  • it's cheaper if you're vegan.

  • @mhouse1712 International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition compared organic vs conventional diets in animals. Weight gain was greater in organically fed rats, mortality was lower at 9 weeks, incidence of degenerative diseases was lower. Lower mortality in organically fed rabbits. 2nd and 3rd generation rabbits from organically fed parents had higher birth rates and more viable embryos.Infectious illnesses were less frequent in 2nd generation organically fed animals.

  • The ignorance of the comments here are laughable. For those who mock organic foods, continue to eat your fatty foods, Mc Donalds and whatever gives you cancer and makes you sick.

I will go the other way.

  • However the chickens are treated and whatever they eat, it does not affect the egg in any way.

  • @snowangel223 ok?

  • @needlearmor Let me better clarify as I quote from a research paper I wrote a while back. "organic eggs in Canada are selling for almost double the price, although there is no nutritional difference between the organic and conventional egg and there is no proof that the small amount of pesticides in chicken feed make it to the eggs. Even the package labels say that there are no antibiotics or medications in the organic eggs, which persuade consumers to purchase the organic option.

  • @needlearmor However, the Canadian food inspection agency says that no eggs are allowed to have antibiotics or medications (CBC News). A similar test was conducted in the US in 2010, which show the same results. Not only was there barely any difference between the eggs, but the small difference was that the organic eggs were environmentally contaminated.

  • @needlearmor “Research in both the US and the EU has shown that free-range chickens have higher levels of PCBs, simply because they get out more and can peck almost anywhere.” (Klugar)

  • . but what about the organic grown on peru and brought by planes and bunch of trucks to new york so you can buy them at costco at five time the price?

  • I switched my family's food selection to 80% organic about 2 years ago and will never go back. We are getting sick much less often, cold n flu does are easily dealt with these days.

I am certain that not all organic foods have more vitamins or are much more healthy than mass produced ones but at the very least it still promotes more sustainable farming practices so I always buy organic if possible.

  • @Nebbyker very sensible!!!!!

    Keep it up.

  • @crackring209 correct ! Only certified and inspected food is really organic.

Better to buy it directly from a certified organic farmer to be sure.

  • @drylander3024114 i agree i support organic farmers very much

  • Why does anyone listen to these idiots? There is no evidence that shows that a person who eat food marked "organic" is any more healthy than a person that does not. "Organic" is just a euphemism for "more expensive".

  • @mhouse1712 Do you know how soil works? And how micro-organisms convert matter into nutrients?

  • useful organics for me on the weekly grocery shopping trip.. bananas, apples, potatoes, sweet potatoes, spinach, brocoli, romaine lettuce, Publix green wise beef and Publix green wise poultry. They taste better, and its easier to eat them everyday this way.

  • @gingowitch that made my day :D

  • I agree with the BEAUTIFULY I HAVE A CRUSH ON Dr. Fritz (gosh im horrible). I love to eat as much healthy foods as possible and from just eating healthy, excersising every day, i've lost 103 pounds in 9 months. I would like to see more people try to take better care of themselves, even if they just change one bad food item for a good one that day. But overall if you are happy with yourself and way you look, i'm all for that xd

  • Meat eggs and dairy might be slightly better for you, but other than that, I don't think organic foods are that much different, at least healthwise. Also, I think there's a difference between organic and sustainable. You can still practice bad farming techniques and still be organic these days

  • @takadi not certified organic. There are rules to follow

  • cage free can mean they're all kept in a huge place with no windows or space

  • interesting, always thought produce was most important for organic, good tips.

  • @Peripatetic45 Quick, were her shoes untied? lol

  • Thank you for the great insight and advice for dairy products.

  • Good info. I am vegan, so I can concentrate mainly on organic produce. Thanks for posting!

  • @Justwosweet How many are dying NOW from diseases caused by compromised overloaded immune systems due to a excess of pollutants in our food, water and air??

  • @abraxnos So we cut down all the forests and use all available land for organic farming and shoot a third of the world population since their won't be enough food for them. We need to double food production to keep up with population growth and you think people should use a system that produces half as much food. We need genetically modified giant food that grows super quick if we all aren't going to starve. While the luxury exists enjoy your organic food. Keep a personal garden.

