Season 3 had the best characters and evolutions (guilmon, terriermon and culumon are SO CUTE!). Moumantai! It's story line and portrayal of the digital world is awesome IMO.
Season 1 and 2 are instant classics.
I loved all the seasons - they all portray an acceptable image of what digimon is....oh wait...there is a season 5?....

I think its really a combination of the factors that Savers has that makes it difficult to stomach for them.
A lot of the complaints were about how the enemies were not supposed to work that way (LOL, 4 realz?). So a lot of the complaints were directed at Dukemon, Magnamon and Omegamon for not being "good guys".
Other stuff is fan wank on how Agumon is not supposed to evolve into anything other than Wargreymon. (don't mention stuff like victorygreymon!)

And it's no more Super Robot than anything previous seasons have done. 02 had all the combining stuff, and Digimon have been robotic ever since WarGreymon/MetalGarurumon. The first few episodes aren't as great as the new ones; it takes until around episode 10 to really pick up, like Savers and episode 12. It's not without its problems, but it's nowhere close to the worst.

In other words, one digimon able to use its evolution tree to its full benefit. The Shoutmon evolutions are just really really strange and they clash together A LOT.
@Machdude Not sure what you mean by that, but seeing as there are multple forms of Shoutmon X2 and Shoutmon X4, as well as DarkKnightmon, I thought it appropriate to say that. I see what you mean by the branching stuff, but in that case, they could only realistically have one or two Digimon as the focus, because with so many forms to do, they really couldn't feature even 5 Digimon with this ability. It'd be almost like DBZ, except way shorter. Xros Wars is the closest you're going to get.

By giving one digimon multiple evolutions, it allows that digimon to change its strategy according to the situation. For example, Agumon can evolve into Greymon for raw power but sometimes that is not what the situation calls for so when he has to catch up to someone, he shifts into something like Hanumon. Should it carry on, he should be able to become Metalgreymon or Makuramon.

It was how it was done in the games, it was how it was done in the show, it was how it was done in the cards, etc. Not hard to see why the standard format is preferred. I'm not saying Xros is bad, I'm just saying I prefer the original format because this is too far cry from what I have seen digimon to be like.
@Machdude I don't think I'll ever understand. Ever since "Our War Game", and especially with 02, Bandai has made it clear that Digimon is a dynamic concept; there's no one set way to do it. This is one of the many reasons why I prefer it to any other monster show; it's not formulaic in the portrayl of its monsters.
And even still, it's not as if any season of Digimon is all about fighting or monster battles. Those things aside, I think Xros Wars still does an excellent job. Give it a shot.

I didn't really have much of a problem with Jogress shinka primarily because the final product was more than the sum of its parts, it was its own being. But every time I look at the Shoutmon fusions, I cannot just help but think "That's a robot..." I'd probably like it more if it had more streamline designs.
@Machdude That's not true in my case. Palidramon and Silphymon looked exactly like the sum of their parts, whereas the only Shoutmon forms that looked like that to me are X2, X4K, and X4B. Imperialdramon and Shakkoumon look quite robotic in my book as well.
I still don't see it because every component Digimon of Shoutmon's forms (except Dorulumon) looks robotic to begin with. I was unsure too (when I first saw X3, my head screamed 'OMEGAMON'), but it grew on me, unlike 02.

Have you tried to search information about Ayumi Miyazaki first? ^^;; Wada Kouji and Ayumi Miyazaki have very different voices, latter has sung other evolution theme such as "Brave Heart", "Beat Hit" and "Break Up"... and, of course, he is a man ;)

personally i hate the 'hyper evolution' chorus -.-
i mean i would have expected a cool rock chorus but... anyway the rest of the song pwns (the buildup to chorus especially) but i feel disappointed by how much the damn chorus doesn't fit in

Ayuni Miyazaki is a woman. The person who wrote(I think he wrote it) and sang this song is a guy named Wada Kouji.

the song is really great..., Miyazaki Ayumi is it?, If I'm not mistaken he's also the one who did Advenuture 1 & 2 evolution songs.
Pity he doesn't provide any song for Savers (and on top of that, Savers only have 1 evolution song).
