  • Basen is Black gram flour after removing the skin of black gram, you can find this in any indian grocery store.

  • @Manjulaskitchen Is besan black gram flour.../is it same as chickpeas flour please clear my confusion

  • @Manjulaskitchen I thought besan was Chana flour? bengal gram flour?

  • @ArgoSG

yes besan is chana gram flour.

  • @ArgoSG it is bengal gram flour

  • @kareenaklemons besan or gram is also chickpeas or garbanzo beans

  • thank you so much!!

  • great receipe i will try it thanks

  • hi Aunty ji

I m very big fan of urs

can u make the ladoo from wheat flour i like that very much but i dont know how to make

    thank u for wonderful recipes

  • In my list of things to do

  • your method of doing BESAN LADDU is really gr8....thanks a lot...

  • what's the ingredient after the almonds ?

  • Hello aunty,

I tried this but initally while frying besan, it formed a stiky paste. So I kept adding more besan and sooji till it started looking like yours. I roasted it and was able to make it into firm ladoos but they dont taste well. I can still taste the raw besan taste. They get soft enough if i microwave them. Can i correct them now by roasting the mix again on stove for a while and reshaping them into laddos. How do I know besan is done? I was getting a sweet smell when I did it earlier

  • check my website for detailed method I am sure you will find your answers.

  • hello aunty i tried making these ladoo's but i dont know why the mixture became very soft, what can i do to correct it?

  • Looks great!

    Two questions though:

Can I use oil insead of ghee?

Presumably sooji (semolina) is for texture? Can I just replace it with more besan (I am coeliac)?

    Anyone?

  • Answer to your first question:

No, butter or ghee will harden and set at room temp. If you use oil the ladoos will go flat.

    Second question:

Yes, you can replace sooji with more besan.

  • Namaste Aunty, i tried this sweet today.

    It really came wonderful.

My hubby liked it a lot.

    Thanks so much Aunty.

  • Basen mix should be still warm when you are making ladoo or add more ghee.

  • Nice receipe and great method auntie, thanks for the video

  • Hello Aunty ,Can you please tell how many grams besan does your 1 cup measure? Thanks!!

  • Hello Aunty,

Thanks for the info. I can follow the same measurement for your other recipes too. Thanks a lot.

  • hi aunty , tried them today ..came out wonderful :) , can u pls tell me whether we shld keep this in frigde? or outside in air tight container? would really appreciate your reply it as i dont want to spoil them :) thanks a lot

  • aunty i tried it but i can't bind it or i can say i cant give a round shape.when i put it on the plate it's shape is just finished.what sud i do?

  • this receipe is so easy and delicious thanx

  • Hello! so that looks mouthwatering, thank you for posting it. I do have one question...when you took the mix off the stove it looked a little clumpy but you have a smooth paste while you added the sugar....does that happen with kneading? or would I need to add some liquid ingredient to achieve it? Thank you

  • Wow, I didn't realize that they're so simple to make!

How do you store them after you have made them? Should I put them in the fridge or keep them out?

    Thank you! :)

  • hello aunty, i have a question. is it possible to replace the sooji with something else? my husband cannot have anything made from wheat, so if i use sooji then he won't be able to eat it.

  • you dont need to use sooji, I use this to give little texture.

  • I tried the non-sooji version today. They have an almost chalky texture. I think the sooji definitely makes more sense. All in all, still delicious.

  • I have started a diet. Can I substitute I love its not butter or margarine in place of real butter/ghee.?I know taste will differ but really want to try this.

  • You may try and let us know

  • yeah I never knew it was so easy to make ladoos.

    Thank you.

I love all ur recipes as my mom died when I was small and had to learn to cook myself and its hard to get recipes for all gujarati recipes.

    Thank you aunty.

  • turned out super tasty...and was easy to follow. Thanks !!!

  • This looks like a great recipe and will definitely try it as my hubby loves indian sweet.

    Thank u aunty!

  • Hi Manjula aunty...i want to ask you that..the sugar must be in power form or the regular sugar we can use for this...??

  • Thanks for this recipe!

I suffer from a gastro disease(UC) and have very limited food choices. But i was amazed at the recipes u make. Many are suitable for me since u don't use garlic, onions and the ingredients r so simple. Thanks!

to anybody who's laddoos weren't staying in one place - use a bit more butter - i saw my mixture was a bit dry so i added some and your hand really has to be very firm when you make them into balls!

