  • She's our Golden Girl, the hilarious Betty White!

  • Man, you guys are old!!

  • Sounds like something out of a 90s Sonic game LOL.

  • Detroit WXON (now WMYD) aired seasons 1 (7:30pm) & 3 (12pm) and WDIV had season 2 (12:35am)

  • Cue Shadoe: In the Center Square: From 2 and 1 Men Charlie Sheen In the Upper left: Jm J. Bullock From Office: Michelle Obama From the Price is Right: Bob Barker From Tv''s Bloopers: Dick Clark From American Idol: Paula Abdul From the New Adventures of Old Crhistine: Julia Louise Dryfus From Rock and Roll: Bruce Springsteen And I'm The Shadoe! We are the New Hollywood Squares!
  • Is John Davidson Mexican ? I think he is.

  • From Little House on the Prairie Melissa Gilbert.

  • Uh,Mr.Davidson is from That's Incredible. His colleagues were Fran Tarkenton and Cathy Lee Crosby.

  • Then to KPIX from 1987-89 Is that right ?

  • The John Davidson version of Hollywood Squares aired in San Francisco on KGO from 1986-87

  • Looking at that set, a few things puzzled me.

    1. How in the hell did the contestants get up to and down from that area. I'm sure there's probably steps behind them, but I could never really figure it out as a child.

    2. That had to be the WORST place for an audience to be placed. Imagine the sore necks because they were trying to see the contestants from that weird spot almost directly above and to the left of the audience!

  • @darkpowrjd The worst place for the audience (IMO) was probably the Tom Bergeron version because besides the fact that you could see the grid perfectly (which was a good thing, at least), the audience could only see the back of the contestant area (some had to lean as far as they could to the right).

  • who did this theme? Who is playing the sax?? Real soothing sax solo? Is this a sax player or synthesizer?

  • @smjefferson1 Stormy Sacks, Stormy Sacks, Absolutely and It's a REAL Sax player

  • @EKB316 well why do they just give credit to Stormy and no one else? Who is doing the accompament?

  • @smjefferson1 I don't know who else to give credit to. Basically, Stormy Sacks was the composer, so if I had to take a guess, he gets credit for both versions.

  • Does anyone have the music they play before the theme song comes on? its the music they play while the introduce the stars in the squares.

    thanks

  • @RB1911 I used to love the way Shadow Stevens introduces the contestants...

  • @DBR00 So did I. And the host... JOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHN DAVIDSON!!

  • @RB1911 Check out my uploads. I just found the theme and posted it!

  • This was the best theme ever kinda has a John Tesh touch to it

  • THIS IS THE BEST THEME.

    Who agrees with me ?

  • How is that?

    Sony OWNS GSN!

  • Can't be true, since Sony is a PART OWNER of GSN. I thought this version was owned by some other group.

  • Never say never. EVER!

  • now its really taking me back 1980s as a kid watching game shows on USA Hollywood Squares is still my favorite becuase of the music and of course the announcing talent of Shadoe Stevens And Here's Your Host... JOOOOOOOOOHNNNNNNNNNN DAVIDSON!!

  • I'm shocked that this version didn't last longer. Best theme, best prizes, best set, best announcer, and a really awesome mix of celebrities. Sure we missed Peter, Paul, Wally, and Charley, but they had some really funny celebs on here.

  • This version was going along well until they messed with the endgame. Instead of a 1 in 5 (then 1 in 4, 1 in 3, etc) chance to win a car, it was one in nine no matter how long the champion stayed on. That's when I lost interest in it, at least.

  • If Hollywood Squares comes back, they ought to use this theme!!!

  • @MegastarLV Absolutely!!

  • @MegastarLV the show did come back in the 90's there is no offical word form what I heard that will do another series of Hollywood Squares. This was the offical closing theme of the show.

  • @MegastarLV John Davidson was quirky, but he actually fit the show. It went downhill with Whoopi and all these new clowns. Only thing I didn't like with the Davidson show was Joan Rivers.

  • @MegastarLV, no telling they done 3 versions of the show. If this does come back you have to have Tom Bergeron host it again he did a good job as host last time, so he might be back. The only question is who will be center sqaure this go around.

  • @GCRams2 Yeah, Tom Bergeron is probably the best host they've had.

  • @GCRams2 Tom Bergeron has made it clear that he will never ever do a traditional game show again.

  • I remembered growing up on this version of Hollywood Squares on USA so much when I was a wee child.

I can't see why GSN won't pick up this version and reair Davidson's episodes. He did great with the panel, and the show arguably has one of the best themes of the 1980s, if not ALL shows.

  • I recall the April Fool's prank the y did on John Davidson.

  • Does anyone know why they do not show these in rerun format. Not only was the theme music the best but at the end when they were going for the car. All right audience on the count of 3 1,2,3, and hope to hear the engine instead of that awsome sound of sorry wrong key.

  • This was the very 1st version of HS I grew up with, thanks to the theme song and kick-ass music package by the incorporable Stormy Sacks!

  • In the center square Joan & Mellisa Rivers, form Jury Duty Jugde Bruce Cuttler, form View Jo Bayheart & Elisabeth Hasselbeck, form The Price is Right Drew Carry, form NBA champions La Lakers Kobe Bryant, form GoodDay LA Steve Edwards, form American Idol Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowle, from Simlpy MIng Ming Chow,TV pitchman Anthenony Sloven and me am Shadow Steven and we the new Hollywood Squares. Heres ur host JOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHn Davidson.

  • *theme starts*

    Hello Stars.

  • @SuperGamer7 pure poetry dude

  • This version of "Hollywood Squares" is the reason why I grew up with this show. I first saw the show when I was one in 1986.

  • Yep, That Theme Music sounds like these notes from the theme music of ESPN Sportscenter.

  • LONG LIVE THE 80's!!!!

  • Love this song.
