  • How do I say this?? Tiff is wrong! I'd have the ST over the Golf any day! Unless it was an R32, but then I'd have the Focus RS over the R32 any day!

  • I wonder how far behind both these cars my own Peugeot 306 TD would be around a track. I did a mild tune on it from 90BHP up to about 120BHP but it's got a high quality aftermarket suspension setup that makes these cars look like jellybabies on cornering. I could go for a flat out 200BHP tune but am a bit of a miser and don't want to lose my 50 plus mpg, not to mention risk throwing a con-rod or two. Can't have it all ways I suppose. I'm available to sexy women and for after dinner speaking.

  • Focus all the way! You cannot get a better hot hatch for the same money, is the Golf worth that extra cash? Nope! The ST has more torque and makes a nicer noise than the Golf, plus it is setup better for practical day-to-day road use, where these hot hatches are usually used, and not on the track so Tiff's opinion doesn't really count in this review unless you're an avid track user. For all you GTi loving dickweeds ready to cry me down, take 20p and go tell it to someone who gives a shit! ╭∩╮

  • @dkingd1980 Brilliant mate...I have a 60 plate ST myself...255bhp fucking mental speed. Not as fast as the RS I know...but the ST is setup for day to day use as you say. Very nice to drive...really smooth.

  • hothatched*.co.uk

  • I can't understand what all the arguing is about. Every car has its flaw and these two are no exception, however, I've driven both and I can honestly say that both these cars are very good and if you own either, you are a lucky person.

  • 1ns4ne1d10t has a MASSIVE chip on his shoulder concerning Ford, he owns a Daewoo Matiz, then is spouting off on here which should tell you a lot about the type of person he is. Everybody is entiltled to an opinion, but this muppet takes the piss, I think the best advice ANYONE can give him is to scrap that lawn-mower engined junk he owns, and increase his earnings somehow so he can fulfill his dreams of owning a proper car instead of wanking his shit brains out over one.

  • Does anyone notice that if you scroll down on the comments all the Anti-Volkswagen Ford fanboys (RSTBADBOY, Nakke144, getmeblad, etc etc) are all having their Anti-GTI comments marked up as SPAM? Says a lot, the GTI is the better car because its properly engineered and the GTI is also not hyped up in TV reviews as the best drivers car like the Focus is. The GTI is so spot on it never wears out its own tyres does it? Ha ha

  • You can talk and talk and reiterate your bullshit trying to convince people on here how bad Ford is, but as I have pointed out in my previous posts you cannot argue with the facts, you're obviously a sad, pathetic hating little excuse for a man who has got too much time on his hands to research "how bad Ford is" and post it all upon here and wanking your brains out over desiring a VW Golf GTi when you haven't got one and own a DAEWOO MATIZ piece of shit car! Go buy a P-reg Polo and mod it!

  • @getmeblad You are right, you cannot argue with facts and those facts have been proven that the GTI is the better car as demonstrated by Fifth gear. I'm very sorry if you cannot hack it and you feel you need to publicise me as a troll thats fine, do whatever you like. It just goes to show you that trying to out snob a Volkswagen with a Ford does not work and its been kindly demonstrated by you. Come back when you own an Audi A3/S3/RS3 and then perhaps you can snob the Golf till the sun goes down

  • An astra vxr would prob piss on both these hatches. Poweerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr as Clarky always says

  • @efc0106 Power is nothing without control, even Clarky said he wouldn't own this car for fear of the abysmal torque steer which would result in the VXR being wrapped around a tree.

  • @getmeblad ...Clarkson contradicts himself just like you do so its no good taking advice off of him. He wouldn't own a VXR yet he would own an RS which makes no sence at all because an RS is worse because not only does it torque steer abysmally it is also more powerful with it and is therefore more likely to join bark up the wrong tree (Or wrap itself round it). And don't forget it gets worse than that - the Focus RS500 = 350 horsepower through front wheels wow thats just asking for a crash!

  • I bet you dream every night of owning a VXR or a comparitor, I also bet your Matiz sounds like a lawn mower when you start it up in the morning. I'm not going to say there is absolutely no torque-steer or drama through the FWD of a Focus RS or RS500, but the differential copes with it rather well, unlike your MATIZ, I'd rather the power of my car wrap me around the tree as opposed to the power of the side winds which would wrap your Matiz around the same.

  • @getmeblad I don't dream of owning a VXR or a comparitor because I'm not one of those small-cocked pathetic little men who needs one as a penis extention unlike your good self. Thats funny you should mention side winds because my Matiz isn't affected by any sidewinds. Daewoo designed the car so it doesn't do that with evidential wind tunnel testing before they released the model and Matizes like mine don't do that. It just goes to show you what a mindless idiot you are.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t You are a joke, you Matiz isn't affected by side winds? Have you gone onto parkers.co.uk and read the owner reviews on your so called car? One owners says he gets blown around on the motorway whenever a big car overtakes him LOL, your Matiz has a euro NCAP 3 rating (ouch), all focus` 05-on have a 5 rating (I guess NCAP are lying about that), the handling and performance of your 'car' have scored 2 & 2.5 out of 5 respectively, when the ST has been given 5 & 5 out of five!

  • @getmeblad I read one about a 2008-present Ford Fiesta and the driver said closing doors sound like a piece of empty tin, road noise sound like humming trumpets of the world cup, and the tinny radio hisses tunes. I almost fell on the floor laughing at what one guy said about a Focus, I just couldn't stop giggling. At least Daewoo don't lie by making out they are a corperation who sells premium cars using the slogans "Feel the difference" and comparing Mondeo's to BMW's and Audi's lol.

  • You are a class A idiot, who mentally doesn't know how to respect people's personal opinions, and wanks his brains out over what he hasn't/can't have (A Golf GTi). Parkers.co.uk have an opinion, and their opinion is that the ST handles better than the Golf GTi, so what now? Are you going to start a hate campaign against Parkers.co.uk now that you have read this? Slogans to sell things, you dickhead, Ford is clearly not a premium car manufacturer and they know it, they're not lying to anyone

  • @getmeblad In parkers opinion (Not fact) the ST handles better then the GTI. In reality (which is Fifth gear) the GTI outhandled the ST which wasn't an opinion, it turned out to be a fact so in the bin goes the parkers statement *Throws it in the trash can* and whats more, the GTI didn't wear out the walls of its own tyres while simutaneously being over a second slower around their test track compared to the Golf. So who is the loser at making the cars... Oh dear... Ford HAH!

