Due to the short tension spans and laziness of most people this video sums up this game perfectly. By the time the game starts most players don't want to play. Most of the Quests are identical. Laid out differently, but the same otherwise. So unless you edit the quests the entire game is pretty much the same. The designers probably figured no one would play the game long enough to notice.

@mamilolu Yeah, but I'm saying you need to go D&D style and scrap the generic quests and make your own quests. Even customize the rules, allow custom characters, enemies, items and events. Use a whiteboard, not a limited pre-determined factory game board. In this case the entire game is determined by the imagination(s) of the player(s) and the game master. By the way I completed heros quest as one lone character. The Barbarian.

Man, early 90's this owned the town I grew up in. Everyone had it and was playing it. Then in the 6th grade all the sudden it was geeky and in my grade school this made every board game ever made geeky. There was a fork in my town, everyone either shunned all board games and then there were those that moved on to D&D. I liked HQ though, still have my copy and no one to play with.

I haven't played this game in maybe 15 years, and I've been having a little nostalgia trip the last couple of weeks, and then I thought of this game but I couldn't for the life of me remember the name, only that we had a lot of fun playing it when I was a kid.
