Game remakes are good for everyone except maybe fanboys, but who really cares about them right? Newer generations get to experience great games, companies get new audiences for their games, and veterans get to re-experience those great games with perhaps a few bonuses like HD.

mi is one of the rare cases that almost all games are very carefully designed! its difficult to distinguish one as the best, but i think that the first is the most important as it introduces the most features. maybe a bit simplistic, compaired to mi2 and mi3 but still a highly entertaining experience. this deluxe version is made very faithfully to the original and is excellent for people that are bored of adventures without speech (like me!)

This remake brings nothing at all the the original game. If 'da kidz' of today can't appreciate the original from its gameplay and humour adding new graphics and voices aren't going to do it.

Couldn't disagree more.

Years ago, the market was flooded with bad and boring adventure games. What are kids today supposed to do? Go back to twenty year old games and sift through them trying to find which ones are good and which ones aren't?

The only way to compete in the modern game market with this older game is to re-release it in a competitive format.

Besides, releasing it like this will make $ which helps keep the franchise alive which is better than letting it die out being a purist

It doesn't take a remake to know about Monkey Island. I can't think of a classic pc game less obscure outside of Doom, Warcraft, and maybe Prince of Persia.

And anyone with an internet connection can easily discover every adventure game worth playing anyways, just like with every other genre and console generation.

Well at the end of the day, the question is, "Did the remake benefit the franchise or hurt it?"

I know that the remake made money, got some new people interested in the series and let the company know that Monkey Island is still a viable property worth making more games in so I am going to say that it benefited the franchise.

Im none to fond of the new character designs either but the actual scenery looks really good and the voice actings always a plus. Still at least we can put it back to the old style if we want to , although i have a copy of the original still for that >_>

It's a nice way to introduce a new generation to a timeless classic. Man, I wish Gabriel Knight or Loom would get the same treatment...

I've always had a thing for vintage games so the new design doesn't thrill me but I am pleased that this classic adventure is going to be enjoyed by a new generation of kids.

You just know there's no way to get most kids to sit down at a game with "bad graphics".

Even if those kids deserve to miss out for being snobbish, I think that this is the best way to ensure that the series continues.

nevertheless monkey island is THE best point and click adventure that i played ^^ and that cant be destroyed by the new grafik ^^