  • Monica vs Brandy? That made me laugh! Well, shall we draw a line underneath this now as its getting tedious? Lets sum things up, basically, you hate Ford and think they're lying to every customer and their cars are shitter than a severn trent cesspit, correct? And I am defending Ford, cursing your car and trading insults with you and think that the ST is better than the GTi. If any of us is wrong, then let it be, but we're both entitled to our opinions. I TRULY rest my case.

  • @getmeblad We will draw the line... Lets sum things up you hate Volkswagen and I hate Ford just as much and my Daewoo Matiz is untouchable the intense three cylinder engine is an animal its got a Tiz-tec engine which revs up to 8,000 revs and it literally pulls you back in your seat and it overtakes things like its got a rocket attached to its rear bumper. No really... It gives me neckache quite frequently all Matizes give you neckache with BRUTAL acceleration.

  • @getmeblad Mate, torque steer doesnt just occur in VXR's u know? You get it in Focus ST's, Clio Sports and other FWD performance cars. People should learn to control it and stop crying about it, A limited slip differential (LSD) can fix most of the torque steer anyway if you are prepared to fit one. It makes a more fun drive anyway.

  • @efc0106 I wouldn't bother replying back to him if I were you. He wouldn't know about Limited Slip differentials or 4WD its too much information for him, he doesn't know anything technical about cars so don't even bother explaining it. He just knows how to put petrol in, MIGHT be able to find a bonnet catch and possibly put oil and water in it but thats about it. Mind you ST drivers are all the same, none of them are clued up on engineering or mechanics so it settles my judgement really.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t True.

  • @efc0106 Him, like many other Focus ST owners feel sore and bitter because Fifth gear proved to us that the Golf GTI is the better car out of the two cars in the competition and it hurts them. We don't have to say anything to defend it, the programme speaks bigger volumes over an internet troll. In any battle there will be winners and losers and the ST was the loser because it is obviously a crap car that cannot compare to a Golf so why did they bother? Fords are cars for losers anyway. lol

  • You are the loser, fighting VW's battles when your don't own one you sad act. Even if you said you owned a warm hatch, I'd let you off, but you don't even own a proper car, it is funny that you have convinced yourself that people are impressed with the lawn-mower sound of your Matiz??? You're seriously deluded, like I said, if you had a GTi I would half respect you, but you're showing people how dumb you are! Again I will ask, how can you talk shit on ST's when you own a Matiz???

  • @getmeblad Jesus christ me and you are turning like Monica vs Brandy now, Its good entertainment though. You could say its as fun and as entertaining as driving my Matiz and I never have a dull moment in that car and thats what matters. No amount of speed or power can make me smile as much as my Matiz does and I don't care if it will never shit on an ST speed isn't everything its just fun to drive and it has character which is what a Ford will never have. Sorry.

  • I am aware of that mate, I have it in my ST, but not nearly as much in the VXR, it is just A LOT worse in the VXR because they haven't made a decent chassis, neither is the suspension any good, the differential in the ST helps to LIMIT this problem, but I don't cry because I did my research and test drove the ST before I purchased it.

  • @getmeblad Well im glad you did your homework and still failed to realise that sitting in the ST is identical to sitting in an old Transit van like the ones we have at work. A RARB fitted to a VXR will also fix other issues on the chassis and handling but that stems in to modifications. Btw have you seen the glut of STs on the used car market now? And they are bloody well cheap.

  • I want to get a GTi and a remap it just for the sake of pissing all the cocky underestimating ST drivers off. They assume every GTi Golf is standard and they assume every ST WILL be faster. Its just nice knowing that in a GTi you will always be safer to go round a corner no matter what power you give it and not end up in a tree sucking on the airbags unlike a Focus ST. German engineering... Ford is marketed as the "best drivers car" but it still doesn't come close to the Golf... Sorry Ford.

  • Well its a shame if you have to remap your Golf to compete with the Focus. IF and I mean IF I was to remap my Focus, it will still piss on the Golf's grave so sorry mate, you lost there. You go on about cornering, but the video link you posted was cars in a drag race, now lets face it, in a real scenario (on the road), between an ST and a Golf GTi side-by-side at the lights, what would happen? Please answer this question! You mentioned "I want to get a GTi", so tell me, what car DO you have?

  • Comment removed

  • If you remapped your ST it would get oil diaphragm, fuel pump failures, ruin the clutch and DMF before you could even start the engine for it to leave the rollers so it would be a GTi pissing on an ST's grave there I'm afraid. In a real scenario between an ST and a GTI side-by-side there would hardly be much of a difference especially if the GTi is DSG which only puts it 0.2 of a second slower to an ST. Don't delude yourself on ST's too much when a Golf turns an ST carries on going straight!

  • Really? Is that why so many ST owners Bluefin, Dreamscience or Wolf tune their cars? If all that would happen, surely people wouldn't mod their ST's? Again I say, your arguement defies logic. The ST's cornering is not as bad as you make out, if you think ST's handles badly, try driving a VXR! But I bet you prefer it to the ST?? The clever FWD differential in the ST limits torque steer and with the corect tyres (Eagle F1 Assymetric 2's) there would not be much difference in the handling!

  • @getmeblad According to you I thought the ST was alleged to be "So fast" as standard it wouldn't need mountune or any of the above mentioned. And I thought you said if you wanted a 900W microwave you would buy a 900W microwave and you see the logic in "Beefing the Watts" so why would you beef up an ST when there is an RS...

  • @getmeblad ...you are the one who would prefer a VXR over an ST not me. You laughed at the 0-60 time in the Golf GTi in a straight line when the GTi is better round corners and bends and when I started laughing at the ST's inferior handling abilities to the GTi you started yabbling on about straight line performance. The VXR will piss on the ST for that but then again you forgot the Golf that knocks an ST's 0-60 and knocks it in the corners too = The Seat Leon Cupra II. Oops

  • @1ns4ne1d10t Watch this > youtube.com/watch?v=y-fyBBkrMHc&feature=related. You are truly a class A idiot, I don't know why you are trying to kid yourself and other people here on this forum, those Diesel engines are obviously chipped and the cars modified, so that video stands to reason! Now talking on STANDARD terms - here are the facts (courtesy of parkers.co.uk) -

    Golf GTI 0-60 = 7.0 seconds, top speed = 146mph

    Focus ST = 0-60 = 6.6 seconds, top speed = 150mph.

