A wonderful family named the Gattys gave me a framed Prayer of St. Francis for my 8th grade confirmation. It's one of the few things I brought with me from my childhood. It's hanging on my wall right now, right beside me.

I don't like the catholic church, but I do love St. Francis of Assisi.

A quite interesting theory on prayers. Why do some people receive what they want and others dont? Think of it like this- you cant drink from an empty glass. What one receives after praying is considered to be a "borrowed" energy. One has to continue to do good deeds in order to borrow that energy and receive what he's asking for. It's like a bank account- you simply cant withdraw from an empty account. Same concept when praying...

This made me cry. I've never heard of this prayer. My grandmother died this summer at age 95, and the priest actually compared her to St Francis.

She spread light and hope around her, and she was loved by everybody, including animals. She could talk to cats and dogs and tame wild birds to eat from hear hands.

I'm such a lucky person who had her as granny. Rest in peace, you angel of light.

If you want to know the source of the religion go the the primary text it takes it's doctrines from. In Christianity's case - the bible. Go to the actual religion to know more about it. The leaders, the faithful - not to the critics. And that includes the people trying to change and 'revolutionize' it's original message aka. the TRUTH.

I personally belong to the Catholic Church, as we believe it to the true Church. However, God has granted us free will. If you truly seek God pray to him to show you which religion he wants you to adopt. Do your research first and pray to God about it.

I read the Quoran, and it is a very inspiring book, there is no hate in the book at all. The was started long time ago, your different islamic groups are the ones that started the war in arabic contries, besides being so hatefull, i begg you to read again the Quoran, and you will find peace of mind, and eternal love. Dearest mamache1, If Islam wants to be admired as much as other religions, they have to be considerate, fair (put themselves in peoples shoes) loving (be willing to spread goodwill instead of hate and using VIOLENT! tactics.)

In my opinion Islam has a long way to go before it will be classed as a religion of peace.