  • You should do as I do. I live in a one room apartment, I feed my cow in the balcony, grow chickens in the kitchen and keep salmon in the bathtub. I also have an organic garden next to my bed :)

  • thanks for the heads up Dr . esp the part about the peeled fruit ,would not have thought about it like that but makes sense.

  • pesticides generally don't decrease the nutritional content of food, that's true, but pesticides in excess can cause problems, upsetting the hormone balance in your body which can lead to all kinds of problems. also, I think we tend to forget that we don't know all there is to know about food and about the human body. soil that is fertilized naturally will have more variety of nutrients, and it's probably better for you even if science doesn't currently show it

  • @burn625 Agreed that when not eating organically the body is taking in all those chemicals used to change the way animals and food grows. By eating these things we put the chemicals in our own bodies which causes changes also. Everyone will be different but avoiding the intake of unknown chemicals will be better for your health.

I find organic food tastes better but it is hard to maintain so i found this video very informative in helping me choose what foods i should worry about most.

  • People think that organic food is equivalent to nasty health food that is soy-based or nasty diet food. So not true! It's just pure, amazing food. Not processed and full of chemicals and stripped of its nutrients. It's just like people thinking that Atheism and Satanism are synonyms or the same thing. Why are people so fucking stupid?

  • I came here cause I read orgasmic food

  • Pesticides dont decrease the nutritional or caloric content of food. This is just left wing anti capitalist propaganda. Go to the mayo clinics website and see for yourself.

  • @bryan7422 Pesticide is poison which is essentially bad for you, but you're right Bryan in that it doesn't reduce the nutritional or caloric value. Pesticide can, according to particular foods, be absorbed into them (such as potatoes), in such a case one would be essentially eating poison. In some cases in which the pesticide remains on the outside of the food (like grapes or apples) one can use soap and wash the chemicals off or peal the skin.

  • What's funny is that all the people who tell me that Organic isn't any different are always getting sick. I see on their facebook "sick" etc or people at work out sick. Next time i see them they have a fast food bag or some starbucks.

Amazing I used to be just like that. Eating fried chicken and fast breakfast food all the time and hardly drinking any water. I gave all that up after listening to David Wolfe and I haven't been sick once since '04. Have not taken one sick day off of work or doc

  • What about the soil..the pesticides go into the soil

  • Thanks a lot. I only eat organic and I hope american's understand the difference and how important organic food is for the body and the system.

  • Do I need to buy organic eggs if I only eat the egg whites?

  • @guanming I was wondering the same thing! she said that pesticides were fat soluble and thus, theoretically, only consuming the egg whites would be safer?! can some qualified please answer this question!? thanks!

  • may i refer you to john stossel's recent show about organic food?

  • how do they regulate organic? I mean in the USA they use a growth hormone in their cattle that has been linked back to birth defects and cancer in people.

  • Cooking a non organic potato will take almost twice as long to cook as an organic potato.

  • NOT ONLY IS MOST OF OUR FOODS GROWN WITH CHEMICALS LIKE PESTICIDES, MOST OF OUR FOOD TODAY IS GMO FOOD. MONSANTO SUCKS ASS

  • meh, by that rational pesticides dont soak in ... hmm

  • YOU KNOW WHAT SUCKS? Organic does not automatically mean not genetically modified. So something can be organic and still be GMO! Damn we've messed up the system so much that the real, real food not GMO, organic, and healthy are hard to find with those three things! Drives me crazy! I don't know what the hell to eat anymore!

  • @tqvivaperu That's why I grow my own

  • @tqvivaperu that's not exactly correct, most "organic" food that is GMO isn't really organic at all, The governement has been caught in the past of labelling non-organic food as organic

  • Excellent

  • yeah...i still notice how organic bananas taste better then reg bananas. but im ok with eating conventional bananas. im saying i like to buy everything i can organic :)

  • banana and advocado are realy much better organic since there fruits

  • yes! we should stop to call organic food "organic" and yes, we should call the food not normal, "legally poisoned".

    thanks!

  • Thumbs up, it's hard to find pasture fed meat in stores. I found that it's cheaper to buy meat in bulk online at grasslandbeef d ot c om. I'm on a budget so I stick to ground beef. Organic produce also contains 20 to 40% more nutrients than pesticide produce. Some pesticides are known to cause obesity.

  • I love burgers.

  • Thanks for the good information.
