  • Aaaaahhhhh, the great 80's.

  • Best track of Level 42 [2]. Beautiful!

  • amo!!!

  • I like this song!

  • Sad & beautiful at the same time...

This song really tells a story...

    A piece of art...

    ...

  • What's up with the Pirates of Penzance costumes?

  • @elsongs ha ha ha ha ha ha...

  • TEMÓN!!!

  • Such a great song, but I can not hear the trebles what I need! Although Very thanks to reminding me* Thank you for uploading!! Ludo (Belgium)

  • they are lip-syncing!!

  • still, wonder's who u on about??? Phil??? U mean the keyboard player Mike Lindup I believe his name is???? Phil was guitar n brother on drums i believe or other way round???

  • @WILDBOY122 Hi! Phil Gould was drums and brother Boon Gould was guitar

  • Yes!!

    Level 42 were awesome!!

  • fantastic, if not tragic song. my favourite level 42 song.

  • Best track of Level 42. Definately!

  • you have the best video ever!

  • It's such a travesty that the promotions people couldn't see that a band of this caliber would have NO PROBLEM recreating something completely comparable rather than having em' lip sync. (Phil's hilarious because at times it's almost as if he's spoofing a bit just to make fun of the situation.)

*This is a touching song... I was in high school when it came it out, and though my students now would think it sappy, it sure touched me during some of those early teen heartaches.

  • what phil does looks weird cos the wideo is not sync with the audio...

  • Such a sad song and a masterpiece that it's touching song on the minor and major scale's.

  • So sad that a group as talented and awesome as they are would would allow the promoters to tell them to lip sync. They will always be in my top 10 groups of all times !

  • ARE THEY LIP SYNCING/Playing?!?!

look at Phil at :43 and :50 for example...I know they're beastly musicians but why are they singing to a track at the Montreux Festival?!?!

  • At the Montreaux film festival at the time many of the songs were performed by Lip Synching...Those were the 80s:)

  • Wow thanks for letting me know....

  • Great memories from high school. Thank you Level 42, Thanks for post it!

  • End of an era.. and you can hear it! Really moved me as a kid this one. Beautiful memories from a great bunch of guys.

  • I'll second that, well said.Daz

  • times up

  • I LOVE ITS SONG

  • Thanks for the great post Morgan. I really dig Mark's pearl blue JD.

  • music at its best

  • Brings tears to the eyes

  • wow.. it couldn't have been long after this that the gould brothers called it a day? (as permanent members)

  • Goosebump music this is. Effin brilliant.

  • brilliant a great song an video to

  • brilliant song

  • damn..why are they lip synching?

  • All bands did it at Montreux - apart from Queen who played live there (only because their manager Jim 'Miami' Beach was involved with the staging of the Montreux festival).

  • Cave82...yeah he may be fooling around with his bass during this song but he is a master and has nothing to prove...check live performance of ......Something about you....

  • I love the Running in the Family album - one of the finest pieces of music from the entire 80's!

  • Absolutely love this song. I would cry when I played my drums along with it. Great band, man. Phil Gould is one of those drummers who did not get enough credit. What a great player.

  • Yep, great drummer!!

  • this guy is not really playing the bass

  • Is a playback but believe me Mark King......

play the bass without toching the instrument is a Real "King"

    God bless you

  • With Such Painful Lyrics, Somehow this song is beautiful.

One of the best by Level 42, a classic.

  • Yes it's playback, but it's the most beautifull song of Level!

  • It' s my favorite song from Level. But this a cheap tape they sin along with!!!Boehhhhh!!!!

  • great band! very talented! gr8 song! im into modern stuff but if ppl luk bak at guys like these, todays stuff isnt as creative anyone agree?

  • Very true.

  • Simply Superb! Feel so sorry for the gal he was leaving! But hey ! she would only of had kids, booted him out, had the house and lived on the Social ! ! !......so Tough to her ! !

  • This is a truly love song, with a haunting vibe to it,similar feelings towards a song called lying still from the world machine album.Does anyone agree.

  • Gosh! Does this bring back memories! 80's Where are you?

  • watched them in concert 5 times and dispite changing lineups over the years the band are still the best around....shame they dont get the air play on radio like they deserve ,nice to see so many of you fans making nice comments about this great British band

  • One of the best ! Level songs. Bring me good memories from our parents summerhouse in Hornbæk, Denmark ...... times goes by !

  • I never liked it when Level shifted from their Jazz Funk roots to the main stream, but every now and then they made a masterpiece, this is one of them, timeless perfection!

  • This song brings me so many memories from Peru. It was 1987 and I used to play it in my car's tape player while driving along the coast going to and coming from the beach. Level 42 is one of my favourites bands

    Alvaro from Toronto, Canada

  • Great song heh Morgan Hey good hunting.

  • beautifull song my favorite of level 42

  • Really sad, but pretty beautiful song. I really enjoyed!

    Congratulations! ^^ Kisses from Brazil

  • Merci pour cette vidéo !!!

  • Oh yes, Mark, the pants are nice...........REALLY nice. Yea niiicccceeeee No, really I DO love this video, The guys are my ultimate favorites. Mark King....absolutely none better. Love ya Mate.

  • Can honestly say this is NOT my best video, This is SO NOT like them. The song is awesome, they look so forced in this, like sad that they had to lipsync such a beautiful song. Hey, it's okay guys, I still love ya. ;-)

  • i agree i love them too but i have no idea what the point to the lip syncing was ...

  • And the costumes, I know they were worn in a certain video (To Be With You), but just not their style, think so? Look like dressed up pirates. And the fake playing of their instruments, Mark especially looks lost doing that. (Still so gosh darn cute though...)lol.

  • well i know they liked to put on the costumes in alot of their videos ...and i heard somewhere years ago that mark used to work as a mime in london before the days of Level 42 .. if my memory serves me correctly!

  • geat song but bad quality but any way thank you

  • Cool, i really enjoy this. i have the VHS tape of the voncert. Thompson twins are great too.

  • Heart-wrenching song, but beautifully wrenching at that, the end refrain is stirring with swelling synthesizers. Note the sax player still on stage from doing Running in the Family earlier.

  • This is magic

  • A song to play softly, with your hand on her breast, twirl her nipple, while you you tell her no it is not about her, just a song you like, not the last time you wanna have sex with her

  • ao vivo eh o cacete.....playback eh crime!!!

this is not liva!.......playback is a crime!!!!

  • timeless pure class

  • Wonderful, yet lonely song, by an exceptional band, the close is marvelous

  • thanks for sharing this wonderful song with us

  • One of my all time favorites!..Thanks for posting.

  • wow BRILLIANT

  • classic tune only seen em live twice but blew my socks off

  • Yeah, sorry you're right!

  • Huh? Well it is live unless the crowd has been super-imposed on!

  • Listen, you'll hear Mark Playing bass. Watch and you'll see he doesn't even touch his bass. He always did that when they had to mime.

  • Best song ever! I can't believe they sound as good live as the actual song does. Amazing

  • Another great vid from you Morgan. I love Mark in his uniform he looks hotter live in it than in the TBWYA video!

    Amanda x

  • WOW-I had no idea there was a VIDEO for this!! ONE of my very favorite L42 songs EVER>

  • Who said they went to commercial?

    Great song though!

  • love the costumes!
