  • THIS was when the Simpsons had soul...

Who else remembers this moment so clearly, Lisa playing her sax to honor her deceased hero, and it was almost like the strains of the saxophone was the song of Bleeding Gums's--and every relative any one of US has ever lost--soul coming alive again...

It was funny, yes, but it was also GENUINE...

And it's that which we need more of today, in our music and politics and lives...

However you vote, whatever you listen to--listen & live with style and soul.

  • childhood..... :')

  • Proud to play the sax :D

Even if Lisa plays the baritone and I play alto

  • As a fellow saxophone player, this gives me chills. Old Simpsons was amazing, there is/was nothing like it!

  • ANTENA 3, SPAIN!

  • It's pretty sad that the simpsons hasn't been consistently funny for more than a decade and yet it still keeps going. It's like a horse with a broken leg. It needs to be put out of its misery.

  • R.I.P Bleeding Gums Murphey, we all love you!

  • :Dlove it

  • I been looking everywhere for the part where homer says to lisa do you remember when your cat snowball died well we will go down to the pound and get you a new jazz man.

I cant find it on youtube its the best line in this whole episode

  • The way she sings "TESTIFY" gives me chills everytime.

    Great Simpsons moment.

  • /This is how Simpsons lives in my heart.

  • Ya for me heart and comedy were the staples of The Simpsons in the earlier years. Take both of those out and you have an unrecognizable shell of a show which should've been put down a decade ago. It also seems like they try to copy the Family Guy style of humor way too much, and Family Guy hasn't been funny in a decade either.

  • me encanta

  • Sorry :))

  • Lisa rocks. :(

  • I love this. LIsa has always been my favorite character on the show

  • Bleeding Gums Murphy reminds me of Clarence Clemons.

  • Probably one of my most favourite Simpsons moments ever. :)

I agree that the new episodes aren't what they used to be, but there are still a lot of good episodes being made, for example the "Angry Dad: The Movie" episode, which is my most favourite episode

  • I hated Lisa Episodes back in the days. But now that you look at it the 90's simpsons had so much depth in character developments and classic plots. Now its all about getting a new celebrity in each week. 0__O

  • The problem with the new episodes isn't because it isn't funny anymore (it still is), it's because the heart that made the old episodes wonderful was gone, and it became a soulless, idiotic cartoon, like South Park, Beavis and Butt-Head, Family Guy, etc.

  • @shawnmalki to be honest I think it's the complete reverse. I laugh at all the dumb cartoons you listed even though they're soulless because they have consistently funny jokes. Sure I'm mad at the current writers of the Simpsons for ruining my favourite characters, but the real problem is that the jokes just aren't very funny any more.

  • @SpanielDayLewis nothing any of those other guys have done will ever amount to the greatness of The Simpsons. South Park was great, it was simple and crude, now all they do is target world events, celebrities and make absurd plot lines, I mean that whole Canadian royal wedding episode was like WTF and so random, it was not funny at all. Family Guy is just one senseless joke after another, sometimes it is funny but nothing like Simpsons. Beavis and Butthead is great cuz its SUPPOSED to be idiotic

  • @shawnmalki You think South Park is soulless? Go watch their last episode of season 15, "The Poor Kid." Now do you think it has no soul? If you still do, I don't know how. But I do agree about the other two, Beavis & Butthead & Family Guy both are idiotic.

  • @MiaTheInvader Yeah. I saw that episode. It had some big chicken eating Kenny. What's the heart in that? At least I was moved by Butt-Head dying in that crying episode.

  • @shawnmalki You missed the WHOLE part. Didn't you see how much he cared for his sister? & dude, they like to joke around a lot, too. But they put soul in their show, you just have to really pay attention to see it.

  • @shawnmalki there was some heart in beavis and butthead, although the creator came into his own with daria

  • @drivermini thx

  • Lisa has a beautiful voice

  • better than a lot of today's crap

  • thumbs up lisa + bleeding gums!

  • i watched this episode today

  • i was so shocked when he actually died...

"There's no way they'll kill off a character, everything always just goes back to normal at the end of the epi- *frowns* WHAT!"

  • My nostalgia meter just exploded.

  • L: Why do they call you bleeding gums murphy?

BGM: Let me put it this way, have you ever been to the dentist?

