  • it's really like stargunner for pc

  • She's saying " let's go CGR"

  • Thunder Force 2 on the Sharp X68000 is a really good version of this game as it's graphically better but I find myself playing it on the Sharp and on the Genesis equally. The same thing with Sol-Feace for the X68000 and the Sega CD. The graphics on that game is superior on the Sharp but the Sega CD version has better music and sound effects in my opinion.

  • best sound effects in video game history

  • Classic Game Room HD - in 360p!

  • I bought this yesterday for 12 pounds boxed with manual in awesome nick for about £12.00. BARGAIN!

  • @Edd731 bought for $4.95 at a gametraders

  • @aglewi41 Fecking bargain! :D

  • Do a Thunder Force IV review!

  • @volvo145 He did.

  • @MinaseTakix Ok ill have to look for it, havent found it.

  • @volvo145 its called Lightening Force its in the Sega Genesis CGR playlist #54

  • It's a black sheep of the series but better than people give it credit for.

  • "ENGINEER GOOD EVENIN'. ROJER. GOOD LUCK!"

  • Looks like a shit version of herzog zwei.

  • @steve5123456789

They made that game also !

  • How the FUCK do I beat the first level!?!?!?!?

  • @MrSaturn33 - Yes , it´s hard as hell , Does have any means to beat this up ?

  • @Soulmindseeker It's not the difficulty. It's just that you can move in any direction. So how am I supposed to know where to go? Any direction loops endlessly, it's horrible...If the goal is to kill a certain amount of enemies, or something, it doesn't tell me. I could play it for years and never get anywhere.

  • @MrSaturn33 - that´s rigth , very confusing , Imagine the first version , that was release only in arcades , I guess that isn´t possible finish that version .

  • @MrSaturn33 Just look at my full run of the game. I had it as a kid. I think the manual showed you what you are actually supposed to do on the top level screens. But if you don't have it you have to fund bases and destroy them. There is 4 on every top level except for the last stage.

  • i like the fact this game feels much more like a free roaming shooter. they need to make more games like this now

  • this is a poor man's Thunder Force 3, literally. This game is like $5, while 3 is usually over $20.

  • I THENK ITS SEYING LAZER SISTEM ON

  • I'm just finishing this ghame up right now. Loved Thunder Force 2 as a kid; and now I can finally beat it :)

  • And i finished it when i was young.. but it's really hard.. harder than TF3 and 4. But a great game anyway..

  • I just love the voices of this Thunder Force!!! Best of all series

  • Pretty sure its german, mixed with a couple of english words here and there. Techno Soft is a japanese company though, so its seems abit weird that they choose german as speech in the game. but maybe they had some developers from germany in their company.

  • @kapteinsnute or they wanted to make a game that not muchto do with the janapese...they invented mario after all and mario is italian. many games are made in one area, but feature many things, including language from other areas

  • Engrish has never sounded so good...

  • What is it saying when you start the game? Enemy to Detect Nardar Good Luck?

  • Something else I'd like to mention - since this too was among the first Genesis games I got, it holds many dear memories for me. As such, here's what I heard as a kid for each weapon. Five Wave - Five Way Destroy - Des Court Wide Shot - Wide & South Hunter - Hunter Clash - Clash Laser - Laser Wave Shot - Wave & Tech Side Blaster - Side a Blaster Nova - Nova Mega Flash - Mega Slash Claw - Low Roll - LOW!!! Breaker System On! - This won't last long!
  • @SatoshiMatrix1 I been wondering for years what that lady was saying , thanks guy , now i gotta work on who killed kennedy

  • Thunder Force II is my favorite Thunder Force game. The top down missions are what separates it from the many shumps that are mostly forgettable, including sadly other Thunder Force games.

As a side note, I do believe the shield is "Breaker System On". According to the original manual, the shield is named a "Breaker".

  • when i got sega for christmas this was one of the games i got with it. the whole family loved this particular game.

  • I thinlk it says

    "Barrier Protective ON"

  • Comment removed

  • sounds like she is saying something un Dutch.

  • aaaahhh hahahahaha.....that's funny cuz i couldn't recognize half of what that lady says when you got half the powerups on this game.....but i'm completely sure she says "Blink-all systems on...." she's got a japanese accent, which really throws you for a loop.....dayamn....i can't believe there's someone who is reviewing all the games i used to play in my childhood.

  • lol Hitchman84's answer, 'lets all get along'

tho i think it says, 'Laser Breaker On'

  • "_________ system on!"

best i can do to decode what she says at sheild

  • I found TF2's side-scroll stages to be much more 3D than TF3 because of the parallax that moves in all directions, instead of just left/right, even if the they aren't drawn as well. The effect was more impressive. I wish the had kept this, but they had to throw it away to allow multiple layers of parallax within the background layer.