    Do the math.

  • We aren't that bothered about a GTi losing 0.4 seconds and 4 miles an hour because it still steers and handles better then an ST. Thing is we can remap the GTi to laugh at the ST and still go round conerswith it! You can't. So all you ST drivers will look stupid when you race a GTi thinking they are all standard. Knowing Ford the claimed "150" miles an hour is probably an over enthusiastic speedo its probably 140 really. The Golfs is probably more accurate and tells you the real Mph lol.

  • Don't try and dumb-down the stats, you can't argue with them! Ask any ST driver, watch the 150mph vids too. I got 145mph out of my ST and I still had 2000rpm left to go I would have easily got to 150mph, but I ran out of space, suprise suprise it was a Golf GT TDi driver in front of me LOL. And BTW you should be bothered about the 0.4 secs and 4mph simply because - ITS FASTER LOL! I know if the Golf was faster than the focus, you would not let me forget about it, would you? FOCUS RULES!

  • Speedometers are more inaccurate in cheaper cars then in more expensive cars and they tend to be over enthusiastic as a pose to under enthusiastic. Your so called "150mph" isn't actually the true 150mph yours is 7 or more miles an hour less. And have you any idea ST's don't leave the factory with a fixed 221 Bhp? They can be right down to 204 Bhp. Hate to burst your deluded bubble but it shows how much you know fuck all about cars.

  • Dude, you seriously are a piece of work! Watch the EVIDENCE on youtube, I reiterate, I got 145MPH (with 2Krpm left) out of my STANDARD ST before a Golf driver slowed me down! You cannot convince people otherwise so stop trying as you're making yourself look like a complete plank. Your opinion is I don't know "fuck all" about cars, but what I do know is the ST WILL get to 150mph (I've heard reports of 160mph)and beyond and the Golf probably won't. All this from a Matiz driver HA HA, you muppet

  • @getmeblad Evidence? Sure... Your 145 is probably 138 in reality but the speedo is making you feel all fuzzy and excitied by lying to you. Go and look up speedometer calibration and learn something new because you will find that speedometers get more and more futher out in accuracy the faster you travel. Shows us how much you know about cars and pretty much tells us you havn't got a pair of balls in your little sack. This is why people buy GTi's, people like you give ST's a bad reputation.

  • Just for this record as well, I was going my TomTom OK?

  • @getmeblad Do you know what? I was doing 100 in my Matiz the other day, got really excited and was banging my head and going "Yeaaaahhh boyyyy" but then I found out it was all in Km/h. I thought it was a bit fast for a Matiz oh well never mind...

  • The VW Golf is a cheaper car then the Ford Focus as a comparitive base model and not only is it cheaper it is also rust proofed, better equipped and has far better residuals then a Focus. VW don't make 1.8 Golfs with rear drum brakes and actually put the quality and attention to detail in and it still manages to be a cheaper car. Just goes to show you that Ford are nothing but a money grabbing American company out to make money and not cars. VW give everyone what they want hence "Peoples car"

  • I know far too many people with ST's that have been 100x worse then any of the so called Golf faults you mentioned. VW don't actually say any of their products are prestigue you half-wit thats why they have Audi in the group Audi is marketed as the premium one. Besides its Ford who bullshit and lie about everything with the "Feel the difference" so called quality when they all fall to pieces before your eyes. Sell your ST, buy a Golf and come back when you have a valid arguement.

  • You nob jockey, if they don't "say" their product is prestige, why do you get so many yuppie-wannabe dim-wits like yourself trying to act like you have gained 'status' just because you've purchased a VW? Nothing has 'fallen' off my ST yet after a good time of ownership so who is bullshitting now? The ST in my opionion is a much better car than the Golf so take your Golf (if you have one which I imagine you do), save 5K and Part-ex it with the S3, and come back when you have a valid arguement.

  • You get just as many if not MORE yuppie-wannabe dim-wits driving Fords! You are one of the majority. Just because your ST hasn't happened to fall to pieces... YET (Probably because you rebuilt the entrie build quality with proper bolts, screws and glue or its brand spanking new) doesn't actually make them a good car. ST's are built horrendously! Tell you what I'll take a Golf, remap it and I'll laugh at an ST. You just can't hack it because VW know how to make hatches DRIVE properly unlike Ford

  • Sorry mate you sound obtuse, Ford drivers are not yuppie-wannabies like VW drivers, I have not rebuilt anything, everything is standard (sorry to burst your bubble), I COULD (if I wanted to) remap my ST and still piss on your remapped Golf, or then I could take a Focus RS and anhihilate your sluggish (compared to the ST) Golf GTi. The Focus ST would even keep up with your overweight 3.2 V6 Golf R32 lead truck, and the RS would kill it, you just can't win can you? Its a bad day for you I know.

  • Unfortunately the RS will just sit there wheelspinning and once it stops spinning it will torque steer itself into a tree so an RS is out of the question. The RS has to be able to get off the line to be able to kill things sweetheart and it doesn't do that very well. The R32 does pretty well without a turbo, a 3.2 keeping up with a 2.5 turbo charger isn't bad. And not only is the R32 much heavier than an ST, it still goes round corners better then an ST. Shame on Ford

  • Whatever Mr Matiz, you know what, on second thoughts, you should have lied about what car you have, compared to a Matiz, a Polo ain't bad at all, my bicycle tyres probably have a bigger tyre profile that your Matiz, couldn't you have bought something better? I mean c'mon man, you're on here spouting off and cussing ST's when you own a MATIZ, how do you think that makes you look? If you're planning to buy a Golf GTi, all power to you mate, but until you have the keys and log book to it, STFU!

  • @getmeblad At least my Matiz has been reliable and cheap enough to save me the correct amount of money to buy a Golf GTi. My Matiz is a very fun car to drive its got character an ST doesn't have any. The three cylinder makes an awsome V6 noise and turns heads and its quite a lovable car so why should I lie? Shows I don't have anything to prove, get yourself a personality... No wait... you don't have one thats why you've got an ST - enhancing an ego when you aren't an interesting charater.

