still, wonder's who u on about??? Phil??? U mean the keyboard player Mike Lindup I believe his name is???? Phil was guitar n brother on drums i believe or other way round???
It's such a travesty that the promotions people couldn't see that a band of this caliber would have NO PROBLEM recreating something completely comparable rather than having em' lip sync. (Phil's hilarious because at times it's almost as if he's spoofing a bit just to make fun of the situation.)
*This is a touching song... I was in high school when it came it out, and though my students now would think it sappy, it sure touched me during some of those early teen heartaches.
So sad that a group as talented and awesome as they are would would allow the promoters to tell them to lip sync. They will always be in my top 10 groups of all times !
All bands did it at Montreux - apart from Queen who played live there (only because their manager Jim 'Miami' Beach was involved with the staging of the Montreux festival).
Cave82...yeah he may be fooling around with his bass during this song but he is a master and has nothing to prove...check live performance of ......Something about you....
Absolutely love this song. I would cry when I played my drums along with it. Great band, man. Phil Gould is one of those drummers who did not get enough credit. What a great player.
Simply Superb! Feel so sorry for the gal he was leaving! But hey ! she would only of had kids, booted him out, had the house and lived on the Social ! ! !......so Tough to her ! !
This is a truly love song, with a haunting vibe to it,similar feelings towards a song called lying still from the world machine album.Does anyone agree.
watched them in concert 5 times and dispite changing lineups over the years the band are still the best around....shame they dont get the air play on radio like they deserve ,nice to see so many of you fans making nice comments about this great British band
I never liked it when Level shifted from their Jazz Funk roots to the main stream, but every now and then they made a masterpiece, this is one of them, timeless perfection!
This song brings me so many memories from Peru. It was 1987 and I used to play it in my car's tape player while driving along the coast going to and coming from the beach. Level 42 is one of my favourites bands
Oh yes, Mark, the pants are nice...........REALLY nice. Yea niiicccceeeee No, really I DO love this video, The guys are my ultimate favorites. Mark King....absolutely none better. Love ya Mate.
Can honestly say this is NOT my best video, This is SO NOT like them. The song is awesome, they look so forced in this, like sad that they had to lipsync such a beautiful song. Hey, it's okay guys, I still love ya. ;-)
And the costumes, I know they were worn in a certain video (To Be With You), but just not their style, think so? Look like dressed up pirates. And the fake playing of their instruments, Mark especially looks lost doing that. (Still so gosh darn cute though...)lol.
well i know they liked to put on the costumes in alot of their videos ...and i heard somewhere years ago that mark used to work as a mime in london before the days of Level 42 .. if my memory serves me correctly!
Heart-wrenching song, but beautifully wrenching at that, the end refrain is stirring with swelling synthesizers. Note the sax player still on stage from doing Running in the Family earlier.
A song to play softly, with your hand on her breast, twirl her nipple, while you you tell her no it is not about her, just a song you like, not the last time you wanna have sex with her
Aaaaahhhhh, the great 80's.

ARE THEY LIP SYNCING/Playing?!?!
look at Phil at :43 and :50 for example...I know they're beastly musicians but why are they singing to a track at the Montreux Festival?!?!
Moog167 3 years ago
At the Montreaux film festival at the time many of the songs were performed by Lip Synching...Those were the 80s:)
