Thank you so much for uploading this video!! I hired this performance on video from my local video shop on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia about 20 years ago and have been searching for it ever since! It is so wonderful to be able to watch it through as many times as I like! Mike is just amazing and I love everything he has done. What an incredible and unique musician!!!!
Brilliant! I saw this tour in the US. Mike only played 3 cities in the US. Saw him in Phialdelphia. That should be Pierre Morlen on percussion as well
Until I discovered youtube, I believed that Mike Oldfield was simply a brilliant and talented musician who spent his life mixing stuff in a recording studio.
(Sorry, Mike!)
I never believed anybody could do this stuff live - that's remarkable - and not a score in sight!
i, in my excess of time on my hands, wanna start a core spirituality based on the KEYBOARDIST'S SHIRT that embraces all creeds, denominations and shoe sizes... well.... i can lucid dream can't i???
Brilliant all three parts, I'm a great fan of Mike Oldfield since 80's
Listened to his music while i was down the Falklands in 83 & 85. Class Pure Class Music better that the rubbish out now. If you like this then you will ilke Jean Michel Jarre as well.
i loved listening to Mike Oldfield and JMJarre in the 80s, but it's Mike Oldfield i still hear, more and more again. Jarre is so boring against that. i think the mathematic spheres s of Jarres sounds were fascinating then (if i had heard of wendy carlos, i had prefered his music). My feelings, my opinion.
@genesisrock43 yes, and although i saw the film in the eighties, i got the music record only a few years ago. He/she did not only compose the theme, but a wonderful record for the movie, with more/other tracks than used on the movie. So there are two editions: the soundtrack with tracks you hear in the movie, and the more interesting Clockwork-Orange record with more tracks and a booklet with interview.
zhaleh sez that morris' sideburns could/should cause some kinda matter/antimatter detonation cuz they are SO NOT OF THE 80s and these hairy exttrustions SUPPOSEDLY existed in the aforementioned decade...so there
great performance. ommadawn was one of my first self buyed records in the seventies (so many nice memories....). but where's that final "horseride"-part? you know: "hey all the way we go thru the grass, cross the snow...."?
Never seen such a wonderful percussion jam like this. Brilliant! Way to go Mike!

Love the percussion that starts this section. It's player vs. player. We're the winners for this post!

True. Before LOTR was released as a film I imagined from the books the Elves would make music like this.

Poor little sweetie, Maggie Reilly! How could she sing in the midst of that mayhem? Not only Moonlight Shadow. I love her, and I love Mike too.

Morris Pert´s drumming style is similar to Animal from the "Muppet Show". But anyway, he´s a great percussionist, I also like his work with Brand X.

Morris Pert is still around and he haven't changed that much, still got the side-burns, but has turned grey, though.
Anyway, this was a great performance!!!!

I'm not a fan of drum solos, but it's worth sitting through for the guitar bit at the end (4:20+).