  • Well you keep saving mate, so you're a cheapskate then, you could buy a Corsa 1.3CDTi, looks and is much cooler than your Matiz, and saves even more money too, but one thing I've learned about you is you don't think logically. If I was you, I would scrap that 3pot shite you have, it probably turns heads for laughs because people probably see you looking like Fred Flinstone in your sorry excuse for a car, do you go on the motorway and fear side winds? 0-60 in 22.6 seconds?? Thats just a guess?

  • @getmeblad Keep saving mate, so you are a cheapskate then, whats that? I could have bought an Audi which is much nicer and more desirable than my Ford ST? One thing I've learned is that fuel injection was designed to eliminate backfiring from the banger image so what does that say about Ford? At least the Matiz will never be the word SHIT with H and I taken out to make ST. At least I get noticed, people don't even notice you in yours because its such a common and foul car.

  • You get noticed for the wrong reasons, your Matiz won't even be common cuz people take one look at it and think "I ain't buying that". The only ever way you will get the feeling of lift-off oversteer in your Matiz is to go driving on windy day and hope that a lorry overtakes you in the process. You could probably fit bicycle disk brakes onto your Matiz and experience a 15% gain in stopping power LOL. Don't Daewoo make microwaves?? What a joke, no wonder your car was rebranded as Chevrolet.

  • @getmeblad At least my three cylinders make a nicer note then your ST and the noise makes people turn heads unlike yours. Ford are the ones who stick rod operated drum brakes on everything which are much worse then bicycle brakes at least Daewoo use disk brakes even if it was from a bicycle which puts Ford to shame because Ford still use prehistoric drums. At least Daewoo can make half decent electrical appliances as well as reliable cars the same can't be said about Ford now can it?

  • You seem to have an unhealthy attachment with Ford (I've checked out your channel). What is wrong with you? You don't seem like a balanced individual, what has Ford done to you? Whatever it is you need to get over it as it seems to be consuming your life, I bought a lemon of a Fiat once (hence why I wouldn't buy a Fiat Coupe 20VT Pennin Ferrina like you suggested), but I moved on from that, I haven't started a hate campaign against them like you have with Ford, extremely weird of you mate.

  • Ford drivers are worse then yuppie-wannabies. Remap your ST if you want to, But be sure to call the tow truck! And when you go round a corner, say hi to the oak tree for me. I'll tell you what, I know a really nice Golf that pisses on ST's in a straight line and pisses on ST's around the corners too - The Leon TSi Cupra and its not even a Cupra R! He hey... Seems like a nice compromise. Remap that bitch and it pisses on a remapped ST and might even play chase with an RS!!!

  • OK wannabe Golf driver, I can just imagine you with your Matiz, you've probably fitted a vaccum cleaner hose for an exhaust, cut your arches and fit 17" wheels, put massive vents on your bonnet, added a K&N induction kit and chrome gear knob from Halfords. After picking up a cheeseburger from McD's you will probably attempt to race a Ford Fiesta 1.4 Zetec and get dealt with. You can't chat shit on here when you have a Matiz, go buy your Golf, remap it and come back on here and talk to me boy.

  • @getmeblad At least I am not lying about putting all that on my Matiz! Half the things I've seen Ford put on ST's as standard makes you wonder. I'm quite certain Ford use cold hairdryers for a turbo, Coke cans for fuel and oil filters, Macdonalds straws for fuel pipes, hoover nozzles for intercooler pipes and more. They do it to save money you see, Ford is one of the american trio so its no surprise. Its a joke that a 1.0L Matiz does 0-60 in 11.5 seconds and a 1.4 Fiesta does that too.

  • Comment removed

  • It actually educates you into how bad Ford is as a corperate business and how they brainwash naive idiots like yourself into buying their products, sorry slop. The links I provide are very uselful, factual and interesting. Ford is of the big trio, very scandalous and devious and I provide this information for people to see. Its amazing how many messages I get from people who tell me about their bad experiences from Ford motor company. I'm Sorry if you find the education "weird"

  • Educate? Is that what you call it? You are trying to "educate" people when you own a MATIZ LOL! Thats like asking Chaz Bono to teach me atheletics?!?!!??! You're not a passionate driver or else you wouldn't have bought that piece of shit, you could have opted for an old PUG 205 GTi??!?!? And you say i don't know shit about cars! If Ford are sooooo 'bad' as you make them out to be, then why has the Focus been the best selling hatchback in the UK over the last decade? Answer that one please

  • @getmeblad At least I will have a driving liecence to carry on driving with a Daewoo Matiz. My insurance company doesn't see me as a knob ATM and I will be granted access to be able to insure nicer cars then ST's at a fraction of the cost of what you pay. The Focus has only been best selling because its been raved about in reviews all over the world and advertised so heavily to the point of that people are robotically brainwashed into buying it <- Just paint a turd gold and advertise it!!!

  • My insurance company see me driving a high powered desirable car and I can afford to pay it, lets face it, no one will nick your Matiz, people would rather nick a 50cc 2-stroke scooter, and probably get to their destination on it quicker LOL. Focus` has proved reliable over the years, a value-for-money no nonsense car, so you're telling me that ALL those UK people who have purchased Focus` over the years are brainwashed?? Wake up and smell the coffee dude, its about time you do.

  • @getmeblad Desirable? ST's are totally undesirable made worse by people like you and lets not forget how ST170's were more expensive to insure over the Seat FR 1.8 20VT because of the bad boyracer image when the 20VT was a faster car. The Focus has been anything but reliable, you should see the recalls on VOSA compared to Seat and Volkswagen. Do you realise Focuses have had 3 different types of Fire risks in the engine bay? The Golf only had one fire risk and Seat had none. Says it all really.

  • Thats what happens in production you dummy. The more you produce and sell, the greater chance of error, hence why the Focus was the BEST SELLING hatchback over the past decade, thats what says it all. Well Focus ST's are much more desirable than "Microwave making" Matiz's. Ask any lucid person (which you don't seem to be) and they WILL say an ST is much more desirable than your MaShit... sorry Matiz. At least Ford make cars not electricals appliances and cars on the side.

