Maybe kiwis cant drive? I managed 12.9 in july at willowbank raceway and it was 3 degrees c and have time slip to prove it also had k&n filter that does shit all anyway lol, there have been a few standard f6's running around 12.5 secs. The shit way that wheels magazine tests cars with is with 2 people in the car half a tank of fuel and they probably dont stall them up on the launch hence why there times are slower..

According to the owners manual it weighs close to that and I can't launch it coz of the vsc that is built into the factory ecu I just take off in drive an audi rs6 wagon almost weighs 2 tonnes and does low 4's to 100 km/h those falcons should be faster than they are coz of the power they look nice though and are a hell of alot better than the ve ss commodores

Hahaha my 1998 tiptronic caldina gtt with 116,000 km's with a mines ecu and a cai can do 5 seconds flat and it's a 2 litre 4 cylinder 3sgte with stock boost and only an ecu which removes speed cut and raises the rev limiter and it still has the factory exhaust cat converter etc and it can beat these cars that have twice the amount of power lol don't believe me check out my video of it in drive mode
I love my Jap imports dude, but you have to remember, this XR6 has almost 400 kilos more shit to carry around than your Toyota. 5 seconds is pretty good for a dead stock family car built in your backyard.

But even if it could do 0-100 in 1 second flat the problem remains that it is still a Toyota Caldina which looks like the bastard child of a Tarago people mover and a honda jazz that is only driven by virgins. @Adypie a caldina is a Japanese station wagon with a 3sgte gen 4 engine it was only available for the Japanese market they are now being imported to Australia and England and also have been in Nz a long time stock standard they make 265 hp and are very easy to make power out of

In my own opinion, the XR6T is easier to pour money at and get more power. have owned both and wouldnt go back to the toyota. My old BA XR6T stock is doing 5 sec 0-100...on 5psi of boost

You really have no idea about xr6ts, 320-350rwkw can be had from $3000 depending on what year model and if you choose the most effective mods i.e. intercooler,exhaust (some of the stock system can still flow well new cat and dump maybe but),actuator and flash tune. and engine reliabilty I'd still say it would outlast your little 2l 3sgte even running 350rwkw off 15psi as a daily tune.

i have a NA fg xr6 with only a KN filter and it does 0 to 100 in 6.8s smashed VE sv6s and just about matches a 5.7 gen 3, id prob kill my self in a xr6t lol
Mine's a late 2009 FG XR6T, Between 1st-2nd at 4000 rpm this motor seems to flatspot slightly compared to mine. How many kays have you done? i had this problem before the 3000 kay free service and it magically disappeared.

Very very nice! If you put an exhaust, larger intercooler, XR8 snorkel, underdrive and get it a nice tune and you could easily get it down to low-mid 4's with the right amount of wheel spin.

i think its time ford stop using cheese cutter 8inch wide tyres on there turbo I6 models, F6 struggles to get traction, they shood at least upgrade tyre/wheel combo on the F6 anyway, then ul c some F6 times under 5secs
The only thing i can see bad with the FG is the looks, ford was voted down on having a very 'oldish' style look compared to most of the new cars coming out. I don't know it the body somehow enhances the performance if it does please excuse me, but in my opinion the BA/BF looked much better.
The BA had the best body ever, BF fucked it up a bit more and FG gets better than BF but not as good as BA. The only good FG model cars are the G6E Turbo (BEST ONE OUT OF THEM ALL!!!!) and the FPV range.

