have them play the same course, and have them all play in their prime... It's a pointless argument because if you argue either side it just can't be won

As Hazeltine indicates, Woods should practice his putting and less time peddling Buicks and wristwatches..unless he likes losing to newcomers like Yang. It does actually help when Tiger practices his putting. He didn't win but at least he wasn't in 30th place. The guy needs consistency, and he just doesn't have it. We will see how he looks in 15-20 years. That will distinguish him from other flash-in-the-pan types.he should quit huckstering until he is established as one of the golfing greats. (Where do you monkeys get off quoting what Jack "would say?)" Have you spoken to Jack lately, or just doing some premature "god"-worship?

He is 33 and sits 3rd all time in wins and second in majors. Can you count? I would say that is one pretty respectable career so far. It takes some serious consistency to win a lifetime of tournaments and majors so quickly. Everything you say against him is simply out of personal bias and you sound like a fool the way you present your statements. You don't have to like the guy, but you seem to like the sport of golf. So go do some research instead of being a fanboy of Jack and be enlightened

zhanrad, you don't think the golden bear and the king huckster'd products while they were pro's? Arnie promoted his hard-collar shirts with the umbrella logo the same time as Jack was promoting his with the bear. Lets not forget the Response ZT putter that Jack used in the 86 masters. He had a commercial every 5 minutes in weeks to come reminding everybody how the Response ZT putter helped him win the Masters. Jack and Arnold will tell you that Tiger is the bestthe world has ever seen.

Hi Bartelcbart--How do you think Tiger will do today??He's now in 30th place at Deutsche Bank. Maybe he can move up a few slots today. Or do you think they have stacked the deck against him , like Augusta?? Excuse makers like you boys look so silly. Arnie and Jack didn't make excuses---they just won tournaments. So far, Tiger is little more than a flash-in-the-pan.. Let's see how he smells in another 15-20 years. (If he quits huckstering products, he may have a chance to make a name).

what you guys need to remember is that palmer,hogan,nicklaus and them were far ahead of there time in the way they played, thats why they were so gd because the rest of the pros around them wernt as gd,but golf today is different,everybody who turns pro these days, are 4 or 5 times better than the also rans of nicklaus etc's day so tiger is that much better because hes playing against a field which is better than back in the day. and he still kicks ass.on a regular basis

haha it's amazing how some of you people think. Tiger practices more than any other player in the world while stil "peddling" buicks as you say. In 5 years, he will have brek nearly every record in golf regarding winning tournaments, finishes, etc.

Hi LUKE--Maybe Tiger should slip back to the putting green and reacquaint himself with his putter. Maybe he is getting used to coming up 2nd (Barclays), but I have always thought the goal was to WIN. Arnie could always be counted on to blast ahead when he trailed the pack, and come up with a 'win'---If the 'Tige' ever wants to achieve the status of folks like Arnie and Jack, he'll need to devote more time to practicing and less time to huckstering, (or be known as a 'flash-in-the -pan').

tiger isn't a flash in the pan he has been around since 94.. 3 strait US amateurs (only 1to do that) largest margin of victory at a major TIGER Slam. Lowest Masters score -18, US Open -12, British Open -19 (Record for all major) tied for lowest PGA -18 (beat the guy he tied with in the playoff) They changed golf courses to go against his game or else he would have passed Jack already They never had to Nicklaus proof a course like Augusta didto prevent Tiger form destroying the field every year

Attic, Tigers STATS at this point in time don't mean doodly. He needs more than a few years of good golf to earn legendary status like Arnie or Jack..."On course" means absolutely nothing. Building a reputation for LONGEVITY and CONSISTENCY in winning is what legends are made of. Tiger is neither consistent nor does he have any longevity. (84th place a few weeks ago).. In 20 years we'll see how how he smells!! .In the meantime he should practice, and lay off peddling wristwatches and Buicks.

As Hazeltine indicates, Woods should practice his putting and less time peddling Buicks and wristwatches..unless he likes losing to newcomers like Yang. If Woods wants to EARN a "legendary" status rather than "flash-in-the-pan" ignominy, someone should lead him to the practice putting greens. Then, probably 20 years from now, he may rank with Palmer, Snead, and Nicklaus-- top echelon golfers with LONGEVITY AS WELL AS SIMPLE "FLASH.'..and THEN he can peddle watches and Buicks all day long.

Yang has been around for a while and he showed, at Hazeltine, why he'll be around indefinitely. Don't minimize what Yang did. He played the Championship holes HUGELY. Tiger wins just under 30% of the matches he enters. THAT IS AMAZING!!! His game has never really been off when you compare it to everyone else. People's expectations are just too high when it comes to what he can do. 30% win percentage...that is unbelievable.

the golf courses are so mush harder now, tiger would have crushed every course back in the day. The courses now are much more demanding and alot longer. TIGER IS BETTER AT GOLF THEN JORDAN WAS AT BASKETBALL this guy is a freak. If you have the chance see him live.ONCE IN A LIFETIME KIND OF ATHLETE.

Agreed - Tiger is a one-of -a-kind athlete. However, Tiger would have crushed the older courses because they were designed for the golfers of that time (their skill sets and equipment).
Tiger has revolutionized the professional game of golf as we know it. YOunger golfer now lift, are in shape, and are completely different than the old golf stereotype. Anyone who doesn't believe golf is a "real sport" should watch TIger Woods play. Tiger Woods is the most recognized athlete in the world.

You should realize that the opponents tiger plays today have access to the same equipment tiger does. how can you say that he has an advantage over the other golfers you named? its not like tiger is hitting with a titanium driver and phil is using a persimmon head. jack used the same level of equipment as his opponents. Tiger is just a more dominant player, hands down. His win percentage is higher, he has more wins, and more majors than jack did at this age. not to try and own you