  • @getmeblad The whole western civilisation is more stupid and naive then any other country and our women are stupid enough to hand thousands of pounds over to Turkish conmen time after time and give themselves in to advertising so that might give you some hint as to how the Focus became best selling. Mashit? At least you can't make witty names or accronyms relating to Daewoo car names linked to turd or rubbish like F*ckus or SHIT (Remove H and I and you have ST) so I think the law has been laid.

  • Fifth Gear prefer the Golf GTi, and thats fine, it is their opinion, but you're a real prick for making out that ST's are are rubbish as they're are clearly not. If you ask any decent person on here who prefers the Golf, they will say the Golf is better, but they won't say the ST is bad (just like the 5th gear team did, Vicki BH had nothing but praise for the ST & Plato was impressed by it in seperate reviews) but YOU have to be an obtuse cock-munching wanker with your pathetic tirade on ST's

  • @getmeblad Fifth gear prefer the GTI because it is a better car then the ST and it hasn't had to prove itself. You are the one who is slagging off everything that isn't a Focus ST you just don't like it because someone is giving it back against the Focus as good as you are dishing it out about the Golf. Sorry if you are unable to hack it but when fanboy meets fanboy this is what happens doesn't it?

  • @getmeblad "At least Ford make cars not electricals appliances and cars on the side" If Ford did make electricals they wouldn't work... so its a good job they don't. I mean Ford can't make a simple cooling fan module without causing a fire in the engine bay, they can't even make a PAS steering hose that doesn't catch ablaze and they can't even put a set of injectors in a TDCi without making them leak. At least Daewoo know how to make things WORK unlike Ford.

  • ST drivers are just bitter to the bone because they can't afford a real 5-pot A3 with Quattro which is what they really want because it goes round corners. The cheapest way of getting the burble and noise is to buy a woefully poor 221 Bhp Focus ST which falls to pieces and loses money in depreciation like its out of fashion. Poor state of affairs, why not buy a GTi with a remap, you get to corner with the added performance and you won't long for an Audi so much.

  • Pathetic! Its VW drivers who want the Audis not Ford. The cheapest way of attempting to keep up with the Jones` is to buy a dull Golf GTi everyone will look at you like some sad-act Audi wannabe in, just so you can say "I own a German car". Sorry state of affairs mate. I don't want to remap a car I buy, the other day, I bought a 900W microwave because I wanted 900W in it, now why would I go out and buy a 700W microwave then try to beef it up to 900W? That defies logic doesn't it?

  • ST drivers are the ones who pick up a guitar and sing songs about how they picked up a German Ford built in Cologne when all the parts are still produced in Spain and Dagenham "Oh wow I drive a German car too and I paid less for it... Bargain" sad really. I would only have a 700W -> 900W Microwave over a 900W stock Microwave only if that 700W goes round corners faster then the 900W. If I put 700W -> 900W I can have the speed of the stock 900W plus the better cornering you see - makes sence!

  • Microwaves cook/warm food mate, they don't go around corners (the last time I checked anyway LOL) even though your Matiz looks like a microwave and a 900W microwave probably has a bigger power to weight ratio than your Matiz, now thats what makes sense to me LOL! Again I will say, put Eagle F1 assymetric 2's on the ST and the cornering difference won't be that much different than the Golf's. Some advice - take your Matiz, scrap it, save up and hire a Golf for the day and then talk your shit.

  • @getmeblad I was being heavily sarcastic but I was going to leave that one for you to work out which was silly of me because you need a brain to be able to do that. Why don't you throw yourself inside a microwave? Microwaves cook pork! Believe it or not some Microwaves are built on trolley castors and probably corner better on them but all I know is that they are sure as hell more useful then any Ford but then so is my Matiz. Ha ha

  • So your Matiz is more useful than a Ford Transit or Ford GT? You're giving me some serious laughs on here today! Sorry, I cannot fit in a microwave so I'll pass on that, FYI microwaves don't cook meats properly just like your Matiz doesn't handle properly, understeers and gets blown around by side winds. I dread to see you attempt to overtake a lorry while your engine is probably screaming at 4000rmp in 4th gear doing 65mph. Usain Bolt on foot would probably beat your Matiz at the lights.

  • @getmeblad What are you on about!? I was calling you pork because you can't educate it and you never understood the jibe did you? Oh dear. Your ST doesn't handle properly either, at least my Matiz isn't powerful enough to test the understeer to end up in a tree. I also dread to see you attempt to overtake a lorry just waiting for that laggy turbo to pick up before 4,000 RPM getting LESS lower then a Matiz during that interval when a TDI Golf picks up and laughs at the lorry right after 2,000 RPM

  • I don't wanna understand your weird jibes, coming from an even weirder person who owns a Matiz and chats shite on ST's. There is minimal lag from the turbo in the Focus, acceleration is from 1.5Krpm ALL THE WAY up to the redline (7Krpm) which would leave a TDi Golf in the dust when it is out of puff at 4-5Krpm, most diesels pull like trains from 1.5-2Krpm but only up to about 4.5Krpm (I've owned a 150hp Astra 1.9 CDTi sri), when the focus has 2.5Krpm to go laughing at you all up to 150mph.

  • @getmeblad No turbo petrol lifts off with dieselly torque on 2,000 RPM unless it has an anti-lag system in place because the turbo in a petrol spins on hotter weaker exhaust gasses and needs to be near the max Bhp zone where the inlet valves break out the power after 4,000 revs. Diesel turbo's spin on cooler gasses and are quicker on pick-up. There is only a 14 mile an hour top speed difference between a 2.5T and a 1.9 TDI Oh dear thats poor for a "mighty" 2.5 turbo petrol don't you think?

  • @getmeblad "laughing at you all up to 150mph..." The sad fact is, as I already pointed out don't you think its rather weak when a big 2.5 litre five cylinder engine armed with a big turbo charger with rated power at 225 horses only gets to 150 miles per hour? Its poor considering a much smaller capacity 1.9 DIESEL TDi made by Volkswagen with only 150 horsepower as standard has a top speed of 136 which is only 14 miles an hour slower? A bit poor when you add it up and do the maths isn't it?

