That ''14,000'' micro-roentgen is a lie. There is less then 200 mc/R at this exact spot and there is around 700 mc/R an hour at about 200/300 meters from the reactor 4. This bridgh is at, probably, 1 km from the sarcophagus.

They definitely are a bit more radioactive than fish from other places, but AFAIK people living in Exclusion Zone are catching them and eating. Some people living there are over 80 years old and are still in good health, there aren't mutants (bloodsuckers and stuff). Even radiation isn't very high - in most places it's level is not higher than for example in Warsaw, London or New York. But yes, there are some dangerous places. Better to have GM counter.
