As for sorry, I love the native australians and have done much to help. The danger with an apology, is it provides an excuse for continuing in a life where responsibility for the present situation is passed onto someone else. Talk to most homeless people, they are not their mistakes, its someone elses fault (drugs, bad luck etc etc).
A person will never attempt to stand on their own two feet while people feed them all the excuses in the world as to their present position.
Imposing... interesting. Perhaps you assume that the Indigenous Australian communities are perhaps simple and incapable of choosing which religion is the truth? There are many Indigenous Australians who proudly worship Jesus. They are very glad to have been given the opportunity to know Christ.
Am I assuming that? I don't think i am. You're the one who's made a massive assumption not me - you've assumed that a person can actually choose a 'true' religion.
People like you are almost unreachable and not worth wasting breathe on...having said that, perhaps try and engage your ming and ponder the fate of the many indigenous Australians who have the opportunity to now Jesus but are not convinced. Or the fate of any non-Christian for that matter. What a nasty devisive force is religion.
Plenty of people, Aboriginal people and non-Aborginals, are given the opportunity to know Jesus and plenty decline that opportunity. And there is no reason that those people won't go on to lead fulfilling, compassionate and meaningful lives - in fact more meaningful lives..and most do.
I suggest you read up a bit - even the Catholic church now acknowledges the incredible harm it has done evangelising and interfering with local custom. Grow up.
thanks for standing up a saying this phil....too many people around me so totally blew me away with their underlying racism on the subject....it's a breath of fresh air hearing you say this....