  • Instead of investing so much time on here, you should invest that time into making more money, because you clearly aren't making enough! One thing I will reiterate is that you have a very unhealthy attachment to Ford, your channel is a hate campaign against Ford and I really feel you need to deal with the issues going on in your maggot-eaten crayfrish brain. If someone has the money to and wants to purchase a Focus ST, then that is their personal choice, they obviously have the money to run it

  • @getmeblad Instead of investing so much time on here why don't you go out and get yourself a job because you will need the money to pay back for the expenses won't you? Knowing you, you probably wangle thousands of pounds in state benefits and got the ST off of motability or more to the point your mother and father bought it on finance and pay the X amount of money each month and put the car on their insurance as a main driver and you as a second driver so you can afford to drive it.

  • Just for the record, I am an e-learning systems manager working for the local authority. I am unable to claim benefits because I am employed in this capacity, I couldn't get a car from the motobility scheme because I have no disabilities or ADHD children. I am financially independent of my parents and I have paid my own fully comprehensive insurance policy up front with no second drivers on the policy. However, if you choose not to believe this, never mind.

  • @getmeblad No I believe you... No really...

  • On parkers.co.uk, the ST has been given 5 out of 5 ratings for both performance and handling, the Golf GTi has been given a 4.5 & 4 out of 5 rating for performance and handling respectively, however as you don't own either of these cars, let me give you the stats on yours. The MASHIT, sorry MATIZ which you own, has an overall rating of... wait for it..... drum roll.... 2.5 & 2 out of 5 for performance and handling respectively ROTFL - time for you to buy a new car methinks. Stop hating loser!

  • @getmeblad ....Zzzzzz... Zzzzzzz... Zzzzzzz... Zzzzzzz... Zzzzzzz... ZZZZZZ *Rolls over* Zzzzz... Zzzzzz... Zzzzzz... Zzzzzz... Zzzzzz... Zzzzzz... Zzzzzz... Zzzzz... Cough cough Zzzzz... Zzzzz... Zzzzz... Zzzzz... Zzzzzz...

  • Lastly, I REALLY would like to know what car you own? Tell the forum please, as you have not yet claimed to owning a Golf GTi are anything else???? You know what, I hope for your sake you do own a Golf GTi or something better, and not a P reg Polo or something, otherwise I will laugh you to scorn on this forum. And BTW please don't lie and say something like "yeah man I got a Golf GTi W12-650!" Haha!

  • @getmeblad I have something much better than a Golf GTi W12-650... I have a Daewoo Matiz. At least a Matiz doesn't tell the world you are compensating for a small penis...

  • Maybe not, but what owning a Matiz tells me is that either you're a complete cheapskate or you need to increase your earnings, in your case I would say the latter. You cuss the reliability and handling of the ST, but your Matiz is about as reliabe as a Conservative/LibDem pledge and couldn't out handle 50cc scooter! Because I own an ST, then I must automatically have a small penis? By making this statement you've proved that you ARE a small penis and that you have crayfish for brains.

  • @getmeblad At least my Matiz never drinks my income and leaves me with tatty clothes and trainers falling apart thus leaving me to wear cut-priced tracksuit bottoms and burberry hats at JJB and JD sports instead of decent fashionable clothes. Ask yourself this, if you didn't have anything to prove and you were so secure as a person you wouldn't own an ST

  • Sorry mate, but unless they're hustling, chavs cannot afford ST's they're just too expensive to buy and run, chavs own Saxo VTR Ricers, probably just like you pimped out your Matiz just to gain a sense of 'passion'. I have NOTHING to prove, I just own a car I wanted to buy because I liked it, however you have everything to prove as you are chatting shite in a hot-hatch debate when you own a Matiz, not even a Passat or Bora or Polo, a MATIZ!!!! Don't go for a drive on a windy day will you? LOL

  • @getmeblad So how long have you been hustling then? No you don't have anything to prove do you? No of course you don't. The thing that differentiates me and you is that I don't go round with nothing else better to do in my Matiz picking races with 300 hosepower Imprezas and Lancer Evo's with an ST and half the time they cannot be bothered to race so you all accelerate away laughing at them while they use their hot hatches and fast cars to do other things apart from race people.

  • how the hell is he getting a fwd to oversteer?

  • @tittiebanana

    Its called lift off oversteer.

  • @WhiteWolfDrums ahh I see. Thanks!

  • i mean, just look at how much better looking the golf is

  • Golf is/was/will be the icon... but the Focus is better... & it gives you a better balance between powwr/fun/style/equip. The Golf is more expensive and has exactly the same... oh & Focus sounds lightyears better than the golf!!!

  • VW GTI Rules Forever and Ever!

  • My favouryte Golf, The V...

  • this is the reason i watch top gear.

  • @lividity I agree top gear is good, fifth gear sucks.

  • FOCUS IS THE BEST !!!

  • Great Video! But Can you drift on a bike like us??? :o

  • PFFT VW badge prestige, bs fan boy talk. Typical old mans conclusion. Where's your badge prestige when your stupid door has fallen off

  • @intrinsicS2 LOL are you insane? Is he not allowed to be a fan of a company just because he reviews cars? The Vdub was the all around winner hands down. As for doors falling off, I have never even seen doors fall off of even the shittiest cars. VW is high quality, they own Lamborghini, Bugatti, Skoda, Bentley, and Audi. I do not know what world you live on but if you think VW is shit I am scared to death to imagine what you would call high quality lol.

  • @CakeOrDeath88 Cry more, they're shit. Go have babies with your golf if you love it so much. Your offspring will be ugly box looking freaks (but much loved by fanboys).

  • @intrinsicS2 lol I love to take grape jelly and rub it all ova my vagina to the golf GTI.

  • @CakeOrDeath88 WTH, you're a woman? Why are you watching car videos then, you don't even know how to drive.

  • @intrinsicS2 My husband usually keeps me locked in the kitchen. At night time he sticks me in a well after I cooked him his three meals. He makes me put lotion on that will take my skin off so that he can make a suit for himself. Sometimes I hear Good bye Horses playing from his room...

  • @intrinsicS2 Oh are you bothered by it? If you think that is terrible you should see when he splits me open and pisses on my insides. It's ok though because I used to be a man. He took care of that useless thing I Had called a penis though. Car insurance went down a great bit because of it too! Sure some would say my life is sad and I should not have to put up with it. My asshole lining is in the shape of a peanut now as a result of all the raping I take. But at least I still have my left arm!

