@loader6989 The parallax is way too strong at the moment, since it's not actually 3D; when the maps are too strong it makes the walls and floor look stupid since a brick wall would just collapse if it had gaps that deep, it doesn't look lifelike and it causes weird texture stretching.

I think STALKER already has amazing graphics, maybe not so much on the characte models, but the enviroment is really pretty, and the lighting is amazing also.
@krisisbob It didn't impress me in 2007 and it doesn't now. Crysis was out in 2007 and the textures were better than this. I mean, texture resolution. Also, this has an excessive amount of motion blur.

Looks bad in my opinion. Yes, it's more graphically 'enhanced' but the details in many of the things are all wrong: too deep. Theres an old abandoned brick house from like.. 1910 not too far from here, and the bricks didn't jut out an inch gap in the mortar line. The Parallax occlusion looks great from flat-face perspectives, but otherwise it's just gaudy. Especially when it's unnecessary, like for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. However, great video! Just chiming my two cents.

Im sorry but stalker is one of the ugliest games to come out in recent times, instead of focusing on making briks stand out when you press your face against a wall how about making the grass look natural and not pop up 3 meters infront of the player.
It doesn't even look good, that's the problem with developers they put all these features in the game to improve the graphics but then another problem like not detailed enough objects or bad textures make it look worse than it originally was.

IMO, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games don't have (and won't need) impressive graphics. That's why I hate it when people are competing and comparing with other games and graphics. The atmosphere in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is so intense and the whole concept is so harsh - and that's all the game series really need.

@caketakeshh Well, I don't mind. I've played Final Fantasy 1-3 with nintendo and 4-6 with super nintendo, along with Chrono Trigger, Metroids and Seiken Densetsus. I don't even give a thought about the graphics when I play them; possibly because I've played video games for over two decades.

@Thedarkisfear it's a mod yeah, couldn't tell you which one though I'm afraid. As the poster said in the description box, this is a result of parallax occlusion mapping. Basically it lends more perceivable depth to textures, for example the way the bricks in the wall look 3d rather than a flat texture.
@pamew Yeah that's why I was a little bit confused. I assumed it was dx11 becasue well that's the kind of thing it does. That's all good thanks for the info anyway. I like this mod I may have a look into it as my graphics card does not support DX11... May be that's the mod if you have a DX11 card then you can download this mod to enhance the features in this game to make it DX11 Apposed to DX10...
I've said this before, and I say it again: STALKER (especially SOC) makes you feel very lonely. I still remember going into the secret lab the first time.. and you felt very lonely and scared. Brilliant.
It has it's little quirky stuff going on.. but after a while it just ads to the charm.

@hawkeye195 Just turning your head won't work, because your eyes will stay looking at the same spot as you turn and make sudden jumps to the side. Try holding up your hand, staring at it, then turning your head AND your hand. You will see that everything but your hand will get blurry if you turn your head fast enough.

@Thedarkisfear it's a mod yeah, couldn't tell you which one though I'm afraid. As the poster said in the description box, this is a result of parallax occlusion mapping. Basically it lends more perceivable depth to textures, for example the way the bricks in the wall look 3d rather than a flat texture.

@pamew Yeah that's why I was a little bit confused. I assumed it was dx11 becasue well that's the kind of thing it does. That's all good thanks for the info anyway. I like this mod I may have a look into it as my graphics card does not support DX11... May be that's the mod if you have a DX11 card then you can download this mod to enhance the features in this game to make it DX11 Apposed to DX10...

I've said this before, and I say it again: STALKER (especially SOC) makes you feel very lonely. I still remember going into the secret lab the first time.. and you felt very lonely and scared. Brilliant.
It has it's little quirky stuff going on.. but after a while it just ads to the charm.
What would be cool is if you could set up your own trading station or similar.

I have this mod. It allll comes down to the graphics card and what not :( I play with maxium setting with this mod and I can only tell a small diffrence XD... In the graphics that is... You would haft to be blind in order not to notice the parallax occlusion mapping XD

@hawkeye195 Just turning your head won't work, because your eyes will stay looking at the same spot as you turn and make sudden jumps to the side. Try holding up your hand, staring at it, then turning your head AND your hand. You will see that everything but your hand will get blurry if you turn your head fast enough.