  • I always thought it said "Breaker System On", but I could totally be wrong.

TF2 is one of the best shooters ever made -- and I'm talking about the side scrolling levels. The later versions in the series couldn't match what TF2 had with its parallax screens, which moved up and down, unlike the original.

This game rocks. What an arcade experience!!!!

  • Yes. "Breaker System On" is spot on. Odd name for a shielding system, but hey, this is Thunder Force, home of the Craw.

  • 2:08 "Lets all get along(?)"

  • Alot of the Technosoft team that worked on Thunder Force II worked on Herzog Zwei.

  • This was a really weird game.

  • FOr the shild, she says " This won't be for long" As a fact the shilds only Tempareriy.. i to Grew up on this game!

  • this was the first game I got for my genesis

  • If you haven't already, check out the Sharp X68000 version of Thunder Force II, it's much better than the Megadrive-Genesis version.

For those who don't know, X68000 was an extremely high-end 16-bit computer in Japan, kind of the Japanese equivalent of Amiga, but even more powerful.

Thunder Force II was first created for the X68000 in 1988, and only then ported, in downgraded form, to the MD/Genesis in 1989.

  • Thunder Force II on X68000 has over the Sega console version:

*significantly better graphics: more colors, additional layers of parallax scrolling

    *clearer audio

*two levels not found in the Sega version

*weapons not in the Sega version

    *higher difficulty

*a map for the overhead / top-view levels when you pause the game

  • MAKE OUT WITH YOUR MOM, is what she is saying

  • This is a quality game.

  • when you pick up the "sheild" it says:

    BREAKER SYSTEM ON

    the intro says:

THIS IS EXCELIZA. ROGER, GOOD LUCK.

i remember the unplugging the cartridge trick, while the genesis is on, and plugging it back in, to enable an even harder difficutly mode, one we always played in. i have never seen this documented on the internet. a very rare trick. the game was incredible in this mode.

  • I thought the intro said "IF YOU THINK YOU NEED IT, LOT OF GOOD LUCK" This was my first genesis game back in88-89 when the genesis first dropped. the soundtrack is still sick. . . sounds like some old school Brad Fiedel Terminator type shit!

  • 89 i think. the soundtrack kicked ass. i even have mp3s of it recorded directly from the genesis. it was the first game i blasted through a stereo system for full effect!!

  • I just downloaded the sharp x68000 version of this game. Its twice as hard as the genesis version, & thats on the easy level. Its also packed full of stages Ive never seen before

  • how are you playing it?

  • Ever heard of Roms and Emulators? google it, you can play almost any game on the PC (the majority of them were on cartridges - aka NES, SEGA, N64, SNES, and so on)

  • yes i know this... lol. thanks though!!

  • oh ok, wasnt sure, lol

  • If you think the games soundtrack was awesome, you should hear the remixed orchestral versions done by Technosoft on their game CDs.

  • where could i get that? i'd buy it in a moment.

  • Good question, they are probably out of print by now. You could try to find them on Ebay or on a torrent. The albums are called "Technosoft Game Music Collection" and has up to 15 Volumes I believe.

  • thank you

  • You are welome. BTW, if you didn't find out already I believe Volumes 1-3 are specifically Thunder Force II and Herzog Zwei musics.

  • I bought TF II (game, manual and box) from Ebay for six bucks including shipping. It's not hard to find, it came out the first year the Genesis was available (1989)

  • I always thought that the intro said:

"I'D GIVE ANYTHING TO EAT IT, LADDER, GOOD LUCK"

And I never knew if that was a skull or a garbage can over there.

  • I really love that first stage music...

  • looks fun

  • i have the more common thunder force IV and so wanted Thunder force II but had a "Blonde" moment and bought "Galaxy" force II by mistake!! duh! lol

  • Had it been the arcade version I'd have congratulated you, but I'm sorry to hear that man!

  • cool

  • this game reminds me of r-type or life force so this game rocks

  • I am pretty sure its "Breaker System, On." when you get the shield.

  • That was what I said a long time ago because I think that was what it said in the manual.

  • Sounds about right, I couldn't really make it out till you said that.

  • I always thought she was saying "make out with your mom".

Also, you should try the X68000 version. Better graphics, two levels missing from this version, but much harder (too hard I think.)

  • she is saying protection system on or weapon system on i cant tell

  • Sounds like it is saying "weapons system on". I got this game plus tommy lasorda baseball and super hang on when I bought my genesis. Seeing this brought back a lot of memories.

