Thanks for the informational video. I was actually sitting here making fun of you. (All in good fun.) For buying an XS instead of an XSI and then proceeding to spend the insane amount of money for a genuine BG-E5 instead of going with the $30 - $50 third party battery grips that are available. :P
@vevedu93 ~ Hey, sorry for the late response. The battery grip will work even without the battery door (The thing that I removed from the camera body). The only purpose of putting the battery door inside the battery grip is for storage so that in case you decide not to use the battery grip, you know where to find it. Hope this helped. Thanks for watching!
@Garacka ~ ahaha, thanks for the comment =D I started making videos with talking lol it's much easier to get the message across that way xD. Thanks for watching! =D
@BezemerPeter ~ Sorry for the late reply. What do you mean "accu"? I'm assuming batteries. Well, yes, the grip will work just fine with just 1 LP-E5 battery. However, I don't recommend this since the camera will feel a little bit unbalanced with just one battery. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching! Tell your frieds :)
@sushiamelo ~ In theory/paper, one battery should give last you 500 shots with 50% use of flash. So having two batteries with this grip, I estimate you would have approximately 1000 shots. But that's just a very rough estimate. It could be different but the bottom line is it will be A LOT of pictures.
@advhere People have priorities. I didn't need a lens at the time I purchased this and I really wanted a battery grip so that's why I got this. This is actually one of the best investments I put in this camera. It makes it bigger, heavier which means more stability when operating the product.
@gello6282543 I agree a battery grip makes the diference , but what i come to know acros the years is that lenses are the best investment a photographer can make to his equipme.nt
@advhere You're right there! And I totally agree. I did say the grip was one of the best investments I made for the camera, I didn't say it was the best ;-)
@SavageHardstyle This will work on the 500D (T1i). But this will not work with the T2i (550D) because the T2i uses it's own battery grip. So yes, just so you don't get confused, 500D = T1i and 550D = T2i.
@caitens The lens in this video is the 18-55mm IS kit lens. Great for ur typical landscape and some decent fairly close-up photography and the image quality of this kit lens is top-notch compared to other manufacturers' and definitely when compared to the previous generation from Canon. So ya, you're right. This is just the kit lens with a UV filter attached.
I want to buy this grip, its really nice to have extra battery capacity, and plus, it really makes the camera look really good...Damn I want it so much!!! Lmao
@MrPedro787 ~ You can get this for around $150 online or even less if you find good deals =). This grip only works on Canon Rebel XS, XSi, and T1i. so this does not work with a 50D unfortunately. You need the BG-E2N for the 50D. Hope I helped =)
@armandod2010 ~ Lol I always put the lens cap on =) but it looked more bad-ass without it in this clip so that's why it's not there =P. Thank you for the comment! =D
Question! i just got mine today and i have a canon rebel xs too, i did everything you did but its not connecting together. its really loose and so therefore wont turn on. i dont know what im doing wrong. HELP!
@musterd33 -- You should simply just be able to screw the battery grip in. There's a knob in the middle of the grip that allows you to screw it in to the camera's tripod mount. Check my video again to see it. And you might need to press down a little bit to allow the two to make contact. Just be careful though alright. Hope I helped.
Woot, one of the few people remaining doing a voiceless unboxing/installation video. Most of the time, I just mute the unboxing videos if they have a voiceover, but this was nice and simple and straight to the point. +1 from me.
Cheers for posting. Normaly I don't bother with Unboxing videos but yours was worth watching. Very clear and it had purpose WELL DONE. I'll be buying this grip this week. Cheers again.
@haghillmedic ~ Thanks! I honestly did not expect this video to be helpful to a lot of people but I'm really glad this simple voice-less video gives you vital information regarding the battery grip =). Thanks again for the kind words .
@mrwadever - Okay, for your doubts, when you use two batteries with this grip, it only shows ONE battery icon on the screen, the same as you would with just one battery. The only difference is that that icon will take twice as long to actually deplete =P. And I think the camera uses power from the battery at the same time to be more efficient no. So ya, I hope I helped :D, when you have time, visit my photo website (links in description) and tell me what you think of them =)
@NlkOlVy -- It totally does! =D That grip helped me achieve a badass photo of my camera in the shadows :P check it out here: gellophotography.weebly.com/my-equipment.html
Does it look alright having this grip on this camera? The actual grippy bit is quite leathery looking which matches the 450D, but the 1000D's grip here is a lot smoother. Aesthetically, is this alright or do you never notice?
@machineman9 -- It looks fine with my canon 1000D. I know the grip is more "leathery" than the 1000D's grip but if anything, the grip actually makes the camera look a lot better. And trust me, no one really notices your grips unless you point it out in front of their faces =D.
@LucidinAcoustic -- No problem, to be honest, i didn't expect this video to do this well. I'm really glad to be of help to many people who watched this video/tutorial. =D
@mitsubishidiamante Sorry for the late reply buddy, This does not come with a remote. It only comes with the grip and two battery trays (one for AA and one for LP-E5s) Hope I helped.
@GuitarFriend -- I use two batteries. Mainly because when I bought the camera off some guy from kijiji, it came with a bag but he didnt tell me that bag contained an extra battery so I was like "sweet!!!" so after a few months I decided to buy the grip not only for its benefits but to actually get to use my spare battery at the same time =P. Considering the batter which is official Canon costs 70 bux in stores =D.
@GuitarFriend It feels great! it makes the camera bigger and heavier which only means more stability at the expense of your wrist really but thats why you work out right =P. And yes, really useful, portraits awesome with this. and It just makes the entry level camera look more pro! well it's still small compared to 50D and higher models but any addition to the size is welcome to my books =D
Over 10,000 views Thank you all very much for watching this video. Hope this video helps, tell others to watch it if they need to =D. Comment, Rate, Subscribe. I will start putting more regular videos of photos and help videos like this in the future. Once again, thanks for watching =D

This can accept 2 LP-E5 batteries so that makes it capable of shooting up to approximately 1000 photos on a single charge (on both batteries of course). Furthermore, you can put 6 AA batteries in it extending the shooting life of this camera even more! This is compatible to Canon Rebel XS, XSi, and T1i ONLY.
this one has a metal tripod socket at the bottom so you don't lose your tripod socket. You can still mount the camera on the tripod even with the battery grip on.
Well, for stability definitely. its much heavier feels better on the hands and it makes the camera look bigger and more "pro". Furthermore, making vertical shots is much much EASIER and as a bonus being able to accept TWO LP-E5 batteries means you can shoot up to 1000 shots! oh and this comes with a tray for 6 AA batteries so if you somehow run out of juice (idk how you would possibly) you can shove in those AA batts and keep shooting =D
