I got a cd140-sce and its awsome in every aspect (smoother then martin dx1 ae).. But if u buy a cd model, do not buy the fender cd-60, buy The 140. Its a hell of a different in both sound and quality,(played on both)
Just picked one up in Toronto. According to the shop they didn't have to do much when they received it. The guitar sounds amazing with nice sustain, the neck is fast (satin, it's mahogany), you can get these way cheaper than the MSRP, go get it right now. The action is nice and low on mine and there is no fret buzz anywhere on the neck, even with hard strumming. The finish is really nice too. More guitar than what I expected, was between this and an Ovation. This killed it.
@Steph4Xmen if you have the money,if you don't, buy a Epiphone (Gibson's low-cost division) or a Squier ( Fender's low-cost division). Both sell packs that come with a gig bag,tuner,amplifier, and,dvd
Guys, can someone who have this guitar tell me is it really good as the video is showing? In my country there is an official Fender distributor, but they don't purchase this model for mass sale, but I can order one. I like it and think it is very good and sound is nice, and as I see, it is. I don't need it for professional playing, it is a home version and love for the acoustic sound :) Will I make a mistake if I order it without trying it? Please someone who have it, tell me your experience..:)
@IVanGogh07 Well, I have one, and I use it for liveshows and recordings. I've spent a couple of hours adjusting it (standard action is a bit high), and it plays better than my Martin DCX1E. Slightly brighter sound than the Martin, and at some point I would really like to replace the pickup with something better, but at the current pricetag it's most certainly worth it.
I have one of this and i love it.... I went to a different acoustics just looking for a warmer sound like almost the same sound as a taylor.... Why spend more money if i can get as same sound as taylor for this acoustic.... Put nice strings and will be more sound expensive.
@MrHotty651 Seems to me like it was a bit from Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car", but I could be wrong. Could just be playing around with some random chords.
@Abibiebs Why don't you get only an acoustic version?
I mean when you pay some 250 - 290 odd for this guitar you are also paying for the electric pre amp...so actually you will be playing a guitar which is may be $150 -200 worth... i was also trying to make a decision for acoustic vs acoustic-electric and thought my money should go into the guitar and not the electrics...you can always put a sound hole pick up at a later stage....
@Abibiebs I bought this guitar 2 years ago. Yes its a good sounding guitar. The inbuilt tuner works REALLY well. I don't really use it plugged in much because i don't have an amp but it sounds ok when plugged in. Its not in the same league as a $1000 cole clark or maton guitar but for its price its good value. The neck is tapered really nice. Its a good guitar to use as a practice machine.
@Abibiebs hey there, you said a month ago if the fender electro acoustic was good and you wanted an answer as you already ordered it and was having doubts..
Well mate im now in that boat, well sorta, ive got the money and can order as soon as but need somebodys honest opinion on it..
Have you still got it and is it worth buying, also whats the action like ?
Can anyone notice certain degree of buzz on Fender acoustics under £300, or is it me listening carefully if they do have buzzes. I like fender guitars but when I compare other makes, yamaha or ibanez, they don't have that kind of buzz, and can they be resolved?
For everyone wondering why his price is so high, this is in Australia, we pay through the teeth for everything, even though our dollar is stronger than the U.S.
i have two of these as I do a lot of plugged in acoustic gigs and they really do a great job. sound good plugged in even through a normal electric fender amp (solid state).
recommended. try in a shop see what you think. small money for a lot of guitar,
@prasiatenko the cd 60 e is not a solid top, which alters the sound quality quite a bit, since the sound gets better with age on a solid top. a laminate will pretty much always the same, and the cd 60 ce is a laminate. personally i think the 140sce is the better choice, im thinking about getting it myself :)
@ruig95 the new strings need a little time to adjust , but it's a really good one, i got one in black and my friend has the one portrayed here. it works great for me(im a beginner)and my friend uses it frequently on his gigs (he's more advanced), the sound is amazing, didnt expect a guitar of this value to sound the way it does, also i heard complaints about the fishman tuner, thats just bs, mine works perfectly fine.
Nice review of this guitar but my question is: Have you played the Fender cd 140s.I have this guitar Fender cd 140s and i dont like how it sounds. Its too hard to play and the low strings E,A and D sonds weird.
@sicopr2003 i have that guitar and i fell in love with her from the first time i played a note. I don't have probems with my guitar. If yours has a truss rod go to a local music store and ask them to adjust it. If there is not a problem with the truss rod change your strings.
@gf1989 in america that guitar is very expesnive. I am greek and i bought it from the internet for 280 euros. I started investigating it and i realised that not only that fender but also some gibsons and some other makes of guitar are cheaper in europe than america. it sounds wierd but it is the truth.
@olmo2603 Thanks, i may check out your vids. I went to Guitar Center the other day though to check it out, but unfortunately i wasn't THAT impressed. The tuner seemed to do a bad job picking up the low E, and when i messed with the tuning it didn't do a great job of picking up the right note either. i already have a chromatic tuner, but it'd be nice to have one built right in the guitar. i went on Black Friday too, meaning i was tired, so I'll check it out again when I'm "fully alert" lol
tuner on this newer version is slightly different than mine. problem u had could be that it was low on battery. for me it always works great, but as I said, I got an older version of the same guitar. try it again indeed, this guitar never failed to live up to my expectations. great price/quality
Just got one yesterday

What song were you playing at @1:19? It sounds super nice! Maybe I'll go get a Fender too. I was leaning towards Martin or Taylors though.

@ruig95 keep in mind this is a semi acoustic guitar, so it does not have the same effect of a complete classical guitar.
