@purplekid777 Kira is what the public decided to call the person who was killing people with heart attacks. It is the English word "Killer" with a japanese accent. It is in one of the first episodes of the show.

i just notice that its kind of a stupid way to kill people by writing their name and having a image of the person in there mind like let say that my birth name is John and i prefer to be called Johnny and so does everybody so how would Kira kill me would he kill me with my birth name or with my nickname witch i prefer and so does everybody else

And what happens if you legally change your name? Does that mean that you have to write down the new name? Or your name given to you by birth? People who have different symbols... do you write them down in your language? Theirs? There are so many things that you could question.

In the rules it says that, with the shinigami eyes, the name they see is the one that is needed to kill that certain person. Be it symbols, other languages or whatever. The name that is seen, is the one that'll work.

If they don't have the eyes there's no way in definitely knowing, but i'm guessing a person's legal name would work, even if they changed it. They can try the person's old and new name and one of them should work.

i'm pretty sure that they keep on trying till it works because when Raito kills Lind L. Tailor, i'm pretty sure he rights down multiple spellings or maybe it was a different person. not sure which version it was in anime or manga....

And a shinigami wouldn't care to notice because they can just read the name. I'm guessing it's a persons legal name? I don't think it's nicknames though, or Light could have killed L easily with any of his aliases.

My friend. Welcome to anime loop holes, you try and come up with something similar to this without people finding a few loopholes in the planning.

Kira only killed criminals. Thus he didn't kill innocent people say yourself, SmokeyThePolarBears and all others who were not convicted in a court of law. So when you are sent to prison and your name is entered into the police data base as a felon. That is when you will be killed. Thus why he didn't need names of innocent people.

You write names in any language, for Light has English and Japanese in the DN when you look at it and those are the only ways the Japanese media spells names in the series.

Writing the name=''name+surname'' and having the persons face in your mind when writing the name, you have totally specified who you want to kill.I guess Tsugumi Ohba concentrated only to the important things and gave you the chance to give the stupid answers.Come on, you can do it !
