First time I've heard this. Yes quite funny. I felt though, although expertly executed, the formula of the song had been used on numerous occasions in earlier ventures. He became a 'lampooning' specialist that's for sure.
@petermcintyre100 Absolutely agree. He seemed to have a formula. Apostrophe (')" was my first Zappa experience.Humor, intellect and jam...all in one.I'll admit that I was one of those who wanted more of "Shut Up 'n Play Yer' Guitar".But I acquired the patience to listen more closely.Oh, man...The dude could just plain ass jam when he settled in.
@ziggerzag101 Yeah, i listened to a track called Bobby Brown!! Amazingly crude and funny! Didn't realise anyone was as full on lyrically back then. I'll stick with it.
@RollingPeople97 I wanted to do a full orchestral and choral version of that, and Why Does It Hurt When I Pee?, complete with the London SYmphony and Mormon Tabernacle Choir... But somehow, I didn't think the Choir would do "secular" songs like those... :)
@RollingPeople97 Try the album Overnite Sensation; in particular the tracks 50/50, Zombie Woof, I am the Slime, and Montana. Don't let your "first foray mito Mr Zappa put you off. I'm a fan but even I am not too keen on what was your first experience but I guaruntee you will like some of the tracks I have mentioned. Apostrophe is another good album.
@RollingPeople97 if you're a musician, you have the ability to enjoy it. Zappa's yellow shark album was top of the classical charts. He always had the BEST talent on stage with him, no matter if it was titties or political commentary, zappa was bang on in everything he did.
hey i'm just glad my son didn't win the weekend with his highness at neverboingboing land. some pepsi or mcdonald's promo in So. cal. the early 90's. on the other hand, i could have sued the freak for a lotta dough. i'm sure he'd have paid fer the therapy too. . takin' it a step further than even zappa would go.gotta gimme some cred 4 that.. here i'll say it for ya. Never heard this one before and although I don't particularly love the music, I believe it's the best piece I ever heard taking the piss out of Michael Jackson. LMFAO Zappa had a knack like no one else for cutting through the crap and hitting the nail on the head.
@13KittyKatLolLove13 The comment you made " MJ fans can kill!!! i'll track you down" is something i'd expect from someone who is a Micheal (i molest children) Jackson fan.
I think he´s pointing out that Jermaine hasn´t had all that cosmetic surgery to hide his heritage.
Zappa it seems to me wanted black people to be proud of who they are and not try to alter who they are.
Of course there shouldn´t be a stereotype of what a black person is or how they should behave also, but what I think Zappa is doing is here is commenting on is when black people feel the need to go out of their way to change, but yes it's a vicious satire.
@PandaJungle The children's toy "Mr. Potato Head" enabled children to change his facial features by putting noses eyes ears etc on the plastic potato. He's taking the piss out of Jacko due to Jacko's penchant for adjusting his face. And let's face it (excuse the pun) but M J looked better with what he was born with than when he fucked about with his features.
Great song. it takes me back. I called the Barking Pumpkin hotline, and I SWEAR Frank answered. It was him, dammit, for real. I asked him about the Joes Garage artwork and its meaning. He said it means what you what it to mean.

I want to play this to every single Jacko fan and then spit in their face. It really fucks me off people saying Michael was a great father blah blah - HE WASN'T THEIR FREAKING FATHER. They are completely white. check out Tornado Coleman he has a song about Jacko on myspace
michael jackson was castrated at 11 yrs old. They used to do that to the choir boys in the renaissence period to keep their singing voices as sopranos.
fadethetrade - Whoa! I never thought of that! You're right of course. They did castrate boys so they would keep their beautiful high voices in adulthood. Such a singer was called a castrato. I'm serious. There's actually some old 78 rpm records of old castrati singers performing. That's how recent it was!
I wouldn't put it past that devil Joe Jackson to have had that done to Michael.
@yowzephyr Thats not true you still the joy of Eminem and Vanilla ice and Lady Gaga! Fun-Fun! Yes I'm being sarcastic I'll stop now because the truth is depressing me.
The song is Frank's "Tell Me You Love Me" 1rst done in 1970 on the album "Chunga's Revenge", then again on the 1980 album "Tinseltown Rebellion" (best version).