  • Thunder Force was one of my favorite games...Where was Thunder Force 1???????????????

  • nowhere. it will never be....ok, i dont know! shut up! lol

  • Maybe you had Thunder Force 1 and didn't share it....

  • Wikipedia: Thunder Force (1) is a scrolling shooter computer game released by Technosoft in 1983. It is the first game in the Thunder Force series. It was initially released for the Sharp X1 computer, and later appeared on the Sharp MZ-1500, NEC PC-6001 mkII, and in 1985 on the NEC PC-8801 mkII. In 1984, it was released for the FM-7, and NEC PC-9801 computers as Thunder Force Construction, featuring an add-on that allowed players to create custom made areas.

  • lol 0:28 "wide wave, why u suck?"

    LOL

  • Yeah, what the hell is the guy saying at the start? Ive been wondering for years.

  • I know most of what he's saying, but if someone can fill in the blank, I'd appreciate it. So anyways, this is what the guy says at the start(from what I understand):

"This is Exceliza, *something*, good luck!"

Exceliza is the name of Thunder Force II's ship.

  • Roger good luck....

  • Thank you. That voice clip has been bothering me since the day I got Thunder Force II.

  • many genesis games share sound effects and sometimes even music. even from different developers.

  • OMFG!!! I have been looking for this game for the longest but I could never remember the title. Thank you a thousand times over!!!

  • I cnat get past the tank boss as yet!!

  • I sat for an hour trying to figure out wtf they are saying and it has nothing to do with breakers. All I understand is good luck, everything else sounds like french.

  • japanese game= japenese speach with english thrown in at the end

  • I think the sheild was called breaker.

So I am assuming she was saying breaker system on.

  • Great game. This was one of the first Mega Drive (Genesis) games that I ever played - brings back great memories. Thanks for sharing :)

  • one of the best reviewers on youtube

  • wrong the best

  • Review another game by technosoft called Technocop. SOOO HARD! Very very disturbing for its time.

  • My first game as well. I had some great times with this game!

  • Tomomi Ootani composed the music and Toshiharu Yamanishi did the SFX.

In 2001, TecnoSoft closed their doors for good. That makes me sad. If they were still around today, they should develop the Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Toon Disney, Disney Channel, Kids WB, YTV, and Teletoon cartoon videogames. Trust me. If TecnoSoft makes cartoon videogames, I know that they will take time in the game's development, instead of rushing to get the game finished like the half-assed American game developers.

  • I also love the weapon pickups too when the ship's computer tells you what weapon it is.

  • She's saying "Breaker System On."

  • Many older video games run at 60 fps, Youtube videos run at 30 fps. You're only seeing half the frames then, and it's blinking every other frame.

  • the comercial on the side of the screne is inturupting the video

  • I think she says "Break Oxygen On".

  • In thunder force II-IV when you get those things that surround your ship she says "Claw!" that's all I know.

  • Wow First Genesis game you got huh...

Was the same for me... I was used to nintedo at the time but when I saw this I was hooked... As far as what she is saying I could never figure it out. But just remember she is probably Janpanese and has an accent...

(as the limitations on the Gen made it worse..lol)

  • Someone on here said she's saying: "breaker system on" (i never could figure what it was when i was younger).

  • I hear "Break Offense On". IMOP, this game trumps the other TF. Gamplay & sound quality wise. (cut sound quality on TF3 & up to have more room for gfx) Tries@ more realistic gfx = usually awful (Clouds in TF4 made me vomit) Gen's colors 2limited4it. U also left out some of the most Wicked levels on TF2 review... which makes me wonder if u actually beat it? all: press a+b+c+start for options meun (skip levels) Took me 1yr off/on play 2 beat it. Play X68000 version2. More paralax, levels&more.

  • Dude, I could never beat this game. It got so friggin hard by the end, even on "Easy" - they don't make games this challenging anymore.

Oh yah - Herzog Zwei FTW!

  • An interlacing issue when the footage went from tape to the computer screen. Its been fixed in newer reviews. For NIGHT DRIVER we had to lay the video over itself in 2 layers or else the car vanished.

  • I wonder if you'll do a review over Eternal Champions? That was my first game to own for Sega Genesis, and the first cart I bought for it was Sega 6-Pack, included the games, Sonic 1; Super Hangon; Columns; Revenge of Shinobi; Streets of Rage; and Golden Axe. All really great games, love the Classic Game Room HD, look forward to more videos!

  • I think she's saying: "Take off my bra bigman!"

  • awsomeness keep em coming
