Manson was not a Scientologist. He did not even read all of dianetics. Even if he did, it doesn't make him one just as reading the Bible doesn't make you Christian. Manson dabbled in a lot of spiritual teachings, doesn't make him anything. Besides that, if you think Manson had mind control over people then you are stupid. Charles Watson killed because Charles Watson wanted to kill.

Manson studied Scientology in jail and used several of their techniques later for controlling his family but he really wasn't impressed with what the Church of Scientology was doing. One time in the summer of 1968 he asked the receptionist at the CoS in downtown Los Angeles, "What do you do after `clear'?", because Manson already claimed to be "clear". When she was unable to tell him anything he hadn't already done, he walked out. So Manson was even BEYOND Scientology, just doing his own thing.

I think what is being sugested isn't what Tex did. It's what Charlie had learned to do as a result of scientology. Which was very effectively brainwash people and have them do whatever it was he wanted or told them to do. So along that line of thinking. Those murders were carried out as a result of what Charlie took from Scientology. Had it not been for Scientology Charlie may not have known how to gain that kind of ultimate control over his "Family".