    L: Yea

    BGM: Well i havent

  • @stichguy "I suppose I should go to one sometime, but I've got enough pain in my life as it is." :D Oh, classic, classic :)

  • Saxomaphone. nuff said.

  • Cried when he Died..still crying

  • One of the best episodes

  • Comment removed

  • @xIceychillx "round springfield" i think its season 6 or something like that

  • this why i wanted to learn the alto when i was little, cause i wanted to be able to play like Lisa Simpson when i grew up. (:

  • is jazz man supposed to be clarence clemons

  • This is why I learned the saxaphone.

  • @Houroudi you should probably learn how to spell too.

  • @SasaxLoveable sorry faggot, SAXOPHONE. it's the thought that counts..

  • @Houroudi marry me

  • @Houroudi This is why im going to.

  • @Houroudi this is why I signed up for it in school!

  • i like the saxophone in this version too bad its not a full song...

  • Yeardley Smith's rarely tapped talent for song!

  • @diddymuck I'd love to meet her!

  • When the Jazzman's testifying, a fateless man disease, he will sing you

into paradise or bring you to your knees.

Jazzman, take my blues away. Make my pain the same as yours with every

    change you play.

    Jazzman

    Oh Jazzman

  • @Kaynas1988 Pretty sure it's 'a fateless man believes'.

  • @TezzX That's the Carol King version, but you could be right

  • @Kaynas1988 Yea I'm pretty sure that it is 'believes', they were just doing a rendition of a song they both love and 'disease' though makes sense in the situation, doesn't make sense in the lyrics.

  • @TezzX I can see what u mean it doesn't make sense in the song, i think they should have just kept it at believes, it's easier to remember

  • @TezzX It's a fateless man disease coz Lisa sings it about a friend of hers (Bleeding Gums Murphy) who was battling a disease until he passes away :-(

  • This song makes me weep with Happyness =.)..

  • That episode made me cum, actually.

  • simpsons.to

  • Fantastic song!!

  • would have been so nice had they squeezed this into the Simpsons movie!

An audience with an reaction, applause and ovation!

  • It would be so awesome if there is a version of the full song =o

  • @DevelPirat look for "Jazzman by Carole King" ;) but i like lisas voice for this a bit more. it is more monotone than Carol's which works great in this song.

  • @TheKuehlschrank

I know that "Jazzman" is from Carola King and I also like this version with lisas voice more than the original and because of this i think it would be awesome if there would be the whole song with the voice of lisa :D

I think it wasn't so clearly what I mean because of my not so good english skills ^^

  • Does anyone know the instrumental piece from 'Sax on the Beach' that plays on the radio? You know, the part where the patients in the hospital start dancing and Chief Wiggum gets poisonous-gassed in his car.

  • i don't even like Jazz but this song is so goddamn catchy. i like it.

  • Blood & Guts Murphy :)

  • This song is on the Simpsons CD along with a bunch of other awesome Simpson songs.

  • like Bleeding Gums Murphy and like jazz

  • Simpsons used to be funny..they have been going for so long storylines all seem the same these days, Futurama still kicks ass though.

  • this is even better than the original!

    i love lisa <3

we have some much in common, lol.

  • wow cool, HD!

  • I love this song! It's so fucking great.

  • سيمبسون افضل مسلسل كرتوني ممكن الواحد يشاهده طول حياتو..

  • Lisa sings a lot like Joanna Newsome ;D

  • That's awesome! These Saxlines are great. I'm new in Jazz, what genre of Jazz is this?

  • @tonyiommi87 Hi man! That song is pretty similar in style to some of the tunes from the Band "Crusaders" and the late great saxophonist Grover Washington Jr... Check 'em out!!

  • @bassbymichele Thanks a lot man for pointing Grover... I've always loved Jazz,,

but I live in a country where Jazz is never being heard of, so no one could point

me to a great saxophonist... Thanks from my heart...

  • @tonyiommi87 I think this is more a Pop song instead or jazz. However those excellent licks in alto and baritone sax give the song the jazzy flavor...

  • what season is this?

  • I like this version from jazzman more then the oginal one :P

  • Thumbs up if you miss Bleeding Gums Murphy!

  • @eoghansinnott yes i found that out shortly after i said that lol but i still like Lisa's version better XD
