The fight looks so unimpressive. I remember fighting Promathia, and the epitome of FF11 for me: Apocalypse Nigh. Have they made anything even remotely equivalent to that?
@Cyanidesin Yeah Alexander fight "looks" very unimpressive. However, Promathia and Apocalypse Night are total joke of a fight as long as you know what you are doing. Alexander on the other hand, can be annoyingly hard depend on what and who you go in with.

FFXI is a community based game. All of your leveling will be done in a party with others. NO quest/missions to gain exp/levels. Compared to all other MMO's FFXI is the most time consuming.

Also WoW didn't make mistakes like the warden which I hear took WAY too long to beat. Also travel in WoW is a lot simpler, you didn't need a pass to board the deeprun or ride a zep...There's other things that I can't think of at the moment, but yea in spite of being a RPG-focused company, Squeenix can't make a proper good MMO...

I'm assuming that you've only done kara or started playing WoW since the WOTLK expansion. As someone who has finished CoP, ToAu, gotten to the 3rd tier of the Dynamis bow ,obtained 4/5 of the sky gods equipment and a member of one of the few guilds that completed the sunwell raid during BC. I'd have to say you are full of crap. Maybe if you've done a real fight like M'uru then maybe you would've know how it really works. If you plan to tell me M'uru is easier, name one FF fight that is harder.
Sorry, FFXI is harder, its easier to screw up/lose the harder fights in FFXI, Most of WoW's fights have devolved into brutal rage timer checks, or "hard mode" faster rage timer checks.
Sunwell was pretty tough, but all they really did up until Kiljaeden was boost the required amounts of dps to more ridiculously high amounts that most people couldn't keep up with. Kil'jaeden, now he was an awsome fight.
Omega/Ultima when they first came out, brutally hard, brutally fun.

Yeah, hes called a galka but honestly its what job you pick you can wear any types of those armor (Job Specific). For example Artifact armor is only armor for ONE job like paladin
I agree but plot and graphics have not all that much to do with it although i agree with you completely. FFXI is much more Strategic, SC, MB, etc. It requires much more skill than WoW, and i believe that that is what separates FFXI from WoW.
As much as I love FFXI, it is definitely not more strategic than WoW. WoW raid boss are a thousand times more strategic than FFXI's battles, but FFXI is a great game anyway. I like it more than WoW.
FFXI: RoZ and CoP full clear. Most of the fights in CoP were a joke. Mind, I did this back in 2007 when the content was actually new. Had sea access way before most of the players on my world (Hades).
WoW: I'm also fully geared in T8.5 gear in Ulduar too.
2007 is new? hahahha, I had this stuff done in 2004/5, FFXI is FAR harder than WoW... and here is why, WoW's stupid rage timers have made every boss into a simple burn fight, oh they have little gimmicks that result in instant death if you do it wrong, that doesn't make it hard. Just means morons can fuck it up for you.

LMAO!!!!! the only reason bosses in wow are "strategic" is because they move in a faster real time environment. FFXI bosses aren't usually a 5 min enrage timer. they are a 10-15 min endurance fight. which means 10 min worth of work and 10 sec worth of screw up all work is lost. not too mention the consequences of delvling for fubaring your role. keep trying to compare wow to this it'll never be in the same class.

Love this game and hopefully gonna play it again soon.For those curious this game has a pretty solid community, but is harder than a lot of other mmos, and requires patience. But it's soooooo worth it. Game is fun.

The Cash Shop idea seems like a good idea on paper but when you consider the massive amount of people on this game, the rare equips would be common and everyone would be overpowered. If they were to implement a CS they would need to redo just about every job/equip for balance so that the ppl that camped a monster for 13 hours has an advantage over someone with a little extra in their bank. This game is hardcore, you character is a reflection of your time and work.
not sure if this has been said before, but the battle is much easier if you tank is outside of Alexander's melee range. have your other DDs stand away from your tank, so they wont get hit from unnecessary AoE. our setup was: pld/rdm, rdm, whm, smn, cor, sam, and we went 1/1. had about 45secs remaining, but still a win is a win.
thats just because the person recording is keeping his distance if you look at the people attacking with weapons you can see he is more then twice the size of a player character
I just beat this pigly som B after 5 tries!!! He used his 2 hour and didn't kill anyone first time then killed almost everyone second time...got him to 1% with bio on wiped then as I got up to get MP to nuke he died XD

WoW is fast but I like FFXI to its feel and I don't think Final Fantasy ABS Was fast at all, plus slow gives some time to think instead of WoW were alot of battles are over in mins I like to savor the battle not devour it in seconds.
i play ffxi as well and while i can appreciate an epic battle... fighting the same mob for near an hour is ridiculous. i have other things to do in my life...
why WoW is childish compared to FFXI. the reason why FFXI is slow is because it gives the player time to think and enjoy the game where as WoW its more fast based and everything almost comes to you on a plate saying "eat me"; this meaning the exp from quest.
how does the leveling work in this game? is it similar to WOW like up to certain level? what about the fighting is it really slow and what about the command keys in the video i dont see any symbols or anything indicating an ability? and the armor how come almost everybody looks the same with like cloth armor? in anybodys opinion is it better than wow or whats the deal? i bought the game and i havent had had the time to install it and just wanted someones opinon.
Some answers in order : 1)lvling is a total grindfarm, but your forced to play in group to level (with exceptions) and quest don't give exp 2) The fight here is slow because this is a particular fight, usually is more active 3)the armor looks the same because.. are the same. There's many other armor avaiable who those ppls don't using in thit time 4) Wow and this are completly different. And regarding no icon of ability, is because the interface isn't point-and-click but with a menu or macro
I would say if your not willing to put alot of work in then do not even bother. This game is a hell of alot of fun once you get p to end game. Im not trying to discourage you but this game takes alot of time and patience. The ffxi community is great and most people are very mature compared to a game like WoW.
I agree on that, I had a friend who played WoW and FF at the same time, He went to put something up for alittle under the normal price and some guy started yelling at 'im cause he did it. (on WoW of course, all of us on FF just complain about rmts)
i just started playing again after 2½ years man.. and they let me restore my character. you have to have your old reg codes, at least one of them. everything was there down to the last earth crystal.

