Spectacular theme! I would have the 59 second, longer version like the original show, but people's attention spans are so limited these days that it isn't possible. Aside form advertising space, etc... But anyway, I am glad that it retains come of the original motifs. My entire family LOVES this show. We loved the old show in the 1970's.

The new Hawaii Five-O and original Five-0 are really different TV shows - the characters in each are so very different. Like in the original, Danno was really Steve's second banana, whereas in the new version they're more like Butch and Sundance. I like both shows, but it's unfair to compare them directly.

I'm very disappointed that the re-make of the Hawaii 5-0 has such a shortened theme. There's something very special and powerful about the FULL theme...ok so maybe not the 3 minute one but please like someone else here said don't cater to the folks with short attention spans. Go for length used in the original version of the show, please!

Now a days they do anything to squeeze as many commercials into the time slot as possible including posting advertisements on top of the closing credits, etc.

I agree with you because the original theme song lasted 59 seconds by Morton Stevens and was a very powerful theme song. I still have the TV Soundtrack on LP33rpm record. The full version was produced for the Pilot lasting more than 2 minutes. Also another thing about the new HFO why didn't they change the theme of the material... why copy the original .. they should have done it with new scenes.

Glad they used this theme but it needed to be the full theme. I'm sure even the a.d.d. could hold out for the full minute. TV sucks now without theme songs on tv shows, there is nothing to get you pumped up about theme.

My mom and uncle don't like that the new McGarrett doesn't wear a suit. I told them he wore it in the intro, he will in the future,and it's hot there! And then when they see the original Dano and Steve have to run down to the pay phone to get help, they do question that. The new Hawaii Five-O show is at least a decent vehicle re-haul of what we liked about the classic show. My one thought is that the new theme is only on for 34 seconds, not the full minute that the original one was on. Are today's people so driven to not enjoy the theme song so that their attention span is so limited?
