I saw this back in 4th Grade, in 1974 in Girl Scouts when we were going to sell girl scout cookies. I went home told my mother about it, and I told her it was Mansfield, Ohio, she said she remembered it. because it really happened to a little girl that was related to one of her cousin's husbands little sister.

very educational video. A Child Molester Pedophile is a grown up person (usually men) who sexually molests innocent pre-pubescent children. That is the most EVIL thing anyone can EVER do is have sexual intercourse/rape a pre-pubescent child. They are PURE and can not sexual reproduction of any kind, no puberty ect. Unfortunately, they don't show these to kids in school anymore and in a way, they should. I think they showed this to school for us but I don't remember. I remember police coming in and talking about us about strangers and one of the characters I remember is Patch the Pony.!

I remember in 1966 they showed this on TV in my town. There had been a few instances of molestation in the area. I was 8 years old. I remember they mentioned before showing it that it was graphic. My folks made sure me and my sisters saw it. I only saw this once, but I remember it to this day... When they showed the first picture at the end (the longer shot) I didn't know what I was seeing. But I sure did with the final ones! After the short there was a discussion. Really had an effect on me...

When I was growing up, my family never mentioned this subject, except for one time:

At some point before I turned 7 (I know this because Grandma died in 1972), there was this man who lived alone next to my Grandmother and Aunt. Although I knew nothing about either sex or molestation, I thought it creepy that he kept suggesting I spend the night with him. One time, my Aunt quietly said to me to never let him get close to me unless her or Grandma was there.

what causes people to molest? Patterns of behavior I believe. There are people who were molested who want to get on with their lives, know that it happened to them, and not continue the pattern. You have to change the pattern from not happening. no one else can.

The only thing I don't like about this video is that it's a bit misleading in that as we know, cases like this one are rare but do occur; in most cases, the child knows their abuser and knows them well: Family member, family friend, babysitter, teacher, counselor, doctor, etc. Maybe a similar video about such cases could be done. Bravo, though, for doing such a video during a time when it was so taboo, though!:)

We should have a 24 hr emergency response system for children in distress. A gadget on their body that the child can activate. It simultaneously alerts the parent/guardian of the child and police. they would know exactly where he/she is always. We can do it to automobiles . Why not our kids.

I was told this weekend that some pervert tried to lure my granddaughter into his truck last week. He motioned for her to come over to his truck as he sat across the street from the school. My son picked her up and they went to make a police report. I'm going to that area this week and alert every parent at the school with a flyer. Also several of my associates and me will spend a few days in that town, and maybe find him, you know what I mean!!

I am one of those kids who did see this in elementary school. I believe I saw it twice. It was dated for when I saw it. However, the end, with those dead bodies, was never shown. I did a search for this thing and while watching, I realized I only saw the abbreviated version...up to the 11:11 point. I found it terrifying with just viewing half of it. The full video really took me aback. I am glad my three year old left the room before they showed the end!

The way to prevent molestation is by teaching your kids common sense. Most new sexual abuse will be committed by someone who is NOT on a sex offender registry. Only a small percentage re-offend and most sex offenders are low-risk.

Instead, you need to look at the 90%+ who have no convictions as well as the few registered who are truly high-risk to prevent sexual abuse.
