i work at nissan and se had one come in yesterday with 7 miles that was cvt and it was JUNK! enjoy it while it last qall cvts are junk nissan is still working out the kinks. Keep up on tranny service and make sure you never do a flush on it!!

@nooniensoong1 No. I have 101,000 miles on mine and it drives like new. I change the fluid every 50k on it. I also have a few customers at the shop that come in with close to double what I have with no issues at all

the engine takes a lot of strain from cvt being in 6k+ rpm for some time. CVT tranny's arent exactly reliable either. Nissan fails with moving to cvt.

They increased the warranty to 100k mi in CVT. The old ones probably are crap, but apparently not the new ones aren't.

ANY car can be made to be fast. Take my friend's 1990 Nissan 200SX. It's got a 2.0L 4-cyl with a turbo. It makes over 300hp and runs the 1/4mi. in 12.4 seconds on slicks, which is fast as friggin' hell from the passenger seat, believe me! Of course, it's rough around the edges, and I'd rather have this Maxima as my daily driver any day...

I can count on one hand the number of those I see driving around... compared to anything, everything is slow. if you don't like maximas, then don't get one. it's really that simple. I think 0-60 in under 6 seconds is plenty fast. AND, that 454 gets 12mpg, tops, and handles like a boat. I've been in chevelles, and if it's a pure drag car, running 9's, it's sweet, other than that, it's just a waste...

Given that, the G8 should be much faster, like 1.5 sec. I mean, the G8 has a HUGE size advantage from the engine. It's like apples and oranges, really. Besides, who would choose old-school OHV over a newer, more efficient engine design anyway?

CVT, infinite gear ratio :) I have this car it's quick! No time loss from shifting... stays in the peak powerband... ran a best 0 - 60 in 5.32 secs (only 2 gallons of 93 Octane in the tank) and 13.87 @ 100.15 @ Bradenton Motorsports park, 76 degrees outside. Just gotta launch it correctly, stage shallow... 1800rpm, the brakes can't hold, the car nudges then floor it.. you'll get a 60' of 2.17. This car is quicker than most people think...