According to a close friend of mine (Who is the local Ford Dealer),
The FG XR6T has the BF Typhoon's motor, he has driven both & concludes that the FG GT will get off the line a shade quicker for the first few meters but when that turbo spools in the XR6T, the "Surge of Torque" is far greater than the V8.
While the XR6T is is $46,990 & the GT-E is $78,190, "Bang for buck" swings in favour of the Turbo, but reliability & longevity goes to the GT.
nah im just speaking from my own experience, when i had a mate in the xr6t (auto) and i was in the gt (manual). the xr6 chopped to 160 then the gt caught up
You have obviously never driven either. The XR6T kills the V8 for torque, the very area a V8 is supposed be at an advantage. The XR6T handles far better as its lighter up front and enjoys fantastic balance compared to the XR8. The only thing the XR8 has in its favour is looks and exhaust note... that's where it ends. Even a BA XR6T will beat an FG XR8 in most disciplines.
i own both the xr6t is faster to about 160km then the gt pulls straight past. and the gt handles alot better you can actually put the power on down the corners without having the car all over the road
As far as reliability goes, the i6T is much better than that yank 5.4lt piece of crap. 0-400m times show both cars over 160km and the XR6T a faster time. Your case is garbage. The Boss engine is rubbish. The i6T has it covered EVERYWHERE! The reason why the XR6T may struggle in corners is all the torque, FAR more than the GT.. if you know your car well its not a problem.
either way i got both of them so its win win. the boss isnt crap iv never had a problem and its copped alot of abuse. the xr6t blew up the 1st week i got it
Every 0-100 time I've seen is over 6sec for the FG XR8, you claim 6sec flat in your taxi?? Who is the liar then? The i6 has been reported doing over 1 million klms in taxis! No stock XR6 turbo is going to punish an engine harder than taxi drivers doing city k's. The 5.4 V8 is American garbage.
FYI - I do train with weights and am not small at all, just not vein enough to announce it on here.
If u look at the vid at the 4 sec mark i put the foot down, by around the 10 sec mark or so it's doing 100k';s, depending how accurate the Youtube timer is, it would have to be at most 7sec.
Anyway , don't care, no longer have it, still looking for a Typhoon at the right price.

You really have no idea about xr6ts, 320-350rwkw can be had from $3000 depending on what year model and if you choose the most effective mods i.e. intercooler,exhaust (some of the stock system can still flow well new cat and dump maybe but),actuator and flash tune. and engine reliabilty I'd still say it would outlast your little 2l 3sgte even running 350rwkw off 15psi as a daily tune.

@Lynchy237 if they are still going at over 200,000 km's without a rebuild there are new falcons in the ford dealerships in Auckland always getting fixed under warranty and some are only a month old you can't beat a jap car for reliability except subarus which seem to be pretty unreliable sometimes

Mine's a late 2009 FG XR6T, Between 1st-2nd at 4000 rpm this motor seems to flatspot slightly compared to mine. How many kays have you done? i had this problem before the 3000 kay free service and it magically disappeared.

Very very nice! If you put an exhaust, larger intercooler, XR8 snorkel, underdrive and get it a nice tune and you could easily get it down to low-mid 4's with the right amount of wheel spin.

The only thing i can see bad with the FG is the looks, ford was voted down on having a very 'oldish' style look compared to most of the new cars coming out. I don't know it the body somehow enhances the performance if it does please excuse me, but in my opinion the BA/BF looked much better.

The BA had the best body ever, BF fucked it up a bit more and FG gets better than BF but not as good as BA. The only good FG model cars are the G6E Turbo (BEST ONE OUT OF THEM ALL!!!!) and the FPV range.

Keep in mind that an '08 XR6T will cost u the about the same as an '07 F6.
Typhoon looks tougher, has 15Nm more torque, but you'll get more warranty on the XR6T & pick one up with less K's.

He has driven both the FG XR6T & the FG GT.
In his own words.. " The V8 sounds nice but once you feel that boost of the XR6T, You'll go for the Turbo, and save a lot of money!"

According to a close friend of mine (Who is the local Ford Dealer),
The FG XR6T has the BF Typhoon's motor, he has driven both & concludes that the FG GT will get off the line a shade quicker for the first few meters but when that turbo spools in the XR6T, the "Surge of Torque" is far greater than the V8.
While the XR6T is is $46,990 & the GT-E is $78,190, "Bang for buck" swings in favour of the Turbo, but reliability & longevity goes to the GT.

You have obviously never driven either. The XR6T kills the V8 for torque, the very area a V8 is supposed be at an advantage. The XR6T handles far better as its lighter up front and enjoys fantastic balance compared to the XR8. The only thing the XR8 has in its favour is looks and exhaust note... that's where it ends. Even a BA XR6T will beat an FG XR8 in most disciplines.

As far as reliability goes, the i6T is much better than that yank 5.4lt piece of crap. 0-400m times show both cars over 160km and the XR6T a faster time. Your case is garbage. The Boss engine is rubbish. The i6T has it covered EVERYWHERE! The reason why the XR6T may struggle in corners is all the torque, FAR more than the GT.. if you know your car well its not a problem.

Every 0-100 time I've seen is over 6sec for the FG XR8, you claim 6sec flat in your taxi?? Who is the liar then? The i6 has been reported doing over 1 million klms in taxis! No stock XR6 turbo is going to punish an engine harder than taxi drivers doing city k's. The 5.4 V8 is American garbage.
FYI - I do train with weights and am not small at all, just not vein enough to announce it on here.
