The first part: Those who are dead are not dead they're just living in my head, can mean that he still thinks about dead friends a lot. Falling for the spell, he lives in the past or possibly feeling suicidal, then when the music starts it has sortof a sinister tone like 2:20 but then "You thought you might be a ghost" might be a near death experience. Then the end, he didn't learn anything from it. That is just my take
