Actually what happened was that Emmetts functionality started high, then dipped. His true nature got the better of him and introverted him. So his family detoxed him and other things, which would boost anyones brain functionality, let alone a childs.
This led him to recover the ability to learn and 'perform', which facilitated him to look Neurotypical. It is not recovery from Autism - but I am not knocking your achievements.
