I work at a shoe store and for the black pumps that are bit to big you could always put a black heel grip at the back and a gel insole in side and so the heel grip will make it a but more snug and the gel insole will prevent your foot from sliding to the bottom ^_^

with the steve madden intcye, the EXACT same thing happened to me. One boot looked so worn and the other looked brand new. So i took them back to nordstrom and they did the exact same thing... but I actually think i got a used pair because it was scuffed on the bottom also.