my party was BLM/WHM, WHM/BLM, RDM/WHM, PLD/WAR, SAM/WAR (me), and BLU/WHM. We came down to the wire, 2 minutes left on the clock, Alexander was about to spam his final use of Divine Judgement (I think that's what it is) and I slammed Tachi: Gekko ftw.
Fun fight, had the BGM stuck in my head since I beat the battle...
Sucks, the .BGW is encoded in a way that not even winamp's codec can read... Has something to do with the way SE Encoded the ATRAC3 with some Autherization code that POL has. I don't undersand why though... Probably so they sell more copies of the OST when it comes out. :/
I already looked, and downloaded the codec. It doesnt work, and on threads I've looked at, ppl can't crack it. The ToAU BGW's are encoded differently than the original game's BGW's.

Only POS would be useful and it's been patched/fixed. Flee tool could help, however during an AV or PW fight you would be banned instantly.

the servers are mixed theres no japanese/euro/american servers if you can buy an english version and pay via credit card you can play

I just beat this pigly som B after 5 tries!!! He used his 2 hour and didn't kill anyone first time then killed almost everyone second time...got him to 1% with bio on wiped then as I got up to get MP to nuke he died XD

on AltanaView the songs name is "Ragnarok - Battle with Alexander" so it's either that or just Ragnarok

WoW is fast but I like FFXI to its feel and I don't think Final Fantasy ABS Was fast at all, plus slow gives some time to think instead of WoW were alot of battles are over in mins I like to savor the battle not devour it in seconds.

i play ffxi as well and while i can appreciate an epic battle... fighting the same mob for near an hour is ridiculous. i have other things to do in my life...

why WoW is childish compared to FFXI. the reason why FFXI is slow is because it gives the player time to think and enjoy the game where as WoW its more fast based and everything almost comes to you on a plate saying "eat me"; this meaning the exp from quest.

Taking its time is what makes all the FF games so good. I have never had more fun than the 30min battle I had against the behemoth king in FF12.

FFXI is slower because its a console game, WoW is a PC game, PC only games are always faster.

how does the leveling work in this game? is it similar to WOW like up to certain level? what about the fighting is it really slow and what about the command keys in the video i dont see any symbols or anything indicating an ability? and the armor how come almost everybody looks the same with like cloth armor? in anybodys opinion is it better than wow or whats the deal? i bought the game and i havent had had the time to install it and just wanted someones opinon.

Some answers in order : 1)lvling is a total grindfarm, but your forced to play in group to level (with exceptions) and quest don't give exp 2) The fight here is slow because this is a particular fight, usually is more active 3)the armor looks the same because.. are the same. There's many other armor avaiable who those ppls don't using in thit time 4) Wow and this are completly different. And regarding no icon of ability, is because the interface isn't point-and-click but with a menu or macro

I would say if your not willing to put alot of work in then do not even bother. This game is a hell of alot of fun once you get p to end game. Im not trying to discourage you but this game takes alot of time and patience. The ffxi community is great and most people are very mature compared to a game like WoW.

I agree on that, I had a friend who played WoW and FF at the same time, He went to put something up for alittle under the normal price and some guy started yelling at 'im cause he did it. (on WoW of course, all of us on FF just complain about rmts)

i just started playing again after 2½ years man.. and they let me restore my character. you have to have your old reg codes, at least one of them. everything was there down to the last earth crystal.

I (Vandyr) uploaded it and then Keisho uploaded it. Keisho was in my linkshell when this video was made, but the video was actually made by Terenyx.
Technically, neither me nor Keisho owns this video, but since I was actually there for the fight, in the party, with the maker of the video, it makes a little more sense for me to host it than Keisho. ;P

my party was BLM/WHM, WHM/BLM, RDM/WHM, PLD/WAR, SAM/WAR (me), and BLU/WHM. We came down to the wire, 2 minutes left on the clock, Alexander was about to spam his final use of Divine Judgement (I think that's what it is) and I slammed Tachi: Gekko ftw.

Fun fight, had the BGM stuck in my head since I beat the battle...
Sucks, the .BGW is encoded in a way that not even winamp's codec can read... Has something to do with the way SE Encoded the ATRAC3 with some Autherization code that POL has. I don't undersand why though... Probably so they sell more copies of the OST when it comes out. :/

I already looked, and downloaded the codec. It doesnt work, and on threads I've looked at, ppl can't crack it. The ToAU BGW's are encoded differently than the original game's BGW's.