  • @CakeOrDeath88 If you want to poke some fun at Focus ST's and Fords lack of power and inferior engineering at VW's expense watch a few of these: watch?v=jQ_4qlrbdSc / watch?v=zxI8z2rPh_U

They are Focus ST's getting beaten by Skodas and Seats with Volkswagen Diesel engines in them. Oh dear.

  • Too true! I know 2 people with Golfs that have had endless trouble with them, rear door won't open, handbrake problems, engine lights/problems amongst other things, so much for prestige! We ALL know the Focus hasn't got the best build, but at least it doesn't try to pretend to be something its clearly not - so for all you Golf owners out there, remember you are driving a VW and NOT an Audi. Take TEN years, save up and buy an S3, then you can come back on here with a valid arguement.

  • Sweet as .. my E30 230 eats ST's .. Tiff,sweet slides m8 :) ..

  • go the ford focus!

  • One of those guys looks like The Dude

  • @guydeguy The dude just wants his rug back...

  • @Smurfacation The Dude abides.

  • id track ?? gti

  • These guys are fucking retards..

  • @SamTheTwoCan

If you mean the Renault RS you should look at the upload date of this video.

They didnt get rid of it because it didnt excist yet....Laooosuuuuhuuur ;)

  • Man if those losers didn't get rid of the Renault it would of smashed both of those around that track!

  • How the hell is he drifiting the turns??i thought it was fwd??

  • @trece92 Momentum, oversteer, amazing skills.

  • Tiff is just too GOOD!! He can oversteer and make the tail slide with an FF car :D

  • I would go for the ST, you can get much more power and tuning out of the 2.5L engine of the ford focus.

  • @Slungs1. yes and no really. maybe compared to the standard golf gti t, but the edition 30 has uprated internals that can cope with big power. you can hit the near the 400bhp mark without touching inside the engine, where as you would have to with the st.

  • 2:33 :D

  • Comment removed

  • how is the music called that starts at 1:43?

  • WTF, he ran off the track in the ST, and they give the win because the Golf was 1.5s quicker?

I know, this obviously isn't a serious review, because the ST really is faster around a track. But still, rewind the video and watch him run clear off the track for a good 100-150 feet, I think that might equate to more than the 1.5 second difference.

Stupid review, but fun to watch and I love the show.

But the ST is still the better car. 20Valve, 2.5 litre 5 cylder, LCD... all it needs is better tires.

  • @HypnoticSuggestion

The Golf will out sell the Focus because it's a better car.

I'm not bothered my 1.8T would beat both cars around a track.

Stop being a troll, Tiff has driven so many cars that his opinion is valid and yours is invalid.

  • @18T220 Ur response to the slower GTI, is the fact that it will sell better? The ST is a very limited production car by comparison. And who asked about your fugly 1.8T?

The exactly definition of a troll, is how you just responded to me. I'm just a username on the internet, wow.

And you're the one comparing Tiff to me, and yet you don't know me. You assume anyone who enjoys youtube for entertainment is a teenager is his parents basement?

Fuck ur 1.8T. My VR6 and Viggen says, FUCK a 1.8. owned

  • @HypnoticSuggestion

lol my 1.8T has 275bhp, it will own your old banger of a VR6 and i'm only 22 not 30 like you.

    Bye Bye loser.

  • @18T220 Why must you turn this into an argument, this is the internet, we all have 12" peens.

But seriously, if indeed you've got 275 on a 1.8T, hopefully GTI, then very very nice.

Why ASSUME my VR6 is stock? (It's ProCharged) & why pick on my VR, when I have a Viggen, do you know what a Viggen is? Saab Viggen, with T3/4 hybrid Turbo @ 25.5PSI 335WHP. Both cars have FULL suspension/Brembo's & much more. I can link to pics of my VR6 and Viggen, can YOU? If so, LINK, reply and I'll post my proof.

  • @HypnoticSuggestion

Sure old man, you mailed me first so just don't reply.

I don't care about how good or bad a lier your are.

You sent me a message, so your a troll. Discussion OVER.

  • @18T220 This discussion IS over, I sent you a message with the pictures of my cars, which are much, MUCH better than your lowly 1.8T, who's short block can't even handle 22psi without blowing up. Yeah, my friend lost an engine because of it, why do you think VW retired the 1.8 for the 2.0?

Read your messages, I sent you pictures of MY cars. My MKIII VR6 is incredibly superior to ur 1.8T.

WAIT: If you even have a 1.8T, why no video on ur channel? Show me PROOF, I gave my proof, in ur INBOX.

  • @18T220 Old man, I'm 30, you know it takes a very long time to finish college. I don't understand, you're incredibly provocative, ALL I want is proof you even own a 1.8T. Why no video or picture of it on your youtube channel?

But, even if you do, you still think it's better than my 12V, ProCharged MKIII VR6? What about my Saab Viggen, or better yet, you think it could outrun my 556whp '04 Cobra? Kenne Bell 2.8 buddy. Bring it. Yeah, that's a joke, would be funny though, come to Nazareth Raceway.

  • @HypnoticSuggestion

    Golf wins you fail.

  • @18T220 Golf wins, I faild. DUDE, I own a fucking Golf lol. I Love them, I'm not trying to shit on Dub's man, christ I'm being coherent you cannot follow me here?

I love them all, I simply stated that ^^^ THIS, particular GTI is not faster than THAT particular ST. If you don't believe me, google it, search for races, timeslips, anything. Look at the difference in power, plus the ST is nearly 300lbs lighter!

Be gone with your rhettoric, mistakes you make, padawan you will always be.

  • @HypnoticSuggestion Also GTi 30 Golf 2.0T (06) 0-60 mph 6.4 s Weight 1376 kg Power 226bhp Top speed 151mph ST Focus 2.5T (06) 0-60 mph 6.6 s Weight 1317 kg Power 221 bhp Top Speed 152 mph Golf is faster than the ST to 60mph and around a track.
  • @18T220 I'm referecing the new Ecoboost ST, but: I still believe those stats are deceiving, the torque of the Volvo engine is far more important. Both the Euro ST and Ecoboost ST's are lighter than the 'new' GTI.