  • That was an incredibly easy recipe...Manjula I am so thrilled to try all that you have shown...THANK YOU for sharing these recipes:)

  • I can't believe it! It's so easy! I only get to it this at my friend's house during Diwali. Now I can have it all year round!! Thank you!

  • Hi Aunty,

thankyou so much for sharing this great recipe .. i've question that how can i store these ladoos and for how long, thankyou so much for your time and really appreciate your reply..takecare.

  • Basen ladoo will stay good for almost a month keep them inair tight container.

  • Hi auntyji,

Can i prepare this in microwave? if yes for how long? As i am a working lady i hardly get time to make sweet dishes and cant be near the stove stirring it for long :(

  • Dear Auntyji, thank you very much for being so kind to share your recipies! Im not an Indian, but my husband is Indian, and like most Indians he is very happy to eat home-made indian food cooked by his wife. Im still a beginner in Indian cookery, but now that i 'discovered' your videos, I'll learn very well and much easier. Bhagawan aap ko kush rakhe!

  • why do the ladoo do not take shape it will just sink down when i put on the plate

  • That was fantastic - but isn't there a way of frying it?

  • Aunty,

I made some, and well.. i nearly had a disaster... but then i managed to rescue them, i decided to use margarine rather then butter as it would have been better... but the margarine just dried up then i had to add some butter on top.

Also i think they were too dry to roll into balls to i used some cling film and filled a spoonful of the mixture on it then i made it round with my hand and left it 4 a while. they stayed round

they turned out yummm - Dadi Jaan

  • Question : Should i use just melted butter or make a complete ghee out of it then use it ?

  • just melt butter that will work great

  • Thank you very much in taking time in making these videos and posting them.

I have messed up besan ladoo recipe so many times...i have been told different method..i am going to try this soon. thanks again

  • Thank you Manjula.

  • thank u so much aunty.

I love them but here in the uk its a bit difficult to get them, as they are rated as less then motichoor ke lado, as its ramzaan its great timing i will inshAllah make it and let u know of my progress! - Dadi Jaan

  • forgot to say, that i made them for the first time and i have not much experience in cooking. your videos make it look so easy.

  • Hello Aunty,

looking at the video, i got a craving for ladoos and made some today, they came out so well and perfect, not too sweet. the only problem was it was little too dry and they used to break when i tried to make ladoos. i tried making them when the basan was warm, but still it was dry.

  • next time add little more butter.

  • Auntie...ALL your recipes. are "TOP-NOTCH"!!!...Easy to understand and informative...(You're a great teacher!!!) Your family is really lucky to have you as their resident chef!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Looks very good! KtC

  • wow i have a sweet tooth can't help it wow gonna try it wow anty u make everyhing seem easy all da best

  • Thanks so much aunty.. this recipe is awesome !!!!

  • how long can you keep the ladoo

  • for almost a month

  • Thank you so much, Mrs. Jain. I have never tasted these before, so I'm looking forward to making them. It looks like an easy recipe IF the directions are followed exactly. Healthful, too. All of your dishes build health.

    I'm so glad I "discovered" you. You're a marvel.

  • Thankyou Manjula for posting this..I will make this with confidence now that you have

shown how to make it......yum :)

  • When you stir in the sugar, does it disolve? I've tried making ladoos before, but I dont like the crunchy texture from the sugar not disolving.

  • you have to mix the sugar while basen is still warm but not hot. you should not feel the sugar crunch.

  • gram flour = chickpea?

  • No thats a different thing. Gramflour is also known as Besan in Hindi

  • hey munjula aunty, i just wanted to kno if this recipie is the same for besan di berfi

  • almost the same for burfee you need to make the sugar syrup 1 thread. when you syrup and basen mix basen should be at room tep. and syrup should be hot.

  • r u going to make besan di barfi, if u could make a video on that, then that would be so wonder ful, thankyou for replying my comment

  • thank you very much :)

  • Do you use green or black cardomon? Thanks.

  • I use green cardomon

  • Thank you.

  • Thank you, Auntie!

  • Thanks these are my favorite.

  • I really appreciate learning the Hindu? words for the ingredients you use in your recipes.

Squeezing and then patting the mixture is a great technique for creating symmetrical "balls".

  • Fantastic recipe, thanks!

  • This looks delicious! I wonder if it is possible to experiment with different flavorings, such as lemon, etc. I will try your recipe very soon.
