I love this dish , And always use mixure in the package ( not home made ) , Now that I know how to make from scratcs , I will have fresh satay dish from now on . Thanks .
I made this dish! It was really easy. As for the Satay... I don't have a grill, so I had to use a pan (without the sticks...). It tasted good, but I know it would of been 100x better on a grill. Anyways... the peanut sauce, I don't care what country it's from, was great! My mom is a picky eater and still loved it.
Basically, most of Asian food not put MSG at all, I love to cook Asian food, it always turn out so tasty without MSG. and this Thai cooking class, so far is the BEST , try it out before you talk pleas.
I have been telling my boyfriend that I want to go somewhere to try Thai food, and we haven't found a restaurant close enough. I think we'll just make it! Your recipes look soooo yummy! :)
Hi, it is very good and thank for this teaching, but can you email me the satay gravy receipe in vegetarian style, let me made it myself for the vegetarian friends tku
Why does everyone think that peanut sauce is Thai? go to Thailand and no one will even know what peanut sauce is!
There are Thai peanut based dipping sauces, but they are NOT made with mud like peanut butter. Try roasting some peanuts and chopping them up. A little more effort, but the easy way out isn't always the best.
great recipe, only difference i made was to add ajinomoto to marinade. that is msg. bad for you, not sure, but it is used in many asian dishes, including thai dishes. considered as 5th flavor - sweet, salty, sour, spicy + msg. is the dish missing something? may be msg. you decied.
you must not good in cooking at all. I'm not Thai, but, I cook thai food,American food, Italian food, and Chinese food.
Basically, most of Asian food not put MSG at all, I love to cook Asian food, it always turn out so tasty without MSG. and this Thai cooking class, so far is the best, try it out before you talk pleas.
we also have the same style of cooking chicken and pork here in Japan but it is much simpler(using salt or sweetened soy sauce) your style looks more yummy! definitely i'll try your recipe. Love your channel and now i'm a big fan....love from Tokyo
soaking skewers in water really doesn't matter. they will burn anyway. it's best to use foil on the rack to keep the fire off of the skewer.. petty i know. but just a tip..
For your health consideration avoid using foil, heating foil will transfer certain amount of lead into your food. You don't want that lead into your food , don't you? Use bamboo skewers or surgical stainless steel skewer instead.
i've watched a couple of your videos and i really like the mother-daughter generational aspect. The recipes are great but you two make it fun to watch :)
just a note about the skewers.. they will burn no matter how long you soak them. depending on your heat on the grill. you can place foil under the skewers to prevent flair ups.
Not sure what your setup is in China but if they have an outdoor patio or porch you could make it there. I wouldn't try doing it indoors unless you have a really good exhaust fan...which we did for this recipe
Yea sure I saw 'satays' sold in every street side in Thailand, but are you sure it's called satay too over there?
What I know is the word is an English version of the Indonesian & Malay word of 'Sate'.
And you want to know why the chicken is the most popular one in usa (or anywhere else for that matter)? Cos that's also the most common ones found in Indonesia & Malaysia.
Yum yum..delicious....This dish was originated from Laos by Chef Khamvongsathawanekingkongthipasapirsatlaoisnumberone back in 6969 B.C. For more info about this world famous chef go to Google seach engine and type in his last name provided above.
oh no! another Thai hating Laos. Go ask the khmers theyll say they created it sheesh. Peanut sauce is likely from thai. I can think of any lao dish that has peanuts. That's why tum som thai has peanuts.
I love chicken satay (the proper spelling is actually sate). I'm sure it's from indonesia. I usually cook it in my own indo way but it's good to know there's another vari of sate.Sweet vid!
The origins of satay are not clear. Some say that Chinese immigrants started selling it on the streets in Malaysia. Others credit the Malay or Javanese street vendors who were influenced by the Middle eastern kebab who came to south east asia in the 19th centry. However, The dish is very popular throughout southeast Asia. Each country has it's own variation
Fish sauce is used in Thailand in place of salt. It gives a salty flavor but also has a distinct flavor of its own. Fish sauce is made from a mixture of Anchovies and salt.

It's weird that she used sweetened condensed milk. In Thailand, we use coconut milk with cane sugar instead.
Pork stay is really popular than beef one and it can be a main dish. It usually comes with sliced cucumber salad with vinegar.
