To hit a G5 with a mix of that much chest voice is VERY difficult, and can be destructive to the voice if recklessly done. The legendary soprano Beverly Sills, who had high notes galore, even found G5 in chest voice to be very difficult!
The numeral denotes which octave. G5 is G natural between the tenor's high C and the soprano's high C. In this performance Celine hits G5 with a greater mix of chest voice, which gives the note a lot more power. That's where the fascination lies :-)

As an opera singer, may I respectfully make the correction that ALL notes are sung from the diaphragm. Diaphragmatic singing is the very basis for correct technique, whether singing low notes down in the boondocks or the high F's above the staff in Der Holle Rache. And that's regardless of age as well. Perhaps when you use the term "disphragm", you're referring to chest tones. In that context your comment makes a lot more sense.

Celine uses mixed voice on these notes, that makes all her range even and smooth and the bridge between her chest and head voice kind of disappeares, whereas Christina tries to use her chest all over the place, that's why she has so little control and that's why she so rarely holds long notes with vibrato, preferring using runs and riffs, or repeating the same note like in "At last". Now she uses natural resourses of her voice, but in 20 years we'll see what remains of this great voice.
Lets put it like this! Christina has a fuller tone than Celine. Thats not my opinion its a fact. Christina has resonance as well as Celime but Christinas vocals seem to fill space. Celine uses mixed voice on these notes, that makes all her range even and smooth and the bridge between her chest and head voice kind of disappeares, whereas Christina tries to use her chest all over the place, that's why she has so little control and that's why she so rarely holds long notes with vibrato, preferring using runs and riffs, or repeating the same note like in "At last". Now she uses natural resourses of her voice, but in 20 years we'll see what remains of this great voice.

Lets put it like this! Christina has a fuller tone than Celine. Thats not my opinion its a fact. Christina has resonance as well as Celime but Christinas vocals seem to fill space. Yes, it was a major success but it was not what made her career. She won more Grammys with her previous album "Falling Into You" than she did with "Lets Talk About Love" (which included My Heart Will Go On). im not going to argue about man's world performance cos that's just up to opinion, but you are wrong. while it's true mariah's success eclipsed celine for the first 5 years of the 90's, this was mainly in the US, because the truth is mariah was never that big in europe like madonna or celine is. mariah's stronghold is in america and asia (which declined in late 90's). celine's huge europe success had already eclipsed mariah by 94 with "think twice" & "the power of love" and the french album.

I completely agree. I like Whitney. I think she had/has a great voice, but career wise, Celine's is one to be envious of by all, to be honest. She hasn't had a career dip like Mariah and Whitney both have, and she has happily stayed at the top of her game for years. Sorry, but i tend to agree. Unfortunetly, Have you heard her sing at the last Music Award. ....I wish her the best of course to gain back her talent. Nevertheless, Céline is different and can't be compare to Whitney. " different caractere.

omg im srry but beyonce isnt as bad as yall tryin to make it although celion whitney and mariah got her in vocals she still is a damn good singer and i doubt that any of u can mess wit her listen to look to your path she sings at the oscars the smoothest vocals ever like butter singing isnt all about power its also about soft shades too and beyonce easily matches them on that but i agree when it comes to power singing they out class her

Mariah lost her voice a long time ago, we all know that.
And Beyonce, she never was consider as a great voice.
