One of my favorite SNL sketches of all time! We throw around lots of pop-culture phrases in my family, and one of them is, "What do you want me to do about it, bust out cryin'?" :) I love this!
Most comedy skits do not stand the test of time. Others, like this one, are classic and timeless. You could redo this one today and it would be just as funny. The only thing you would have to change is Rosanne's accent to Indian.
Rosanne Barr claims to be a socialist. The socialist Hitler seemed to follow the Communist Manifesto. Had she been born in Germany in the 40s, Hitler would have taken her and her family on a train ride to Auschwitz where they would have experimented on her and exterminated her. NAZI = Nationalsozialismus, National Socialism; alternatively spelled Naziism.
Oh, man, I had forgotten about this one! Yeah, I love the way he says "She gave me several options" after her remark about jamming the check up his butt.
I too have been searching for this for YEARS. Practically a decade. Man, you're AWESOME for saving it and posting it and sharing it to so many people who love this skit. Great Job. This skit is awesome. Roseanne and Phil were HILARIOUS here. Great times. Rest in Peace Phil... I too hope his wife is burning in Hell!!!
This is one of those memorable "commercial" clips from SNL that you can't help but talk about, and then you promptly go to Youtube to discover some nice, smart person uploaded it for your viewing pleasure!! This is a great and clever ad that just brings back a ton of memories for me! Thanks for making this available here!!
LMAO, thanks for posting this! It's *scary* to me how well Phil Hartman could personify the everyman in his actual non-parody commercials and some of his movies...then turn it back around and skewer it so brilliantly! He was one of a kind and will always be missed. Roseanne's great here too!
My favorite SNL commercial! I bought my dad the vhs of this entire episode for Christmas because we love this commercial and had looked for this clip for years and couldn't find it. Thanks for posting this (even if it was a few months late lol.) Phil Hartmen, you rock! I miss you.
i remember seeing this when i was a kid in the early early 90's....every so often i'll try to look it up on youtube (so hard because SNL must keep the pursestrings tight on here) and today i look it up and here it is! sooooooooo funny!
In the original airing, Phil said "Mastercard" in his first line instead of "Metrocard".. I still have my old VHS somewhere..

That "bust out cryin'" line is also said by Stymie in a Little Rascals short:
Farina: This is the last breakfast I'm ever gonna fix for you, Stymie.
Stymie: Well, what you do want me to do, bust out cryin'?

This was probably one of the first things I looked for when I discovered YouTube four years ago.
The writers had to have written this with Roseanne in mind because no one could have played that part better.
