  • BeOS was definitely cool and I'm happy to see it's still being developed in the open source community. Can't wait to try out Haiku.

Though I must admit the name and the little leaves on the logo are just....completely gay. Why couldn't they have named it SKULLCRUSHER OS or something.

    Come on people!

  • does this have web flash support : or even gimp : winehq ?

  • @goochbuntu or does this have html 5 support just wondering lots left out

  • @goochbuntu html5 support is rudimentary right now, so now html5 video support yet.

  • @goochbuntu It is not linux, so no flash, gimp or wine support

  • @llelectronics i didnt know flash was only for linux what do windows users use to watch youtube on the internet. also i thought gimp was for windows mac and linux. and wine is not just for linux wine is also made to work on mac i dont know if you heard of crossover a wine project

  • @goochbuntu cool story bro

  • This is pretty cool. I tried Haiku ages ago and I liked the general look and feel of it. I think they should really focus on integrating Haiku with the web. That's the direction that computers are taking anyhow.

  • I remember BeOS had really good support for audio applications (very low latency). What's the current state of Haiku's audio system?

  • @tb303pOsiTiv3 Latency is still low and Cortex (the audio connection kit basically) is still available.

Sound support is provided by native drivers and the ported over OSS (OpenSound Server)

  • @llelectronics I see. Thank you for response.

  • you are weaboo, man

  • The Stacking and Tiling window manager is the best implementation of this that I've seen. Makes window management an absolute pleasure.

  • @carnager yup, and compiz has been doing that for years!

  • haiku is wasting time in GCC 2. Must focus on GCC 4 and mobile devices.

  • @grendal742007 They are also focussing on GCC 4. Whats still missing is the mobile world thats true

  • Вышла милая

  • u can do the tab window grouping on KDE already

  • @gotbletu Yeah thats true aswell as in fluxbox (for ages I guess). But whats interesting is grouping and glueing 2 windows together. So that when you move or resize one it affects the other one aswell. This is a nice feature which seems to be unique.

  • @llelectronics i remember the had that feature in there 1st alpha, they demo it out but was never given to the users until now, but yea cool feature, seems easier to use then the compiz group feature

  • ya beat me to it mate, nice video, media player update is a good one plus all the extra codecs i have found...geezer...

  • This is very exciting. Great screencast and thanks for posting