I'm getting the ST that they're releasing here. 2.0Litre 247HP / 260TQ, lighter than the GTI (No doubt it will be, GTI's are heavy) and tons more power. I need a new car.

Btw, I love WV, & I OWN a VR6, I'm NOT fucking biased toward VW. Click my name and see my cars, wtf. Links etc etc

  • @HypnoticSuggestion

Ha ha ha quote ''I simply stated that ^^^ THIS, particular GTI is not faster than THAT particular ST''

You never said the new ST you said this one. This Golf has more power than this Focus and is faster as shown by Tiff in this video you have no argument.

    You fail hard old man.

  • @18T220 Dude I simply made a mistake in my description, and I admitted it, what do you want, just to insult people over the internet?

You keep bragging about the Golf, and you fail to realize, I own one! I've owned 3 of them! The 2.0T '06 GTI I had was incredibly superior to the 1.8T's I have in my club, and anyone who loves and knows VW knows that.

But regardless, you think I'm against the Golf, lol... I just prefer the MKIII, that's all, what's wrong with that? They're great cars, bigot.

  • @HypnoticSuggestion i agree with this kid. i own a 03 gti 1.8T and it is inferior to the 2.0T but it still beats the VR6

  • @18T220 Also, you're absolutely MAD if you think a stock 1.8T Golf is quicker than this Euro ST, c'mon? He's got 80hp, 100 tq, and several hundred pounds advantage, and add LCD, those ST's hook up nice off the line. I had to pay $1,500 for an LCD for my GTI, they DON'T come with them stock.

Now, if you're braggign that your "modded" 1.8T is quicker than this, "stock" ST, you're out of your mind with ego and ignorance.

  • @HypnoticSuggestion

Get a grip little man and stop posting comments to me.

  • @18T220 "lol my 1.8T has 275bhp, it will own your old banger of a VR6 and i'm only 22 not 30 like you.

    Bye Bye loser."

You're a bigot, and you're too young, arrogant and ignorant to realize it. It's a goddamn car, not the messiah.

You just automatically assume you know everything about a person, or in this case, my car? 15 years I've had this dub, and you think it's stock..lol. And what the VR can't put down, the Viggen rips to shreds.

  • I think Tiff would prefer a Civic Type R

  • the Focus looks better than the GTI

  • Tiff is the man, Golf GTi wins.

  • @18T220 Golf, too many on the road. Nice to drive a Focus ST in the U.S. Nothing against the Dub, I own a '97 VR6 GTI. But this new ST, Direct Injected 2.0 Turbo is sick. It's lighter with the smaller engine & overall slightly smaller car. Honestly, I think both the Euro ST & the American ST coming late this year are superior to the GTI. GTI's are large/heavy.

Also with DI and TiVcT, awesome tech. Also how nice to drive something 'other' than a Honda or Dub, but also faster and more desirable.

  • Where's my revs?!

  • thank you very much - love your taste

  • I love the comments, fords are better than VWs and that VWs are for the "poor people".

Wow some people are seriously deluded. Iv got a mkv gti, and have driven the st. Decided on the golf (not because it drove so much better) but because I don't need a fake Burberry cap to drive it......

  • @since247 LOl.. ST's are absolutely smelly cars.. they sound horrible.. i ONLY see chavs driving them, probably rentals.. the interior is just revolting.. all about the VW baby! had the Mk5 GTi for about a year.. what a thrill!

  • @Hypster123 Hah, right. Not a chance versus the Focus ST that's coming to America. 247bhp, 260tq, several hundred pounds less. And, as nice as the Euro ST, with the 20V Volvo 2.5T, the American version (well the brit car is partly American) will spot the 16 Valve, Direct Injected 2.0 Turbo. On paper it's faster, well Ford says so, doubt they'd like to their investors. Don't get me wrong I love the Euro car as well. But the Ecoboost is incredible, simple software should bring 300+BHP/320TQ.

  • @HypnoticSuggestion Ah shit, I just realized this video is very old. The new ST's are quite a bit improved, while the GTI's have gotten heavier, and heavier, and heavier, and bigger, and with the same damn engine, well basically.

Typical GTI 2.0T 200bhp. American ST 250hp, 260TQ, The Euro ST just as amazing, not as powerful, but so so so satisfying torque curve, they surge like a GM900 Saab Viggen!

  • @HypnoticSuggestion I must agree with the poster of the video, this is not a proper review. They should test them proper, performance, interior and exterior design, technology, and perhaps consider price.

Still a fun video to watch, although I quite like the ST, by far.

  • I too love the comments on here, but matter of opinion is what everybody is entilted to here.

I've got an ST and personally, I think the ST has much more character than the dull VW (you can't beat that burbling 5pot) plus it is faster, and when people see me in it, they don't think I'm trying to be something I'm not, which is the case with a lot of VW GTi drivers, they 'kid' themselves that they're driving a prestige car when really they would have bought an Audi S3 if they could afford it!

  • @getmeblad If you wanted a burbling five cylinder and a non dull car with lots of character you would have bought a Fiat Coupe 20VT Pennin Ferrina and not even bothered with an ST. No one looks twice at an ST they are like crawling ants and half of Englands got one so its not characterful and original to own one. GTi's are much rarer and more desirable its just that the cheapskates with no brain cells in the head buy an ST and the show has proved the GTI is the better car out of the two.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t WTF are you on about you imbecile, I don't want any unreliable Fiat engine, and before you spout off about Fords being unreliable, the ST has a Volvo engine in it. The ST IS FASTER, so if the ST is a crawling ant then logically, that makes the Golf a slug you muppet. You say half of England have ST's but where? I don't see that many where I am (West Mids). I've seen more GTi's on the road than ST's, and mostly wannabe-yuppie twats in them who can't afford an S3. ST is better!

  • @since247 Just think of it like this... A Golf is a Focus that has been built properly to the standard of how a car should be built. A Focus is an example of how you don't build a car. Deluded Ford fans are just bitter to the kegs and can't handle the fact that Volkswagen and Peugeot ruled the hot hatch era in the 80's and 90's and still rule it now. They were all convinced the 2.5 ST would nail it this time... It hasn't so what does that tell you? Volkswagen For-the-WIN again and again...

  • Oh and GOLF FTW!
