"We" aren't. These people are being paid by members of the CERN group. Althought i get your point about Billions of dollars being spent on what seems to be just particals colliding. I also think if "we" spend money on helping people eat it should be in the form of teaching others a way to get food for them selves.
HAHAHA Idiot. how about you spend the £4.4 Billion pounds on helping the billions of PEOPLE starving and dying in the world. get your priorities right!!!!!!!
science and human advancement is a huge priority? is it bigger than letting humans live? there are billions of people dying all over the world from illnesses and hunger that can be solved but instead they build a generator trying to prove there isnt a god?
Ever heard of medicine? That's an investment in science. How is this related? Think about it, learning physics is very important. It has to do with all the inventions I'm heavily assuming you take for granted. Cars, airplanes, trains, etc. The machine isn't to prove there isn't God. That isn't the point of science.
yeah i agree with you that physics is very important, but this experiment in itself has absolutely no positive effect for people, except for some knowledge which they might not even find, if it was an experiment trying to find cures for illnesses then fine, spend as much money as they need, but so far this experiment is stupid, and needed to be shut down, think of what 4.4billion pounds could do if in the right hands.
Of course it has positive effects. Google it. And believe me, 4billion euros aint shit compared to the trillions spent on other crap. The very ambition of humanity is the driving force of this experiment and I'm all for it. Bottom line is, this experiment has a positive effects and they will trickle down. 4billion euros to starvin' folks? Of course, that's being done and I agree that not enough. But like it or not, this exp continues.
The "grid" computer system used at CERN is currently being used to test malaria cures. I know this because I asked. Also, the internet was invented there during experiments with an earlier particle accelerator.
@jthomson1 People who are too stupid to live off the land as millions others had before technology existed deserve to die. It's their own faults they pop kids out of their cunts for a paycheque, and its peoples faults that they end up on the street because lack of brain power.

I'm no expert but from what i understand the black holes that will be created will be too small to cause any destruction.

Not much it would end up amounting to nothing, and money doesn't fix everything you have to have the resources to do it as well.
