Well corporations wont spend money on oil if solar becomes cheaper which I think obviously will happen, its just a matter of hoping it comes before we run out of oil. I'd be optimistic and put faith in the probability that by around 2025 a transition for energy suppliers will occur and maybe by the 2050s the final steps toward a green planet will be complete.

By most expert accounts about a quarter of the globe's untapped oil is under the Arctc. I work in the oil industry and we are no where near "peak oil". I can drive no more than a few mi/km from my location and see massive amounts of new rigs. Pad creation (where rigs will be moving onto), and frac & cemet job counts are astronomical. The local steel work factories cannot keep up with the demand for the frac-tanks needed, and are 2years behind schedule!

What I cannot stomach is how the industry treats people; which is viewed as a liability...massive reform is req!!!!!

The problem is the rate of production is far behind the rate of extraction. A "break" on oil consumption would help "replenish" the reserves.

What about the other theory in which oil is NOT a fossil fuel but it is generated somehow by the planet deep down. And we are actually fooled into believing that oil will run out when actually it will not. The main argument in the NON-fossil origin of oil is the methane found on Saturn's moon Titan. There is no life (no fossils) on Titan and thus how can methane be found there?
